Erazal··on Ask HN: How can we solve the loneliness epidemic?
Encouraging people to meet up in everyday life and gathering them just to talk is where I’d simply start.

In that spirit I have created and deployed a vibe coded app: come have dinner.com (not the real website).

A simple website we share with my SO to our loved ones, friends, co workers and more. People can register to come have dinner at ours, with an attendance they don’t know.

The website has an admin interface with a simple password, some good jokes, email reminders and calendar invitations.

Should I open source it?

Sorry for the support query here - but I’m blocked in a bus and am HOOKED.

At the moment the prompt just loops for a second and then produces no answer :(

Erazal··on Launch HN: Bitrig (YC S25) – Build Swift apps on your iPhone
Quick note: it’s hard to pull down the prompt panel down, and makes for a frustrating UX (just there)

I’ve just tested it out, and purchased a subscription within 5 minutes, for an app we were seriously discussing with a friend over the last days.

Keep crushing!

Erazal··on AI note takers are flooding Zoom calls as workers opt to skip meetings
If anyone is interested in running their own meeting bot (doubtful aha), check out our open source repositories: https://github.com/Meeting-Baas

Also we provide on-prem installation so meeting data doesn't leave your company :))

Erazal··on Ask HN: Anyone making a living from a paid API?
also check out Meeting BaaS (meeting bots as a service), we're an open-source competitor.

We thought long and hard of creating an SDK but did not go that route for now. Our main problem is that if you have to support Windows machines you're putting the finger into something really complicated.

And then depend on the end user's specs, etc.

So I'm really curious, in your case are you planning on deploying to Apple machines (m1+)? Or also set it up on Windows machines?

Erazal··on Launch HN: Better Auth (YC X25) – Authentication Framework for TypeScript
Been using it for the past 2 weeks, love it :)

It's a shame I didn't add more providers there since then!

Erazal··on Show HN: Mikey – No bot meeting notetaker for Windows
Creator of MeetingBaaS here (sorry for the double ping), you actually start lower than $1 / hour, rather $0.69 / hour and that scales down quite fast

Unfortunately cloud infrastructure has a cost :/

Erazal··on Show HN: Mikey – No bot meeting notetaker for Windows
Hey :)

Creator of MeetingBaas here

We're actually thinking of open-sourcing our bots too!

Erazal··on Pear AI founder: We made two big mistakes
That’s not something I’d be putting forward either, anywhere. In my opinion, it’s just a way for them to be putting forward their “value,” which actually feels dishonorable.
Erazal··on App to transcribe and chat with meeting transcriptions
hey that's pretty cool

Are you using insanely-fast-whisper?

Would be happy to contribute if it were open-source (been working in the field, with meeting bots, since 4 years)

Erazal··on Launch HN: MinusX (YC S24) – AI assistant for data tools like Jupyter/Metabase
A Grammarly-style retrofit would’ve actually been appropriate here—I made a syntax error.

If you don’t mind, I’ll be stealing and using that analogy!

We were talking about that approach today with a friend who unifies parking apps across the country. He calls his engine UMM—Ultimate Macro Machine.

I’m working in the “classic” generic browser-automation agents with a unified API for meeting bots (transcription, voice input, etc.).

I really like you retrofit analogy - not sure if you coined it or geohot has.

It seems to me that's where a ton of start-ups are currently converging - not repairing the old, which would be too complicated, but understanding and "mending" for new usages, or functionalities.

Erazal··on GPT-4o
I'm not as much surprised by the capabilities of new model (IMHO same as GPT-4) as by it's real time capabilities.

My brother who can't see correctly, will use this to cook a meal without me explaining this to him it's so cool.

People all around the world will now get real-time AI assistance for a ton of queries.

Heck - I have a meeting bot API company (https://aimeetingbot.com) and that makes me really hyped!

Erazal··on Ask HN: Has Anyone Trained a personal LLM using their personal notes?
have never found it powerful enough - or I'm just setting too high a bar?

I have a ton of databases on Notion (with all my teams conversation transcripts, meeting to-dos, etc.) and global AI search just isn't there.

I haven't found a way there (but have elsewhere using open source) to create a kick-ass search.

Erazal··on Ask HN: Has Anyone Trained a personal LLM using their personal notes?
This is where having our own LLMs and stacks running locally will save and empower us IMHO
Erazal··on Ask HN: Has Anyone Trained a personal LLM using their personal notes?
I just DM'ed you.
Erazal··on Ask HN: Has Anyone Trained a personal LLM using their personal notes?
hadn't seen your repo yet [1] - adding it to my list right now.

Your blog post is really neat on top - thanks for sharing

Erazal··on Ask HN: Has Anyone Trained a personal LLM using their personal notes?
oh damn, I'm using gitbook too actually - for our users [1]. Not open-source but will definitely try it out ASAP.

I'm currently looking to implement RAG locally, using QDrant [1] for instance.

Just playing around for now, but it makes sense to have a runnable example for our users too :) [2].

I think you're right
Erazal··on Ask HN: Has Anyone Trained a personal LLM using their personal notes?
I've created an AI Meeting Bot API to do just that [1].

At the moment it runs on AWS, and we're thinking of open-sourcing so you could also run it locally to maintain 100% privacy of such conversations.

You'd get speaker diarization, names on top of the recording [2].

[1] https://aimeetingbot.com [2] https://spoke-1.gitbook.io/ai-meeting-bot

Happy to get in touch and have you run it

Erazal··on Ask HN: Has Anyone Trained a personal LLM using their personal notes?
wow - really cool.

I'm actually the founder of an AI Meeting Bot company - and we're thinking of open-sourcing so you could run exactly this set-up locally with perfect diarization / recording while also maintaining privacy [1].

I'm currently creating code examples, and just finished the "chat with each session". Would love to know how you implemented it.

Erazal··on Every default macOS wallpaper
I've sent out an e-mail :)

And yes I LOVE it! I've installed on at least ~4 different machines of friends as well!

Erazal··on Every default macOS wallpaper
I'm obsessed with having a clean desktop, and beautiful wallpapers. Until recently, I used a neat little app for MacOS called Artdiario [1] that would update my wallpaper every day with a beautiful piece of art and I LOVED it.

"Used to" because it looks it's not updated anymore since around 2 months :(

Was thinking of re-creating the same "open-source" version of it, that would pick and show art from museums around the world every day [2].

Would some of you be interested?

And if by chance you're reading me Jimmy - I love the app and would be happy to help maintain / curate it!

[2] a ton of museums provide free access to their art, such as the National Gallery of Art - https://www.nga.gov/open-access-images.html

Erazal··on Examples of AI rip-offs making their way into Google News
yes I've definitely thought quite a few times about open-sourcing our company code (AI note-taker for remote meetings). But then the hard thing is Kubernetes on top...

And as always not sure our "closed-source", "employee only" code would be useful to anyone not working with us :/

Erazal··on Examples of AI rip-offs making their way into Google News
ok I'm biased because I work in exactly this sector: automated meeting minutes make life easier and are powered by LLMs.

US employees spend 18 hours / week in meetings so that is a noticeable improvement IMHO.

Erazal··on En Route: A Magazine About Trains in Japan [pdf]
same here, I was thinking of doing just that as a screen-saver!

My initial idea before reading your comment (probably hard too implement) - take around the "most replayed segment" if there is one.

Would love to have the script to play around!
