DrProtic··on Serbia just elected the world's brainiest parliament
What's unique in this scenario (I'm from Serbia) is that these elected guys didn't form a political movement, they weren't actively involved.

What happened is that students created a list of 250 people and vetted them.

So far they did an absolutely amazing job. There are LOT of potentially malicious actors from academia but so far looks like they did a good job at excluding them.

So those 250 people (not all of them are academics, only like half or so, maybe less) were chosen by students and they accepted.

So far, the whole movement and those people from the list haven't made a single mistake; and that's why they got 53% in election. And not ordinary election, these ones were marked by almost complete media blackout and outright lies (e.g. media claiming students are beating women, to give you an idea of what kind of lies).

Anyway, of course, we'll see.

The biggest focus right now for pretty much everyone is putting people in handcuffs, and I don't imagine much of ideological differences on that topic.

And they won't, system in Serbia is still the same - they will form ministries and prime minister leading them.

They will choose who will that be by a committee, but after that they have to function as usual.

DrProtic··on Serbia's Vucic concedes election defeat in historic win for student movement
The celebration that ensued was out of this world.

Eruption of celebration, people screaming from windows, playing music, blocking the streets - overall a night long frenzy throughout whole Belgrade.

That’s why we will probably see Fable 5.5 this evening.

US companies are throwing money at the problem, and considering how good Opus 5.5 is I’m not too concerned about them.

Of course they are.
DrProtic··on Gemini 4 Argon
I literally did that with Opus today and it did a great job.

I told it to strip screenshots from our old basic explainer video to generate modern 3D video.

Pretty happy with the result. I told it to keep the audio and match the video and it did.

Its not even more secure, Russia didn't conquer Kiev and Harkov because they're huge. They were only able to take on smaller cities and towns.

Noise.

I was on edge for last few months, but made a decision recently to not give another dollar to Anthropic.

It’s so obvious they’re playing safety card to get politicians to reign down on individual’s freedoms.

DrProtic··on True Rate of Unemployment
I looked it up and I have to correct myself.

So EU/Eurostat has surveys, Serbia does too (I’m from Serbia).

However most countries have also national way of determining the rate that works how I described, and they may differ quite a lot from Eurostat.

I guess EU introduced surveys with Eurostat so countries don’t juke the stats.

For example

- Denmark computes net unemployment straight from benefit and PES registers — administrative coverage is complete enough to do it without asking anyone. It still runs an LFS for the ILO figure. - Germany, Austria, Poland, Czechia, Spain publish monthly registered counts that dominate domestic debate, exactly the way NSZ figures circulate in Serbia. Each uses its own national definition, so none is comparable across borders. - Finland keeps a register series noticeably above its LFS count, similar in shape to the NSZ/ARS gap.

DrProtic··on True Rate of Unemployment
I my country you have to regularly check in with the bureau for unemployment to be included in the stats, even though that bureau hadn’t found a job for anyone ever.

I assume that’s how it works in many other countries.

Unemployed is the one actively looking for a job, not the one that’s just to working. At least that’s how governments seem to look at it, and their way of figuring out who’s looking is incorrect.

Cars under VAG sell TDI engines with a small battery and call it a hybrid.

No they aren’t, stop lying.

DrProtic··on A migrant surge tests Spain's open policies
This whole concept of you having to accommodate people illegally entering, or in this case, storming your border is so alien to me.

Once a force of 60k men violently break into your country your duty is to start shooting, instead they had Spanish citizens have to bar their house doors and windows with couches and tremble in fear. Completely insane.
