The technical term is webshits.
Perceptive readers might have noticed that most of these
arguments can be generalized. This article is much the same
if we replace “Discord” with “GitHub”, for instance, or “
Twitter” or “YouTube”.How does it compare to the closed-source/proprietary alternatives?
So? Why would you care about the downvotes? Your online experience will improve if you stop getting worked up about fake internet points.
Is keeping performance in mind and choosing the tech stack accordingly really a premature optimization?
This might be the most abused phrase in CS history. Perhaps we should add "Premature optimization fallacy" to the list of cognitive errors programmers use as an excuse to not seriously think about performance.
If you seriously think that's gonna happen, you haven't been to Go mockery stations on the interweb.
And if you do use them frequently enough, you might not even need to refresh/relearn anything.
Anyway, on a technical level, how do you deal with apps like Reddit/Twitter which have tons of porn content without the user leaving for external links that you can block? How do you monitor that?
It said 250, not thousands.
