>His reasoning for making this program, he wrote, is “to have the right to know on both sides of the marriage.” After public outcry, he later claimed his intention was to allow women, with or without their fiancées, to check if they are on porn sites and to send a copyright takedown request.

This was going to happen one way or the other regardless; I don't understand why it's so important for the author to spin his reasoning for making it.

This was my experience using a Greasemonkey script some time ago. Some posts would "come back", and there were pockets years back it couldn't even find to delete, but were still accessible on my profile. Wound up just deleting my account and making a new one that I never, ever post on.

I'm looking for a front end development role ideally working with Laravel. I have back end experience as well, but prefer front end layout. I'd also be happy doing design work in addition to development.

Unicomp (https://pckeyboard.com) ships internationally and makes the licensed Model M.

>Most likely in a couple of years we will have foldable screen phones that go for less than $1000

Considering how all the major manufacturers are pushing hard to get flagships over $1000, I don't see how this is possible

"I'm not important enough to spy on" is the one I hear over and over again.

Well, there's a wasteful answer to a problem nobody has.

I don't think "most people" are even aware of Yelp's previous issues. It's probably more just Google eating their lunch.

it's not that you're accessing them more frequently, it's that installing an app gives them more access to you.

Sums up Gizmodo in my experience.

Have had Pi-Hole running on an old 10" netbook for a little over a year now. Set it up just to play around with it, wound up being a perfect machine for it.

Agree about ad-blocking on mobile. The killer feature with Pi-Hole is that you don't have to set anything up on each individual device; anything connected to your network suddenly has near flawless adblocking.

The difference, though, is Reddit has no peers. The closest I'm aware of is Voat, which is basically the Isle of Misfit Toys for Reddit's banned hate speech subs.

The endless scroll view looks exactly like 9Gag. I never thought I'd see the day.

Uh oh, you suggested "Russian collusion" might be a load of crap. Good thing people are here to "downvote" and silence you.

We're literally in the middle of yet another Red Scare. You can speak out against such nonsense without being a Trump supporter.

>1) I'm in a couple specific regional groups that AFAIK have no non-Facebook counterpart (though they easily could). I think Facebook does groups poorly, but they serve the "non-technical community space" use case much better than any other popular offering that I know of.

These used to be called "forums" and were very popular until Facebook invented groups and murdered them all.

Arguably the same rules any subreddit with over a dozen members has broken at some point. You'll probably be linked to a list of posts with few/no upvotes that make "calls to violence". You can easily compile a list like this for any major subreddit on any subject, but people like to harp on T_D because it represents a bias they don't care for.

I think the lottery is doing just fine, and I'd bet most lottery players don't know the names of any lottery winners.

this is actually why I really like SO. Whenever you have a problem, you'll eventually find one comprehensive thread covering the solution. If they weren't so strict about duplicates or poorly formed questions, they wouldn't have such a strong collection of answers.

probably these, give or take: https://www.google.com/about/locations/?region=north-america

I buy bitcoin, it changes in value, I cash out, I now have a different amount of money than I put in. How is that not an investment?

I enjoy a slow burn, but 2001 for preschoolers? Might work for nap time I guess.

So, how does this work on a smart device? Do you plug the Yubikey into an OTG, or do you just not access anything on your phone?

St. Louisan here. What's really impressive about our murders is that basically ~95% of them take place within two small neighborhoods inside St. Louis city limits, which itself is but one small subsection of the metro area, which actually has a population hovering around 3 million. Those two neighborhoods, Dutchtown and North City, are impressively dangerous, so dangerous that even diluting them with the rest of the city still places us at the top of "most dangerous cities" lists year after year.

Some theaters let you reserve seats. In my region, none do. Luckily, in my region, most theaters do "$5 Tuesday", so everybody goes on Tuesday or Friday/Saturday night. Any other day of the week, at any time, is basically empty, so it's never been a problem.

Devil's advocate: smoking still looks cool.

Have you tried using an app like Forest etc. to avoid using your smart device? I'd like to start blocking off a 2-3 hour period of time every evening where I abstain from so much as handling my phone unless I'm receiving a call.

No headphone jack, no removable battery, no expandable storage, has an always-listening "feature" under the guise of music detection. And this is "the year's best smartphone".

When did smartphones start regressing?

Have been thinking about getting a Bunn to replace my aged Mr. Coffee. Have tried many other ways of making coffee and really just prefer the convenience of drip.

In the summer I make a gallon of cold brew at a time in a big jug on the counter.

This article seems relevant today, in regards to cryptocurrencies.

There's something... poignant? about how this sounds so dreary, and is the end result of mturk workers getting paid pennies to record their voices.
