DGAP··on Most people prefer traditional architecture
In public spaces I have no doubt this is the case.

I'm more curious about residential though - see huge interesting in MCM over the last decades. I am biased but I think there is a great deal of interest in warm, modernist spaces with ideas like natural materials and lots of natural lighting, especially when compared to the beige boxes of American home building.

DGAP··on New Amazon Data Center Is Set to Have the Most Polluting Power Plant in the U.S.
Renewables require storage because they are bursty - sun goes down, wind stops blowing. This is more expensive than just burning as much nat gas as you need.
DGAP··on Reducing tick density along recreational trails in Ottawa, Canada
One existed, it was pulled from the market in the early 2000s. There's still a dog one, and there is at least one which is in late stage trials in the US today.
DGAP··on Workers are spending over 6 hours a week botsitting AI, fueling job frustration
Don't worry, soon you won't have a job.
DGAP··on The way we treat pigs is a sin
I have so much hope for lab grown meat and animal byproducts, but between opposition to "gmos" and agricultural lobbying, I think it will take a century before it's the norm.
DGAP··on The way we treat pigs is a sin
Yeah, milk is disturbing. Most people's intuition about what is most humane to eat does not match the objective cruelty of what they consume. The life of an average cow versus the life of an average chicken for instance.
DGAP··on Claude Opus 4.8
I actually liked not having to choose the effort level for conversational usage, this feels like a step backwards.
DGAP··on Show HN: A cartographer's attempt to realistically map Tolkien's world
Cool!
DGAP··on Claude Code Found a Linux Vulnerability Hidden for 23 Years
I replicated this experiment on several production codebases and got several crits. Lots of dupes, lots of false positives, lots of bugs that weren't actually exploitable, lots of accepted/ known risks. But also, crits!
DGAP··on The ladder is missing rungs – Engineering Progression When AI Ate the Middle
There's going to be very very very few engineers.
DGAP··on Why are executives enamored with AI, but ICs aren't?
Well I'm not looking forward to being out of a job and health insurance.
DGAP··on You are not your job
But unless you’re independently wealthy, you are your income.
DGAP··on OpenAI Has New Focus (on the IPO)
Why do you think they hired Fidji Simo?
DGAP··on Coding after coders: The end of computer programming as we know it?
Lots of cope here. Highly paid white collar jobs are going to disappear.
DGAP··on “This is not the computer for you”
I fear this kind of experimentation will soon by killed by ai.
DGAP··on Netflix Salary Drop

DGAP··on MacBook Pro with M5 Pro and M5 Max
$5k machine for developers to just run claude code while they browse Reddit.
DGAP··on The happiest I've ever been
This is a nice sentiment and all but the issue is that I need to make money to pay for goods and services.
DGAP··on The Missing Semester of Your CS Education – Revised for 2026
This is great but irrelevant in the age of ai.
DGAP··on Ask HN: What career will you switch to when AI replaces developers?
So if being a developer means not making good money, and not actually writing code, what is the appeal?
DGAP··on Opus 4.5 is not the normal AI agent experience that I have had thus far
Time to get a new job.
DGAP··on A Research Preview of Codex
There aren't going to be senior engineers in the future.
DGAP··on A Research Preview of Codex
If you still don't think software engineering as a high paying job is over, I don't know what to tell you.
DGAP··on AlphaEvolve: A Gemini-powered coding agent for designing advanced algorithms
There's cope in the comments about possibility of some software adjacent jobs remaining, which is possible, but the idea of a large number of high paying software jobs remaining by 2030 is a fantasy. Time to learn to be a plumber.
DGAP··on A critical look at MCP
I assume the docs, code, and design were done mostly by AI.
DGAP··on Notes on rolling out Cursor and Claude Code
Even if you don't think AI will replace the job of software developer completely, there's no way compensation is going to stay at the current level when anyone can ship code.
DGAP··on How to harden GitHub Actions
Yep, and there's an opt-in to disable sudo which prevents circumvention. However this can break some actions especially ones deployed as Docker images. It also doesn't work with macos.
DGAP··on How to harden GitHub Actions
Great article!

I also found this open source tool for sandboxing to be useful: https://github.com/bullfrogsec/bullfrog

DGAP··on Ask HN: What career will you switch to when AI replaces developers?
I'll have to do something with my hands, kitchen skills are probably the only manual labor I can do better than average.

It's not a matter of fantasizing about an idealized version of a dirty, hard blue collar job, but an honest assessment of something that will last longer than coding and will pay me money to feed myself.

DGAP··on Robot Dexterity Still Seems Hard
Do these challenges apply to surgical robots? There's a lot of interest in essentially creating automated Davincis, for which there is a great deal of training data and for which the robots are prepositioned.

Maybe all this setup means that completing surgical tasks doesn't counter as dexterity.
