Eezee··on The gap in shared understanding of LLM capability is widening
I can do a project that took me weeks/months much faster now as long as I don't have to involve other people in the decisions.
Eezee··on Anthropic researcher believes more than 10% chance AI 'could kill all humans'
0% is the expected answer, because otherwise why wouldn't you be doing everything you could to stop this?
Eezee··on Costco is the anti-Amazon
How is a delivery service unproductive? Division of labor is one of the most fundamental principles in our economic system. You being able to do it yourself in your free time doesn't make it unproductive. You could also make your own clothes, that doesn't make the clothes industry an unproductive endeavor.
Eezee··on The dead economy theory
Let's say you do all that. What about literally every other country on earth that is not the home of Openai/Anthropic/Google?
Eezee··on r/programming bans all discussion of LLM programming
I don't know if Claude Code is actually a great example. If you have used it for longer periods of time, you will have noticed how insanely buggy it is. And for every bug that they finally fix, there seems to be a new one introduced. I don't even mind vibecoding. I have vibecoded a couple of tools that me and my coworkers use every day to make our lives easier but I'm not going to pretend they are anywhere close to something that I would release to the public.
Eezee··on US plans online portal to bypass content bans in Europe and elsewhere
It describes incestuous child rape, because the author describes his experience of being raped. Victims speaking about their abuse, now that is one step too far and needs to be censored.
Eezee··on A German ISP changed their DNS to block my website
Just tried and it's blocked on Telekom with the default DNS.
Eezee··on OpenAI charges by the minute, so speed up your audio
That's completely different. Imagine you are reading a book and the words only get revealed to you at 1 word a second. You would get annoyed if your natural reading speed was higher than that.

Same with a video. A lot of people speak considerably slower than you could process the information they are conveying, so you speed it up. You still get the same content and are not skipping parts as you would when skimming a book.

Eezee··on Germany eyes 10% digital tax on global tech groups
Especially since the only party to the right of Merz are actual right-wing extremists.
Eezee··on Getting AI to write good SQL
I tried it out because of your comment and the very first prompt Gemini 2.5 Pro hallucinated a non-existant plugin including detailed usage instructions.

Not really my idea of good.

Eezee··on Comic Mono
You need at the very least 4 of those $15.50 fonts to cover italic and bold.

If I could get the entire font family for $30 or so I would consider it despite all the free alternatives, but $150 is just way too much if you are making a non-US salary.

Eezee··on Changes we're making to Google Assistant
Did you actually try your cinema prompt recently? I just asked my pixel phone "tell me showtimes for aquaman in Berlin" and it immediately opened an overview of cinemas with showtimes for the Aquaman movie today with options to buy the ticket.

Same for the weather prompt someone else posted above and contrary to their experience it showed me exactly what I expected.

I'm a bit confused if those examples are something that didn't work in the past or if it's something that somehow doesn't work properly in the US right now.

Eezee··on Bethesda's Starfield is a disgrace to game development and a slap in the face t
The mod sounds a lot more petty than the removal of said mod.

Is a single drop down menu that only shows up once during character creation really triggering the author of that mod that much?

Eezee··on Aspartame: Once More Unto the Breach
I get that as well and I live somewhere, where HFCS is not used, so I don't think that is the culprit.

Personally if given the choice between a regular coke and coke zero, I will choose the zero every time.

Eezee··on Twitch: New TOS bans multi-streaming/simulcasting
Just looked it up, since I remembered hearing about it and apparently there are some new rules where you only need one if you average more than 20000 viewers.

That's the case for just 2 streamers in Germany. No other streamer had more than 20k average viewers in the last 30 days, but some are close, so they might have one as well.

Eezee··on Ask HN: Is it possible to have a structured work day in software dev?
How is having a structured workday where you consistently work the same 9 how window and expecting to spend your evenings with your partner/kids/friends unreasonable?
Eezee··on RootMyTV is a user-friendly exploit for rooting/jailbreaking LG webOS smart TVs
If you haven't yet, you could put your HDMI devices on the quick access buttons (long press on the number buttons). I pretty much never use the home screen, despite using multiple HDMI devices and a bunch of streaming services.
Eezee··on Ask HN: What is your “I don't care if this succeeds” project?
One of the documents shared on the page is a letter to the constitutional court of Germany where the plaintiff explains how not taking his case constitutes a mortal sin for which the president of the court will go to hell and lectures him that he cannot visit church services anymore. It is very hard to take the rest seriously if the same person is claiming the corruption.
Eezee··on Amazon says it’s permanently banned 600 Chinese brands for review fraud
A 15$ shoe is not mid-range though. That's absolute bottom of the barrel. And looking at the Costco website their shoes can be had for 18$ and the most expensive shoe i can see is 35$, which i would still classify as cheap and not even mid-range.
Eezee··on The real reason to end the death penalty
I have no idea why you would think that. The maximum sentence is 21 years, they much is true, but that doesn't mean he will be released. There will be extensive psychological evaluations and the sentence can be extended indefinitely if Breivik is still considered a danger to society.

This seems honestly like something you would read on a far-right conspiracy website about what a liberal hellhole Europe is.

Eezee··on [dead]
The doctor in this video is still promoting Hydroxychloroquine, is anti-masks and posts conspiracy theories about the CDC being funded by Bill Gates on his Twitter, implying that the CDC is upplaying the pandemic because of that. He also retweets people who say that the covid crisis is not an actual pandemic.

Pretty much exactly who I would expect to appear on a right-wing propaganda outlet.

Eezee··on Powell’s says it won’t sell books on Amazon anymore
You guessed what the content is from the title alone and then judged the book by your made-up content instead of actually finding out what the book might be about.

Now that is embarrassingly reductive gibberish.

Eezee··on Reddit shuts down subreddits including r/The_Donald and r/ChapoTrapHouse
Calling bitchute fringe seems to be very kind. I just took a look at their front page and they are promoting videos about Holocaust denial and 2 of the first 10 videos are blatantly antisemitic.

Parker requires an account, which I'm not willing to make, but if it's similar to the last conservative Twitter alternative Gab, it's all just racist drivel with barely any 'normal' conversations.

While alternatives to the big corporate social media are obviously needed, they very often attract the most toxic members of society, which most sane people won't be comfortable associating with.

Eezee··on Common Web Developer Interview Questions And Answers
Why would you expect grads to come up with the logarithmic solution? That's a piece of trivia that says absolutely nothing about their actual capabilities, just how well they remember their linear algebra.

Also why stop there? An actual smart coder would have looked up the constant time solution instead of bothering with any of that.
