Technically you are pirating.

This article reminded me of this classic:

That is a valid defense.

But he had plenty of opportunities of doing something about it.

21··on 3 years later, IntelliJ is still unusably slow on macOS with a 4K display
Fortunately Electron apps don't have this problem, since their UI is GPU accelerated.

All aboard the Chrome train.
21··on Microsoft: 70 percent of all security bugs are memory safety issues
> It's also OSS and it is much easier to surface security bugs for Linux than for Windows.

Shouldn't then the number of bugs decrease much faster, since they are easier to find? Unless they are introduced at even a greater rate than the ones in Windows.

21··on Microsoft: 70 percent of all security bugs are memory safety issues

21··on Microsoft: 70 percent of all security bugs are memory safety issues
It's about increasing the costs to the attacker.

Now a Windows/browser zero-day requires months of research and can be sold for $100k+.

21··on Microsoft Ironically Proves Forced Windows Updates Don’t Make Any Sense
This argument is like saying that "vaccines are not necessary because as we can see, few people get infected"
21··on The first dexterous and sentient hand prosthesis has been successfully implanted
The problem is integrating it into the existing skeleton. Our arms are not just glued to the body, they integrate with the shoulder.
21··on The first dexterous and sentient hand prosthesis has been successfully implanted
Where do you attach a third arm?
21··on A thermostat company shut down every thermostat in the middle of a cold night
This guy complains, but he is the one who bought a Internet connecting thermostat. Darwin effect at work here.

10 years later, millions of percents higher, still waiting for the final collapse to zero.
21··on Does Jeff Bezos Have a Legal Case Against the National Enquirer?
The article explains why, because sometimes this kind of thing is needed and good:

> This reasoning is why, for example, a lawyer can send someone a letter saying their client will agree to settle a lawsuit if certain terms are met.

21··on Does Jeff Bezos Have a Legal Case Against the National Enquirer?
Read the emails carefully, and remember they were written by lawyers. It didn't seem to reach the level of criminal blackmail to me. Experts quoted in the article agree.

If they do however publish the picture everyone talks about, I'm pretty sure they will be destroyed just like Gawker was in the Hulk Hogan case.

21··on Child abuse images hidden in crypto-currency block chain
To use your own argument, "child porn being illegal didn't work for stopping child porn, did it"?

The second huge fallacy (you are also making it) is that the government wants to ban crypto, but is afraid of saying it and comes up with all kinds of contrived tactics.

21··on Child abuse images hidden in crypto-currency block chain
Well, in that case embedding child porn on it will not help either, would it? I was just highlighting the massive fallacy of parent.
21··on Child abuse images hidden in crypto-currency block chain
No, the easiest for the government to destroy blockchain is to just declare it illegal.
21··on Child abuse images hidden in crypto-currency block chain
> Returning to our analogy, the publisher of a best-selling book might announce that the first letter of every line in the book can be interpreted as a sequence of pixels that represents a pornographic image of a child. Can the police then arrest owners of the book? Common sense suggests that the answer is no, and most lawyers would agree.

Yeah, I probably visit YouTube to read the comments.

And Giphy.com to admire their logo.

Or until the user switches to alternate browser like I will if Firefox doesn't autoplay soundless animations.
21··on DNA Evidence Can Be Fabricated, Scientists Show (2009)
Doesn't really solve the problem, there are many ways of bypassing that, from having a small screen in front of the lens playing fake video, to hacking the firmware.
21··on DNA Evidence Can Be Fabricated, Scientists Show (2009)
Many other things are possible, like breaking into a video surveillance system and replace the actual footage with a fake one incriminating someone else.
21··on DNA Evidence Can Be Fabricated, Scientists Show (2009)
For alibi, in the future it would probably be a good idea to have a 24/7 personal body camera which timestamps the video using the blockchain or something.

Your video shows no cloud full brightness summer lighting. Hardly what's considered a difficult setup.

And tens of thousands of dollars of professional lighting.

Ask a pro photographer what he would prefer:

1. a cheap entry level DSLR and ultra-expensive light setup

2. the most expensive DSLR and cheap household light setup

Most would pick 1.
