CodeCompost··on GNU Texmacs
The video is hosted on YouTube. Richard Stallman might have something to say about that.
CodeCompost··on Never buy a .online domain
Last year, my registrar wanted €64,99 to extend an online domain which I had created for fun.

No thanks.

CodeCompost··on How we rebuilt Next.js with AI in one week
Nice. Now rewrite it in Rust.
CodeCompost··on Hetzner Prices increase 30-40%
How much is the cost for Storage Boxes increasing?
CodeCompost··on Loops is a federated, open-source TikTok
I briefly hosted a Lemmy server on my machine just to see how it works and my god never again. The pictures that were automatically synced to my machine did not only make me lose faith in humanity, but it made me shut down and wipe my machine immediately because I was terrified that some of those images would land me some serious jail time.

So if you choose to host something like this, be very aware that there are some sick, sick people out there.

CodeCompost··on Pope tells priests to use their brains, not AI, to write homilies
Too bad Terry A. Davis is not around anymore. He would have been literally enraptured by LLMs.
CodeCompost··on An AI agent published a hit piece on me – more things have happened
Oh my goodness. I hope the Matplotlib maintainer is holding it together, must be terrible for him. It's like being run over by press car after having an accident.
CodeCompost··on Bullet Garden – a Vampire Survivors-like game in a single 85KB HTML file
`myvibe.so` domain. So this is where we're at.
CodeCompost··on Ring owners are returning their cameras
Any good alternatives? Preferably one that stores images on a local docker instance running within my network.
CodeCompost··on An AI agent published a hit piece on me
Going from an earlier post on HN about humans being behind Moltbook posts, I would not be surprised if the Hit Piece was created by a human who used an AI prompt to generate the pages.
CodeCompost··on GLM-5: Targeting complex systems engineering and long-horizon agentic tasks
I probably confused it because it was in 1989.
CodeCompost··on GLM-5: Targeting complex systems engineering and long-horizon agentic tasks
Oh yeah, sorry.

CodeCompost··on Clean-room implementation of Half-Life 2 on the Quake 1 engine
Ah. Looks like it is being blocked by my corporate software.

Thx for the replies.

SSL_ERROR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN

Seems to be using a dnsft.cloud.zyxel.com certificate. Is this a home router?

CodeCompost··on Don't rent the cloud, own instead
Microsoft made the TCO argument and won. Self-hosting is only an option if you can afford expensive SysOps/DevOps/WhateverWeAreCalledTheseDays to manage it.
CodeCompost··on Wisconsin communities signed secrecy deals for billion-dollar data centers
> Now Meta, the trillion-dollar company

How is it that Meta is worth a trillion dollars?

CodeCompost··on Microsoft's Azure Linux
Genuine question: Is Azure a giant Kubernetes cluster?
CodeCompost··on RIP Low-Code 2014-2025
Mendix is nothing more than MS Access for the Web.
CodeCompost··on Scaling PostgreSQL to power 800M ChatGPT users
Azure CosmosDB is insanely expensive. I can't imagine anybody using it unless you have OpenAI money.
CodeCompost··on Elasticsearch was never a database
Yes but is it webscale?

(Obviously I'm referring to a famous YouTube video on the subject)

CodeCompost··on Htmx: High Power Tools for HTML
What's holding me back from trying out HTMX is that people seem to be hitting roadblocks with it when it comes to larger or more complex codebases. Is HTMX suitable for larger enterprise applications? Or is it, as some people have suggested - perhaps cynically - a simple lightweight replacement of jQuery?
CodeCompost··on Unity's Mono problem: C# code runs slower than it should
It's called a grammar mistake. People make them all the time, that's why editing is a job.
CodeCompost··on Firefox will have an option to disable all AI features
Can we please stop calling LLMs "AI"? It's obvious now that there is no intelligence here and no trying to make it talk to itself and call is "reasoning" is not the answer.
CodeCompost··on Microsoft Copilot AI Comes to LG TVs, and Can't Be Deleted
Does LG have a customer feedback page or anything similar?
CodeCompost··on From Azure Functions to FreeBSD
Which means that you need a Visual Studio Enterprise license that costs $500 a month, unless you can get it though partnership programs. I take it OP doesn't have an Enterprise license.
CodeCompost··on From Azure Functions to FreeBSD
Azure Functions use Azure Storage to store its metadata.
CodeCompost··on GPT-5.2
For the first time, I've actually hidden an AI story on HN.

I can't even anymore. Sorry this is not going anywhere.

Why do I, as a European, have to pay for Trumpflation?
