Deritio··on Cryptocurrencies Have Broken Almost All of Their Major Promises
People buy smaller and smaller denominations of Bitcoin then.

Which means earlier you invest more your Bitcoin is worth.

Until someone realizes that who ever was rich before is now loosing valur by investing in BTC too late and making early adopters rich.

The question is only when this ruse gets so outbalanced that no one wants to invest anymore which will either lead to inflation or the big crypto burn.

Imagine Microblades: standard Android phone form factor slide in servers.

Building a home lab k8s cluster by buying something similar to a phone.you could go to a website say if you want a display or not, how much storage and than you have a flat server you just slide into your case.

Then a few years later you buy a stronger one and replace it while the old one is used by someone else.

Like how a Nas manages your disks, k8s could manage your Microblades.

Cheap ha with Autoupgrade capabilities.

I could also start using the outdated Microblades for offshoring when I keep them running at my parents place.

The enclosed could also provide networking and perhaps a 13" slide out display with a display selector.

Wikipedias definition of inflation sounds exactly like op said and what I assume as well:

'In economics, inflation is a general increase in the prices of goods and services in an economy. When the general price level rises, each unit of currency buys fewer goods and services; consequently, inflation corresponds to a reduction in the purchasing power of money.'

I can afford less for the same unit of currency (Bitcoin) therefore I have inflation or deflation if I get more.

And people claim that Bitcoin is inflation save due to a limit amount of bitcoins being produced (I read that multiple times) while this is just not true.

I like what grafana labs does with grafana.

Im annoyed by their license choice.

But apparently when you are grafana everything looks like a dashboard UI?

Joke aside I will have a look but I didn't like the screenshots before already. I like the dashboardy thing for dashboards but otherwise it's not a really good UI system for everything else.

Hearing your message bus assumption sounds like one of the most ridiculous claims I heard.

Sorry but why is rabbitmq really necessary?

Deritio··on Ultrawide monitors are overrated, here's why I use a 4K TV instead
I have a 2k 27" and wanted to upgrade to 4k for a while but only with above 100hz and IPS.

The first displays were just super expensive and the second generation consumer gamer displays have fans in it.

I also was surprised that a display can have a fan but was a no go for me as displays normally live very long.

I will have a look at yours and the LG one :-)

Oh boy oh boy that thread had lots of ETH and sETH and oETH und BTC and what not.

No wonder that it's hard for some people to see the Ponzi schemes, pyramid schemes and what else those things are called.

Regulations anyone?

Or do we now just see people loosing their money?

Deritio··on Overthinking (2021)
There are not many industry breaking huge china based companies globally in comparison of how many people they have.

Perhaps our way might not be that bad after all.

And while Chinese currently the EV market discovers it's totally unclear how the car industry will look in 10 years

Deritio··on Ultrawide monitors are overrated, here's why I use a 4K TV instead
I think 27" and 4k is a nice sweet point for a desktop screen.

I'm still waiting for one who doesn't have a fan in it.

Which o e do you have?

Deritio··on Lilium achieves first main wing transition for all-electric aircraft [video]
And you think that having the same amount of air taxies in the air that. SUVs on the street would still make the SUVs look bad?

Again at least with streets I know that an SUV will only crash close to streets with an air taxi it could crash everywhere.

Kindergarden? Yes.

Can we protect a kindergarden from an accidental SUV acceleration? Of course we can. Easy.

Deritio··on Lilium achieves first main wing transition for all-electric aircraft [video]
You have only that much of momentum from ground in comparison to something already in the air and just falling down.

We currently have a billion cars on the road. Of course we have plenty of accidents.

But that's not a valid comparison.

And perhaps we should also get rid of carsnow your argument is totally invalid

Deritio··on Lilium achieves first main wing transition for all-electric aircraft [video]
Now scale that up to a number which actually makes any difference and your SUV argument falls appart.

And yes it's totally valid as well to not allow it at all if only a handful of other people can benefit from it.

We are the people and I don't care if a rich person wants to do that. My airspace is more important than that one rich person.

Deritio··on Lilium achieves first main wing transition for all-electric aircraft [video]
I say 'not over my head'.

I also say 'do not start polluting the sky's

And ' keep the noise down'

Deritio··on Taking on Good Technical Debt
Technical debt is if you purposely don't write unit tests because you don't have the time for it.

Or clean code because no one will ever touch it again.

Or a feature you only need once and just write it somehow.

And then all this shit stays in your product and starts dragging you down.

This is totally different than when you start with a monolith and know that you might want to rework it later but accept potential future work.

And you should start with a modular monolith anyway.

I don't think it's reasonable to try to redefine the term technical debt.

Deritio··on Taking on Good Technical Debt
A small team should use the central k8s platform if it exists and it's the company base infrastructure layer.

Everything else would only mean less golden path support, less synergies etc.

Deritio··on Taking on Good Technical Debt
So instead of testing your companies CICD pipeline, contributing to it and making it overall better for everyone you now have a snow flake system only you use and know how to maintain?

I try to align when possible. I think your solution is hacky and costs the company much more in the long run.

Deritio··on Lilium achieves first main wing transition for all-electric aircraft [video]
It's not. The big plane fly area at airports.is a hard area to life in due to all the noise.

But small air taxies would first of fly much lower, always in the city and if it is cheap enough for all of us, you need more than just one.

And if it's not affordable for us, than there is no real reason for us to accept this at all.

And yes the big planes when they travel very high you can not hear them but it's also totally valid to have the discussion about air pollution and sky visual pollution.

But air transport for goods is actually something were we all benefit. Airmail as well.

Deritio··on Lilium achieves first main wing transition for all-electric aircraft [video]
Yes it is. A SUV rarly crashes into a building and when it does, it's often possible that humans die.

An airtaxi crashes down from a hight and speed. They will crash into and through your roof or into a street or directly into humans.

Airspace pollution is not a fake concern.

Why would we allow one company to fly over my head and another not?

Either it is so niche that it doesn't add any benefit to our society or it becomes so normal that air space pollution is a real issue.

I'm very very happy when I look into an empty/nearly empty sky.

This is a valid concern.

Deritio··on Lilium achieves first main wing transition for all-electric aircraft [video]
If population density is not high than it will not be cost efficient for the normal people.im surprised how many people here think that rich people who can afford to fly over a mountain regularly is a good thing.

Perhaps in 20-50 years when we solved climate change.

Those companies are not trying to just create a cheap and easy to use carplane they want to become rich which needs business viability.

And I don't mind if they solve some niche problems. I mind that they want to fly over my head every 10 minutes.

Deritio··on Lilium achieves first main wing transition for all-electric aircraft [video]
Owning a house doesn't just allow you to fly business all the time
Deritio··on Lilium achieves first main wing transition for all-electric aircraft [video]
Yes exactly! I'm traveling business all the time because it's so cheap.

Ah wait let me rephrase this: while more people can fly now economy got shittier than ever.

Also we live in 2022, the narrative that rich risk there life's was probably never true (they have test personal) and we have enough capital in our society to do certain things without the money of the rich.

Deritio··on Lilium achieves first main wing transition for all-electric aircraft [video]
Why would they?

They will probably want to fly across non easy terrain because otherwise you could just use some other means than an expensive helicopter.

Hight perhaps but you will fly across water, woods, power lines, cities.

Deritio··on Lilium achieves first main wing transition for all-electric aircraft [video]
And it then glides onto what?

Humans? A uneven roof? A busy road?

And for whom? The rich? People who can afford a few hundred dollars for a quick flight from the airport to the city?

How about no?

Deritio··on Lilium achieves first main wing transition for all-electric aircraft [video]
We know much more today than when no one knew what a car is.

And honestly we didn't do a good job. After all climate change is real, lead poisoning was real too.

Deritio··on Lilium achieves first main wing transition for all-electric aircraft [video]
I don't want to say that the world might look different in 20 years (probably even more)

Advances in ai, energy storage etc.

But right now, air taxi is just inherently stupid.

We know how to build those things. There is nothing really you need to invent. you just need to build them.

The problem are things like safety, airspace (who owns it), co2, terrorism, airspace Management...

Let's talk air taxi again when we can fly fully electric, are in the right way for climate change and when air control is no longer handled by humans.

Deritio··on Lilium achieves first main wing transition for all-electric aircraft [video]
That's not true.

Public transport is factors more efficient than air travel.

And yes including initial cost.

We build infrastructure to last not to throw it away 5 years later.

You need to understand how much more energy it actually costs to bring a plain up in the air and down again. We talk magnitude more energy than trains.

We can talk about this again in 20 years when solid state batteries are broken through.and sustainable energy sources are the norm.

Air taxi's ate not hard to build on a technical level. We know how to build them.

Deritio··on Lilium achieves first main wing transition for all-electric aircraft [video]
It's not 'just' a safety concern.

It's the safety concern and it's flying over my head.

There is always a risk/benefit ratio and just because a handful of people want to spend more money so that they can fly faster from the airport to the city center than others is not worth the security implications.

You are aware how much security is involved whenever you fly?

We talk an expensive license, regular flying hours per year (also not cheap), air control, restricted air zones, very regular safety plain checks.

Every single object on a commercial plane for example is tracked, every replacement etc.

Congestion is not solved by small expensive air taxies. If a normal taxi costs x, an airtaxi has to cost 4x and more.

We the people don't need to allow everyone everything just because they have the money into do so.

Deritio··on Google engineer put on leave after saying AI chatbot has become sentient
If a model can't act by itself, it can't form its own world.

It will always only be the input data.

The model doesn't just run in the cloud like our brain does. It gets loaded in memory and gets input when we interact with it.

Becoming aware of yourself needs more than regular text input. You need to be able to think through it by yourself therefore the default mode network.
