Aleklart··on The Vietnam government has banned rooted phones from using any banking app
Of course if you have root, you can make other programs work as you please.

They need to go further to outlaw hide root apps, and then install special app to track the status of the phone to make sure it is not rooted. Then allow police to randomly check the presence of this app on people phones. Every phone needs to be registered and pass hardware inspection every year. Even better, make so called offices where people can come and deposit or transfer money, it will be super safe.

Aleklart··on The Vietnam government has banned rooted phones from using any banking app
don’t need sim card on second one it is even more secure that way it is very common to have different phones for people who work with money transfers (including crypto)

You can use mac, ipad and iphone without apple account at all. You can use app store without logging to icloud. You can install apps without app store. There is no nagging to use icloud after initial setup. There is no spyware and adware integrated into standard apps or OS itself. Apple does not sell user data.
Aleklart··on Qualcomm to acquire Arduino
rpi is owned by broadcom since the begining the moment they stop selling them their closed source firmware’s cpu, be the end of rpi project anyway, rpi is just a PR stunt to push brand recognition among nerds, so they buy real business broadcom products for real profits

Aleklart··on AMD Will Need Another Decade to Try to Pass Nvidia
AMD should be much more successful with Tesla, Microsoft and Sony all using their chips exclusively in their top devices, but look like big corps milked the deals to the point AMD have no profit at all. Nvidia salespersons and marketing department are clearly decade ahead.
Aleklart··on AMD Will Need Another Decade to Try to Pass Nvidia
no, of course not, it will be used to cheap out on game and graphic designers, as UE5 is used to avoid hiring actual game engine developers.

Aleklart··on Microsoft formally deprecates the Windows Control Panel
Everyone in MS consider it a amazing, awesome innovation that makes most popular OS in the world even more intuitive and user friendly. If someone (non-FTE) suddenly not thinking this obvious way, he is better to shut up, or he is not going to work in MS starting next financial quarter.
Aleklart··on Microsoft formally deprecates the Windows Control Panel

Aleklart··on VMware vSphere ESXi free edition is dead
wdym not crippled and powerful? it was always a literal cripleware that not only lacks of basic VM flexibility (usb/devices passthru etc) and cant run any guest except windows and linux, but also hard to mange due to lack of basic cli / gui. It has no advanced features that were added for datacenter edition back in 2016 and in fact pretty much dead as windows server itself

microsoft virtualization is long stuck in the past and forgotten, iykwim

if you need something more or less sane luke esxi, proxmox or even xen are way to go.

Aleklart··on AMD 8000G APUs launch Jan 31, $329 8700G competes with desktop GTX1650 in gaming
Nothing to praise AMD about: 1. Same greedy strategy to sell 8 cores with top igpu while put heavily cut down igpu to 4 and 6 cores. Nobody need 8 cores for this little gpu performance. In fact you have to disable half of cores to get better fps and most users of RDNA handhelds already did it. Steam deck have 4 cores for the same reason. 2. 780M is rebranded 680M released 2 years ago with same performance. Before it, AMD had been rebranding vega for 3 years. 3. Intel igpu is already on pair in laptops. 15 gen will have same igpu performance and same cuts as AMD while having cheaper 2 and 4 cores for casual players. 4. AMD drivers still awful and most gamers switch to Nvidia just because of it and never look back. 5. “Insane gaming performance ” is equal to performance of 8 years old 1060 that can be bought for 30 euros. New parts like 6500, A380 or 1650 GDDR6 are available for 100-150 euro. Gaming PC for kids with performance of 300+ euro 8700g can be built for 100 euro (chinese LGA 2011-3 Xeon + RX 570 refab). 6. Non gamers have no reason to buy APU at all. It will stay as niche of SFF and corporate boxes.

Green screen of death indeed. Had them on 4800h laptop regularly. Laptop worked fine on Windows. AMD already dropped support for vega igpu so I guess these will never work in Linux. May be RDNA drivers is better because Valve using them in Steam Deck. Still AMD can break it at any release as they did many times.

Aleklart··on Satya Nadella admits giving up on Windows Phone and mobile was a mistake
They would push Windows 8 AOL UI, mandatory NET mobile and usual API hell along with Store on it and CE would end similarly. At least it died without shame.

Aleklart··on Satya Nadella admits giving up on Windows Phone and mobile was a mistake
The art of creating your own desktop GUI library is probably already lost, so react/electron will be the best option. In fact you don’t even need electron. Just make it a web service. People prefer web, they used to web.
Aleklart··on Satya Nadella admits giving up on Windows Phone and mobile was a mistake
How exactly they cared about surface? It was a premium toy that was never perfected for pros (these huge displays they discontinued) or e-waste (all 4gb go models). It cost twice for any minimal reasonable hardware configuration. It had insanely impractical weird IO (minidp from 10s in 20s) and fabric palm rest. It was targeted to push in enterprises where their sales noses are so deep they sometimes don’t even need to bribe CEOs to push their sales initiatives. Even corp drones refused to use it and returned to HP. Who even need this stand contraption for work? Who need touch on Windows? May be people just buy macbook AND ipad for the same price? They cancelled RT hardware without any delay while windows 10 mobile can run fine. What they did with surface phone? Right, dropped android support like a cheap chinese factory. Do you want to fix your out of warranty 3 yo surface? No sane technician will take it, even if you told him how MS is in (love) with right to repair. Surface is a joke. Well may be .NET developers can use it because how easy it is to develop LOBs with new .NET tools and how productive you feel all the time working with new cool features of C#.
