CarlitosHighway··on Goodbye Claude, Hello Pi
Maybe he doesn't want to wear earplugs constantly and/or doesn't generate his own electricity?
CarlitosHighway··on Goodbye Claude, Hello Pi
Is OpenCode already passé? Especially with OpenChamber on top I don't see a reason to switch to PI.
CarlitosHighway··on Tesla to wind down Cybertruck production
Yes, and quantity and quality-wise that's nothing against the American hordes and their personality cults.
CarlitosHighway··on Goodbye Claude, Hello Pi
I dislike the harness TUIs for this for the same reasons. Nothing against TUI in general, the lazy* universe for example is great.

OpenChamber (the desktop app, not the VSC extension) for OpenCode currently works best for me. Especially because of its seamless remote control via their iOS app.

CarlitosHighway··on Tesla to wind down Cybertruck production
Realism has a chance again, now can Americans also wind down the cult-like following of figures like Musk, Trump, actors, athletes, and the likes? It's Unamerican. European royalists never were this crazy about their objects of affection.
CarlitosHighway··on Tesla to wind down Cybertruck production
These are exactly the kind of takes I still come to this site for!
CarlitosHighway··on Apple routed a graphite pipe through the iPhone Duo's hinge to dissipate heat
I’d consider this fixed thanks to agentic coding. Not fixed right now, but I trust Apple to scrap all cost saving workarounds (like Electron and its ilk) and go back to native every little thing. “Mac-assed” apps as they say.

The one thing that’s still unanswered is if and how quickly they will fix all the UX and UI mistakes left from the Alan Dye / Jony Ive era. Yes, Jony Ive - and his decision to scrap all Skeuomorphism on iOS which then was adapted for MacOS.

"Eh" (the Larry David "eh")
CarlitosHighway··on Everybody’s home. No one’s coming over
And again since 2016
CarlitosHighway··on Everybody’s home. No one’s coming over
You might be on to something. I am one of those school nights people. Having people over will kill all "me-time" for that evening - once you get them out of the house, you do the dishes and it's straight to bed, usually. Meaning I had zero time for myself, I was hosting. The idea of having no "me-time" between two work days is hell for me. It was OK in my 20s and 30s, but not now in middle age.
CarlitosHighway··on Everybody’s home. No one’s coming over
- "Sorry, but I'm on a low-carb diet, no carbs and especially not after 3pm"

- "Do you use gluten-free pasta? I think I have a gluten allergy."

- "Why always ethnic food like pasta? What's wrong with white people food, like Cheeseburgers?"

People have become too complicated.

CarlitosHighway··on You Are No Longer Invited to Dinner
Smoking actually has gone up in the recent few years with younger people, especially women. Not sure if buy the same amount in every country, but an uptick is noticeable.

And yes, this is all down to a few celebrities and influencers who are popular with that crowd showing off the habit in public. A fashion.

CarlitosHighway··on You are no longer invited to dinner
..as the American 20-something influencers on TikTok want you to know.
CarlitosHighway··on I can't stop thinking about Papua New Guinea
Interesting idea - but that doesn't change their poor choice of subjects to write about.

CarlitosHighway··on German ruling declares Google liable for false answers in AI Overviews
You sound like you fumble your way through life. You use "very touristy" businesses, which is a sign of low IQ or trashy tastes, and then you write a review on the internet instead of just moving on with your life (again, you should learn to live better), and ultimately get done again by the review being removed. I'd say you need to rethink your whole approach to being.
CarlitosHighway··on German ruling declares Google liable for false answers in AI Overviews
Well I do own Google stocks, since their IPO, but I'm not defending Google here but German culture against low-bro 400pounds American nerds.
CarlitosHighway··on German ruling declares Google liable for false answers in AI Overviews
Those law firms also have to operate within the law, doh. So if you think your review needs to stand, you should hire a law firm yourself and fight for your cause.
CarlitosHighway··on German ruling declares Google liable for false answers in AI Overviews
In Germany, we care more about facts and I'd rather have it stay that way. Americans lost their right to talk ANYTHING German a decade ago.
CarlitosHighway··on German ruling declares Google liable for false answers in AI Overviews
I disagree.
CarlitosHighway··on German ruling declares Google liable for false answers in AI Overviews
There's no point in weighing the pros and cons of laws, if people want to change them, they need to pursue the official lane to do so. Arguing on this American "Brainiac MAGA" forum will not help them in their goals to make Germany more like the US.
CarlitosHighway··on German ruling declares Google liable for false answers in AI Overviews
"it should always be assumed"...wow good luck with your life.
CarlitosHighway··on German ruling declares Google liable for false answers in AI Overviews
Victimless when there was a clear target for the insult? Interesting, but wrong take.
CarlitosHighway··on German ruling declares Google liable for false answers in AI Overviews
It would benefit you to read the applicable laws, keyword "Beleidigung".
CarlitosHighway··on German ruling declares Google liable for false answers in AI Overviews
In Germany, police killing innocent people in house raids is a very rare occurrence, I can't remember a case but of course it's possible that it happened.

So maybe Americans should worry about their own business and not tell a country with a much longer history what is best for them?

CarlitosHighway··on German ruling declares Google liable for false answers in AI Overviews
Well, it is an insult and the insulted always, before the internet and now, has the right to sue for it. Only because it happened on the internet doesn't change the law.

Seems very US tunnel vision. Source for this unspecific claim?
CarlitosHighway··on Show HN: Performative-UI – A react component library of design tropes
It needs some kind of "Japan" component...don't ask me what it does or how it looks like, but sites with performative UI will need some kind of reference to Japan.
