BoggleOhYeah··on Publish fake stats, get cited in LLMs
My personal belief is that AI is eventually going to force the populous back to more face-to-face interactions. There will be a breaking point where people can’t take the “is this a human or a bot” guessing game any longer.
BoggleOhYeah··on Steam Users Beg for "No AI" Filter as Vibecoders Flood Next Fest
The expectation of quality is slowly being chipped away. And it appears the HN community is prepared to “nuance” that expectation out of existence.
BoggleOhYeah··on Florida's HOAs and condo associations are making the housing crisis worse
Because you're a human and you can reassess judgements after absorbing information?

I guess you could be in a LLM, in which case you'd have to wait for retraining.

BoggleOhYeah··on Hybrid Reasoning Agents: LLM agents that think in latent space, act through text
Computer science, in general, has always had a habit of not being precise with language. That's only getting worse with AI.

>our current understanding of the biological brain is pretty much an organic neural network

This is just plainly wrong.

BoggleOhYeah··on The Brain Sandwich
It's leading us toward the Cult Mechanicus from Warhammer 40k.
BoggleOhYeah··on Florida's HOAs and condo associations are making the housing crisis worse
Barring any guardrails, AI would tell me that the Holocaust had redeeming qualities if I asked it.

They are not truth or judgment machines.

BoggleOhYeah··on Tesla 'Cannot Guarantee' Roadster Reservation Holders Will Ever Get a Car
Most of us aren't nihilists.
BoggleOhYeah··on Tesla 'Cannot Guarantee' Roadster Reservation Holders Will Ever Get a Car
At this level of tortured language, he could have shot the car out of a fucking cannon and it would count as flying.
BoggleOhYeah··on Microsoft and CMU team up to train early career software engineers
It’s really hard to get a good read on it because of the state of the post-COVID economy and job market.

Like the mass layoffs the last couple of years seemed to be primarily driven by the goofy hiring spree every company went on during the pandemic and the AI reasoning was only partly true and mostly a coverup for their mistakes in hiring in previous years.

On the other hand, the amount of garbage level devs that were being churned out of bootcamps and such in the years leading up to COVID was also due for some kind of correction and AI may be the catalyst for that correction.

I’ve been around devs making an easy 6 figures that did nothing but copy/paste code from the internet or other parts of the codebase and spew jank into the repo because management needs the work done yesterday.

BoggleOhYeah··on Microsoft and CMU team up to train early career software engineers
OpenAI and Anthropic say a lot of shit to keep investments flowing in while they try to find an avenue for profitability.
BoggleOhYeah··on Microsoft and CMU team up to train early career software engineers
As a principal, I still catch people submitting shitty AI code on a weekly basis. Their brains are rotting to the point that they can't tell if the code is doing the correct thing or not.
BoggleOhYeah··on Will MOOCs Destroy Academia? (2012)
"Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing!"
BoggleOhYeah··on I know why the mathematicians weep
Not that it explains all job market weirdness but you do have a problem on the hiring side with having to deal with the flood of AI generated applications. I assume that’s going to have a slowing effect on the typical apply/interview/hire process.
BoggleOhYeah··on Linus Torvalds's first LLM-assisted patch series
Given a lot of the starry-eyed reactions on HN, I’ve come to suspect that a lot of the devs here were/are primarily working on CRUD apps. That would also track with the amount of attention that Ruby articles get around here.
BoggleOhYeah··on CFTC Staff Were Told to Retract Analysis of Suspicious Oil Trades
I agree. But it’s pretty apparent that this is a case of political targeting. Elon and Melania Trump likely committed some level of immigration fraud as well.
BoggleOhYeah··on CFTC Staff Were Told to Retract Analysis of Suspicious Oil Trades
Not to mention that Trump Jr is an advisor to both Kalshi (YC19) and Polymarket.
BoggleOhYeah··on Strengthening our defenses against distillation attacks
Part of this read like they admit that they're looking for regulation to slow competition.
BoggleOhYeah··on The gap in shared understanding of LLM capability is widening
Have you actually used ArtCraft?
BoggleOhYeah··on Nitter: Update Oct 10th seeking funding and legal help
I’m not surprised.

Despite the VC firm trying to assimilate the word “hacker” to humanize itself, this place is Tech-bro News and the userbase will always tend to take the side of capital.

BoggleOhYeah··on AI is creating a 'human premium' for art created by people
I’m going to be honest. Those look like shit.
BoggleOhYeah··on In "Musk," Alex Gibney Punctures Elon's Self-Mythology
Star Trek was pretty negative about this period in history.

In that universe, we had the Eugenics War/World War III during this time period. The most depraved and bloody war in Earth’s history that wiped out 1/3 of Earth’s human population and rendered hundreds of thousands of species extinct.

BoggleOhYeah··on Tanker attacks in Strait of Hormuz surge to wartime high, Iran tries choking oil
You mean the Democrats are the same as the party that has members and their families openly taking bribes from Russian oligarchs, gambling companies, etc, doling out pardons for political favors, enabling insider trading?
BoggleOhYeah··on In "Musk," Alex Gibney Punctures Elon's Self-Mythology
I thought it was calling that diver a pedo for telling him that his submarine idea was stupid.

Or the implicating Trump in the Epstein files and the going back to groveling at his feet

Or the hiring someone to play video games for him.

No, his personality cult does not care because they admire him for being able to be a malignancy while suffering no consequences.

BoggleOhYeah··on In "Musk," Alex Gibney Punctures Elon's Self-Mythology
Selling out all of our values to make an extra buck.

You base this on?
BoggleOhYeah··on Imposing Sanctions on the International Criminal Court
This place is populated by people that have rotted out their intelligence and morals by obsessively reading and regurgitating “rationalist” blogspam.
BoggleOhYeah··on Carnegie Mellon University Announces Historic $3B Gift from Ken Griffin
Considering that push into Chicago started with Rauner, I’m not surprised.

It was suppose to also include a large campus in the Loop but that floundered for years and was eventually cancelled when UIUC decided to instead be a partner in the new quantum computing center on the south side.

BoggleOhYeah··on Carnegie Mellon University Announces Historic $3B Gift from Ken Griffin
If anything, it could have been in Chicago but Kenny ran to Miami after spending a small fortune trying to install another puppet in the Illinois governor’s office after his previous one, Bruce Rauner, ran the state into the gutter.
BoggleOhYeah··on Most data centers refusing to say how much water, electricity they use
If you don’t cool the water down before putting it back, you’re just creating heat pollution.
