I would argue its more than naive and misguided - it is intentional and sinister, pushed by the people who stand to profit without regard for what could go wrong. I wonder if accidents, involving people actually dying, will happen before attitudes change. And then they will say “Its a tragedy! We had no idea!” all the way to the bank
