EREFUNDO··on Watch Mitt Romney's Facebook Likes Decrease in Real Time
I heard the secret service ditched him almost immediately after he lost.....
EREFUNDO··on The Latest On Intelligence
Studies have shown that the first 5 years of a child's life is when the brain develops the most. Proper nutrition and exposure to simple problem solving will significantly increase the chances of the child having a higher IQ.
EREFUNDO··on VCs are liars. And so am I.
Epic article.....thanks!
EREFUNDO··on VCs are liars. And so am I.
I agree. At the end of the day you still have to be pragmatic and intellectually honest to yourself. But if the critique is coming from someone who only heard your concept for the first time or that he/she has no domain expertise in the industry you're trying to get into then you should not accept it too easily. There is always a fine line between being stubborn and having dogged determination.....
EREFUNDO··on VCs are liars. And so am I.
Damn I feed off that shit too! What I noticed about myself is that I would try so much harder when people tell me I can't do it, I am hell bent on proving them wrong. The problem is that much of my life people have been nice to me......I need more assholes in my life....LOL
EREFUNDO··on Browserling Reaches 100 Customers
Are you guys really using alien technology?
EREFUNDO··on Meet the tireless entrepreneur who squatted at AOL
I think "don't die" refer mostly to his ambition and startup....epic!
EREFUNDO··on Pivots are a Trap
For our start-up we made a major pivot but it complements the original concept and even expanded it. If a pivot requires significant change in direction and scrapping major elements of your original idea then one really has to think hard before taking the next step.
EREFUNDO··on Crowdtilt (YC W12) raises $2.1M
Actually WePay is moving away its focus from group payments to small stores, merchants, and fundraising.
EREFUNDO··on How To Build A Startup From A Beach
The next step is to have a reality show about this. A few weeks into it they're gonna start fighting over who took who's toothbrush.....lol
EREFUNDO··on Once
haha we're still on stealth mode but we're building a system that will open online payments to the rest of the world. We mean EVERYONE!. 80-90% of people in emerging market economies have no access to online payments because they don't have bank accounts or credit cards. Our system will bypass that requirement and just enable people to accept payments immediately, it's that simple. Of course we are willing to discuss/brainstorm our ideas with other entrepreneurs.
EREFUNDO··on Once
My dad asked me once why I would ever leave my good paying Finance job to start a company with a 1% statistical chance of success. I told him that if you want to belong to the top 1% you have to take the 1% chance of success.
EREFUNDO··on Pair (YC W12), The Social Network For Two, Launches An Android App
I bet couples can find a lot of creative ways to use this, especially the touch vibrating feature. You can vote this comment negatively if you like but this is a very valid point I am making. This is as intimate as any app could get and there is a demand for this. Hey this is reality and we're all adults here. Gives more color to life and we only have one, enjoy it. Good work Pair team!
EREFUNDO··on How Twitter’s secret offer for Instagram made Facebook pay $1B

EREFUNDO··on Introducing Google Drive... yes, really
It's now a price war! good for consumers.....
EREFUNDO··on Introducing Google Drive... yes, really
Drew Houston definitely knew the threats to DropBox. I'm sure he already has a plan to counter this. He's been ready since 2007.
EREFUNDO··on Introducing Google Drive... yes, really
I wonder how different this is from insync ( insynchq.com ) when it comes to syncing googledocs.
EREFUNDO··on Introducing Google Drive... yes, really
I wonder how insync ( https://www.insynchq.com/ ) will adapt to this launch of Google Drive since they specialize on syncing googledocs.
EREFUNDO··on Ask HN: Rejected from YC? Who are you?
No we're not planning to link with WU directly, no need for that. You can actually build that network yourself by designing your system to be accessible to those involved in the distribution. Xoom.com built their own network from the ground up, and they only charge $5.99 per transfer. I had dealt with these distributors before when I launched moneytran back in 2005, too bad the state of CA didn't approve my license to transfer money because I didn't have the 500K minimum asset to qualify so I had to shut down. I tried to bootstrap it and I was just a one man team. Now I'm working with a brilliant team and we're trying to raise funding. Last time it was just all my savings. Because of regulations it is virtually impossible to bootstrap a payments or money transfer service.
EREFUNDO··on What good is experience?
Boom!
EREFUNDO··on Entrepreneurship's Dirty Little Secret
Well I agree that it's better to talk with people who did the exact same thing you're planning to do. The experience is more detailed. But her article is about entrepreneurship in general, not a specific type of business. That's why one of her advice was to work for a company that specializes on the industry you want to get into.
EREFUNDO··on Ask HN: WePay and Stripe
Well it depends on your average transaction and whether if you're OK if your customers are directed to the WePay site to make a payment.
EREFUNDO··on Entrepreneurship's Dirty Little Secret
I disagree. Your opinion was largely derived just from your experience. There are reasons why academics and intellectuals are better at explaining phenomena compared to individual experience. They research and aggregate the experiences of hundreds if not thousands of people, thus making their contentions universally applicable.
EREFUNDO··on Tell HN: YC Application Responses Are Out
I thought around 10% get interviews and 3% gets into the program?
EREFUNDO··on Show HN: I am making an online debating platform What do you think of the idea?
One of the "other" ideas we submitted to YC is something called the 'Dispute Resolution Wall'. It is a debate and discussion forum where readers can vote on each argument (limited to 150 words) by marking how many stars each argument will get. It will be limited to 2 weeks. The total number of stars will determine the winner. Participants can attach files, videos, or any evidence for their claims. We were hoping this forum will be used by marketplace listing and payments companies to handle disputes of transactions and take advantage of crowd resolution through voting. This could potentially create a buzz and get more traffic to participating eCommerce sites. A modified version can also be used by blogs and news outlets who would like to create more buzz in their comments sections by allowing the public to take a stand, comment, and vote on everyone’s arguments. For the first time blogs and comments sections will no longer just be an outlet for dissatisfied users to cry about what happened, but comments and arguments can truly impact the outcome of disputes. I am glad someone else is doing it for real, and I bet you guys are already many steps ahead with this compared to us. We only have a couple of pages of concept. We are currently focused in getting our payments platform off the ground and it's already a lot of work. The Dispute Resolution Wall was the next idea we're considering if PayGuard did not work out(http://stark-river-6968.herokuapp.com/). It makes me feel good that someone is really doing this because it is validating the idea. Good luck!

We are PayGuard and we're building a payments platform that would specialize in long-distance/cross-border transactions. http://stark-river-6968.herokuapp.com/ We do this by combining your normal payments gateway with the global network of an international money transfer company (Western Union) with the twist of "escrow". We got our rejection letter too but we are forging ahead with launching our beta late this May. We believe eCommerce will globalize and payments will be at the forefront to make this happen. We want to create a world where anyone can buy or sell anything anywhere. We would appreciate any candid feedback on our idea....intellectual honesty is the best weapon against self delusion.

EREFUNDO··on Ask PG: Interview Calls Yet for S12 Batch - It's 16Apr12 :)
Nope. I think it will be late in the day...around 9-10pm. That's what I read in one blog. Anyway I would probably find out when I get to work tomorrow morning as I have no internet at home.
