Fastidious··on Parley: Federated, decentralised chat that speaks plain IRC
That seems to be similar on this one. &room is local, while #room is federated.
Fastidious··on Show HN: Windi – knowledge management and sharing platform based on short notes
Nice rant, but it has nothing to do with the app itself. Just use JS, done.
Fastidious··on Charge, a phone company with features for nerds
Sprint? No, thanks.
Fastidious··on ZeroTier - Simple Software Defined Networking
Is there a simple document that guides through building and configuring my own public node? Thanks!
Fastidious··on Should Prostitution Be a Crime?
Yes, religion (especially Christianity) comes, once again, to mess things up. It is the cause of many problems we have today, and it affect us all, as it is deeply ingrained in politics and government.

I can go and sell blood, or work ten hours a day, or eat until I explode, yet I have someone dictating what I can or cannot do with my sex life?

Certainly more than a few remnants from the dark ages.

Fastidious··on Should Prostitution Be a Crime?
Absolutely not. There is too much regulation as it is. Cigarette smoking harms, the smoker and others. Prostitution does not.
Fastidious··on Eyes Everywhere: Encryption programmer Paul Le Roux and his commando kill squad
Time to switch browsers. Chrome v51 (dev) under OS X renders it flawlessly.
Fastidious··on Open-Source Recycling
Not everyone has the skills, nor the tools to do this. I love the idea, and wish someone would make the machines (or the entire kits to assemble at home). I would buy them!
Fastidious··on The Fight for the Future of NPR
I love NPR too, and I do not think podcasts can even begin to match the audio-documentary experience that NPR provides. Having BBC on it is an amazing bonus.
Fastidious··on The Unix Time-Sharing System (1974) [pdf]
You meant OS X? ;-)
Fastidious··on Explosions in Brussels Kill at Least 13
HN isn't only about reporting, but about discussing, no?
Fastidious··on Today's Apple event spells the end for OS X
Nothing. Pretty much the same Apple's announcement for the new iPad has to do with "the end" of OS X. ;-)

I do not see the death of OS X on iOS. If anything, I see it morphing.

Fastidious··on Reserving your Model 3
Is there, somewhere on that page, information about the price of the car we can make the reservation? Are they taking reservations without stating the car price at all?
Fastidious··on How the New York Times Sandbagged Bernie Sanders
You are assuming the vast majority sees CNN, etc. and/or reads the NYT. That, I think, is too bold.

I don't think there is anything in common between the two, from personalities, party affiliation, to how they conduct themselves in public.

Fastidious··on Common Search – nonprofit search engine for the Web
I do not sense any anger on the OP comment. It sounds like a legit, real concern.
Fastidious··on Nylas N1 now has snooze, swipe actions, emoji, and more
Yes, but Gmail and Outlook are "original" providers. I feel very uneasy, and find it unreliable and untrustworthy to allow another company access to my emails and contacts.

An email client for me is one that runs on my desktop, and talks to my "original" provider, nothing else.

Fastidious··on My husband raped two women – and I had to answer for his crimes
She didn't "go for" a violent criminal. She married a man, without knowing he had issues.
Fastidious··on Show HN: Jukebox, a music player for Dropbox for iOS
Very nice! Can you do the same for Google Drive, please? I would love to be able to play all the music I have in it; I am sure I am not alone.
Fastidious··on Softlayer Plans to Block Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria
Perhaps it is an old page, out of date?
Fastidious··on Veertu – native Mac virtualization available on the App Store
Very small application. Works great!
Fastidious··on RemixOS – Android for the desktop
It will run on hardware other than Apple, for those who do not own an Apple computer. It will be "always on", similar to iOS. If you use Android on your phone, you will feel right at home.
Fastidious··on RemixOS – Android for the desktop
This is very nice, and priced just right. Could easily replace the desktop of just about everyone in my family.
Fastidious··on Show HN: CloudMagic Email for Mac
I will drop by and write some of my ideas. What I absolutely do not want is for the client to rely on, yet another, third party servers/services.
Fastidious··on Show HN: CloudMagic Email for Mac
Does it require a CloudMagic third party server to operate, or it is a plain vanilla email client?
Fastidious··on Show HN: Missive, a new email client for Mac
Does it requires a login, and/or my Gmail/Yahoo/etc. emails have to pass thru a third party server (yours)?

Edit:

Answered on help: "Every connection between Missive clients and our servers is encrypted using the Transport Layer Security standard (TLS). This also applies to connections between our servers and Gmail when we fetch your emails."

Thanks, but I pass.

Fastidious··on Ask HN: What's your favorite “read later” web tool?
I prefer Pocket (https://getpocket.com/). It is clean, it works very well, and it is free. I use it under iOS and OS X.
Fastidious··on In Danger: The life and death of Julia the gorilla
It clearly says "Julia the gorilla," not "Julia the programming language," or "Julia programming." :-P
Fastidious··on Polymail: A simple, beautiful, and powerful email client for Mac
I am sure you will use their server(s) somehow ("added value service"). Yet another email client that is more than what it seems. Of course, all speculation.
Fastidious··on April Zero v3
Facebook account required.
Fastidious··on new TLD: .BOT
I doubt it will be available. Normally two letters domains are reserved.
