"Whose mines are these?" "Huh, just a flag."

Absolute Cinema

I once had a dream that this thing was the subject of a Top Gear episode and the three were given one each and they were tasked with modifying them in preparation for a race.

I'm gonna leave this here for anyone interested in a more in-depth tutorial.

CaesarAon Just redesigned my personal site with a TTY-style interface

This is a really cool design for a website, but I can't imagine it would be too user friendly for mobile users. It's still awesome to use on desktop.

CaesarAon Thomas Pynchon is Releasing a New Novel

Interesting, I'll check one of those other books out. The library I go to only ever seems to have his doorstoppers on the shelf.

CaesarAon Show HN: I made a little puzzle game about a rogue chess knight

That's the one I was thinking of, thanks.

CaesarAon Show HN: I made a little puzzle game about a rogue chess knight

This game is great. I played it for quite a few minutes. It reminds a lot of one the games that the inventor of Tetris designed for the Famicom. I can't remember the name of it at the moment.

CaesarAon Vtm: Text-Based Desktop Environment

A little bit actually, yeah. This looks great, thanks.

CaesarAon Vtm: Text-Based Desktop Environment

I always wondered if it was possible to have a TUI-style window manager inside the terminal. This is a fantastic project, whoever made it did a great job.

CaesarAon Photos of Every Writer's Typewriter

No specific reason. I've always found typewriters interesting and I enjoy it whenever I find someone who has, or still, uses them. They're a lot more enjoyable to write on than computers, to me at-least.

CaesarAon Photos of Every Writer's Typewriter

Good point. What model was the Olympia, if you don't mind me asking?

CaesarAon A Simple ELF

I still don't understand how people were able to write software in the days when assembly was the only option for speedy execution.

CaesarAon A Raycaster in Bash

I wonder if texture mapping this would look good.

CaesarAon Visual Basic 6 IDE recreated in C#

This absolutely amazing.

CaesarAon Pong.bash

This is cool, it reminds of when I would get bored and make little games as batch files for the windows command prompt a long time ago.

CaesarAon Ace of Aces: Why you should do maths as a game designer

This ia really neat, I always wondered how those books were designed.

CaesarAon Nerdy internals of an Apple text editor

As someone who has attempted to write their own text editor completely from scratch before, this would've been a tremendous resource to have.

CaesarAon Portal 64 – A demake of Portal for the Nintendo 64

I think this Apple II version of Portal is the best thing I have ever seen. Is this the same guy who did the Apple II version of Myst?

CaesarAon Portal 64 – A demake of Portal for the Nintendo 64

I was just watching a video about this, it's pretty cool and honestly impressive that it could be done on N64. They don't even have Half-Life 1 on N64, which makes me wonder if recreating Portal 1 decently in Goldsrc is possible.

CaesarAon Microsoft is killing WordPad in Windows

Next to things like Notepad, the Calculator, and Command Prompt, Wordpad is and has been one of the most useful programs ever bundled with Windows in terms of functionality and user-friendliness, so the idea of getting rid of it (even if it gets replaced) just seems kind of asinine.

CaesarAon Animated Knots

To be honest, outside of Wikipedia, this is probably one of the most useful websites on the internet.

CaesarAon Doom for 16-bit DOS computers

Maybe I am missing something but are all the wall textures replaced by the door texture?

CaesarAon Microsoft retracts AI-written article advising tourists to visit a food bank

Wow, good going Microsoft, for a company worth several billion dollar, you would think they had better quality control on their products.

CaesarAon Core War, a very old game about programming

To be honest, this sounds a lot more fun than the stuff they do in programming classes nowadays.

CaesarAon Core War, a very old game about programming

That sounds really cool, thank you for sharing.

CaesarAon A video game where you are an operating system

In idea, this reminds of the old game Core Wars and its special "Red Code" programming language.

CaesarAon Firefox address bar

Neat.

CaesarAon Apple-1 ELIZA chatbot vs. ChatGPT [video]

This pretty cool but I am kind of curious how GPT would react to the "Drunk ELIZA" version of the chat bot found at: https://danieltemkin.com/DrunkEliza

Something tells me it would lead to some pretty comedic results.

CaesarAon SkiFree has been recompiled using VS2019 for modern Windows

This is really neat, but also kind of redundant due to the fact that Microsoft Edge already includes a surfing game extremely similar to SkiFree, although it replaces the Abominable Snowman with a Kraken. I still think this is pretty cool though for those who want the original experience running on newer, none 16-bit, hardware.

CaesarAon The core problem with hamburger menus

I was a little bit disappointed when I discovered which type of hamburger menu they were talking about, I initially thought this article was going to address issues with the common types of sandwiches provided by fast food restaurants. But otherwise, I agree with the points stated in this article.

Although I would put my links in a <nav> section at the bottom of the page above the footer instead of inside the footer itself. Putting links in the header or the footer always seems to cause accessibility issues.

Or better yet, I would put links to the two or three most prevalent pages of the site as well as a link to a separate sitemap page in a navigation section under the header, so it would be something like:

"Home - About - Projects - Sitemap".
