CmonNoReg··on John Carmack starting port of Wolf 3D in Haskell
Well, you better know the code you have written...
CmonNoReg··on Unreal JavaScript
So can you add some dynamic code into asm.js and expect same performance? Asm.js is an assembly that looks like JavaScript for compatibility and readability.
CmonNoReg··on Unreal JavaScript
Err... Have you ever heard of C#/WPF/WinForms?
CmonNoReg··on Ask HN: How many hours of sleep are you getting?
Which one did you get?
CmonNoReg··on Unreal Engine in JavaScript/HTML5 – Citadel demo
It is basically as if Flash Player became a browser.

Exactly, an open source standardized VM would be ideal, then you would have a choice of languages as well.

CmonNoReg··on Unreal Engine in JavaScript/HTML5 – Citadel demo
The only amazing stuff is the distribution mechanism really. Other stuff is just plain old OpenGL but in your browser this time. It is not like it has some crazy support for raytraced voxels or something.
CmonNoReg··on Unreal Engine in JavaScript/HTML5 – Citadel demo
I wouldn't write a large-scale game/engine in byte code. It is effectively a C++ demo.
CmonNoReg··on Unreal Engine in JavaScript/HTML5 – Citadel demo
So it basically means that C++ got another reasonable compilation target. Not much to do with applying JavaScript to large-scale games. Also it is not HTML 5, it is HTML FF23.
CmonNoReg··on Why isn’t there a glut of good software engineers?
...and they do not want to be better.
CmonNoReg··on Why isn’t there a glut of good software engineers?
...also sometimes people start using the building while you are still making it. Also each builder has his own style. And there is no final blueprint.
CmonNoReg··on Why isn’t there a glut of good software engineers?
"As Google hires all of the world’s good software engineers" - probably an exaggeration, but definitely not true. At least in UK salaries there are lagging, only good for experience and to have it on your CV. Any company is only hiring the best people they could identify of those who applied.
CmonNoReg··on Employers, Employees and Loyalty
Loyalty already has a definition: stock options. I am loyal to the spirit of the company, and that spirit is always about making money. Just give people a slice of cake, goddamit!
CmonNoReg··on Unraveling HTML5 vs. Native
Exactly. Right tool for a right task. No hype.
CmonNoReg··on Unraveling HTML5 vs. Native
It is a one word explanation to users asking why their app is slow/drains battery/doesn't feel like other apps.
CmonNoReg··on Why Node and Scala will dry up: Go will drink their milkshake
What are some well-know open source projects/products that are using it?
CmonNoReg··on Why Node and Scala will dry up: Go will drink their milkshake
What do you expect from a title that says "Your language sucks, please just pay some attention to our project"?
CmonNoReg··on Why Node and Scala will dry up: Go will drink their milkshake
Node & Scala haven't even defeated their predecessors yet. Another obscure functional language?
CmonNoReg··on There Is No Shortage of Tech Workers
"For every two students that U.S. colleges graduate with STEM degrees, only one is hired into a STEM job." As if everyone who graduates is actually capable of doing the job. As if all the colleges are equal.
CmonNoReg··on Box2d Revisited
Not too useful as does not include one of the very popular ports and an additional major platform:
