71bw··on Amazon’s “digital pacifier” for toddlers
>Same goes for movies, movies are always co-watched, we sit through the movie, pause and discuss what is going on, I'll ask about why people are doing certain things, what emotions different characters are having in a scene, and so forth.

Christ, at least let the kid think about it on his own and ask questions later! Don't know about your kid, but I don't know ANY person, at any age, that would not feel like they're enduring an insufferable school class with behaviour like this.

...lots of unstructured play I surely did have with my slow as molasses bloated Pentium 4 machine with XP and no internet in my childhood. Developed a LOT of patience when downloading stuff from the Net (on 256Kbps, no less!) on one PC and moving it over to my machine.
71bw··on Security Disclosure
And where does that leave the tenet of auditing patches?
71bw··on Security Disclosure
Yes. Basically, if there is 1 person that knows all the critical stuff and you will have BIG issues after they get hit by a bus... well, the rest is self-explanatory. :-)
71bw··on Gearslip – Android Auto replacement without Google
Valid. :-)

Yes, because the author did the sensible thing of just saying he uses AI to aid and did not dig in further.

Focus on the code, not on the politics surrounding it.

Why would you - EVER - willingly use e-SIM?! At least use an OpenEIUCC-compatible adapter!
71bw··on Xbox goes down. You can't play games you own on disc
>And despite all of this, I am still stuck playing IT boy with my parents’ computers because they refuse to use an operating system that isn’t complete dogshit.

There is no such operating system.

Anything modern (as in, released within the, let's say, last month)
71bw··on European digital ID wallets rely on safety services of Google and Apple
But it's how the people outside of our circles see it. We tinker with our devices, which is not understandable to them - their phone just works, why would they change anything about it?
71bw··on European digital ID wallets rely on safety services of Google and Apple
...and the iOS 27 features are not anything actually important, while China never was an established market for Google since 2009. Things have changed.

...how does that align with what the EU government is doing? The whole point is for you NOT to be sovereign!!!
71bw··on European digital ID wallets rely on safety services of Google and Apple
But this does not allow tracking nor marketing, so why would they do that?
71bw··on European digital ID wallets rely on safety services of Google and Apple
Oh they sure do, because Google/Apple have to bend over backwards for the EU as they are not stupid enough to suddenly lose 500 million users.
71bw··on European digital ID wallets rely on safety services of Google and Apple
The lawsuits, sadly, won't matter. "Security" (or, rather, totalitarian control!) is more important than the 1% of nerds who care enough to tinker with their phone.

...attendance? I landed a spot in likely the best economics uni in Poland while having 52% attendance in my final HS year, out of which perhaps 10% of the absence was due to illness.

And yet it is China who has, for the last 40+ years, successfully used the "start cheap, destroy competition, rise prices" tactic.

71bw··on macOS needs its grid back
Does it work nowadays? Back in High Sierra days whenever I tried turning this off it did absolutely nothing and still reordered my shit.

We seem to work in very similar fields. I tend to work on the back-end line. To put it lightly: it is all a big shitshow. Vendor lock-in, non-standard communication, network admins who have no idea what they are doing, radiology imaging clinics with no IT staff at all (even on-call external people) or places that had their network set up 15 years ago by a guy who is now long dead or otherwise MIA. And then, inevitably, you have to guide the innocent girl sitting at the front desk to somewhere in the local backrooms just to reset a server remotely.

I presume the 968 was chosen because it all seems like the Neo is only the first hurrah into this whole entry-level field for Apple.

I have my iPhone set up in a way where I have "Apple Intelligence" and that, somehow, manages to pick up Polish VERY well. Might want to try it. Never have expected "play "Oddałbym" by Slums Attack from Spotify" to work - and yet it did first try, way better than any attempt I made on Google Assistant in the past decade.

The pronounciations, though, are indeed something that leaves no other option but to laugh. Expect "Rogozińska" (ruh-goh-tzeen-ska?), recieve something I fail to comprehend :-)
