FlaceBook··on AT&T Helped N.S.A. Spy on an Array of Internet Traffic
> I know that mindset doesn't match many of the people here on HN

Right, the people here on HN only support spying when they are the ones doing it to users for "ad targeting" purposes.

> PG always came across to me as unusually thoughtful and smart and friendly (let's be honest he's a great guy)

He's also amazing and incredible and handsome and witty and strong and I love him oh so much.

Could also be replaced with "Ask <anyone mildly successful in the industry>" and applied to real life events populated by the same crowd.

FlaceBook··on Amazon Echo Released
In order to trust Amazon, you would also have to fully trust the government(s) that have the authority to force Amazon to do things.
FlaceBook··on Amazon Echo Released
It still amazes me that people actually pay money for the opportunity to have one of these things listening to what goes on in their home 24/7.

FlaceBook··on Securing Email Communications from Facebook
This sounds like another completely pointless PR stunt to fool people into thinking Facebook gives a shit about their privacy.
FlaceBook··on “We are only collecting the list of applications you have installed.”
You make many assumptions.
FlaceBook··on “We are only collecting the list of applications you have installed.”
You mean a 'transformative' disruptive synergistic cloud experience offer?
FlaceBook··on “We are only collecting the list of applications you have installed.”
I doubt it. Even if Google can't use the data they're getting from searches done via that service to target ads to specific people, they're still getting valuable data on what people search for generally.
FlaceBook··on “We are only collecting the list of applications you have installed.”
It's a disruptive synergistic cloud experience!
FlaceBook··on “We are only collecting the list of applications you have installed.”
Because it upsets people like you.

It's also the way I personally choose to protest the corporate and government surveillance state we're living in.

FlaceBook··on Ross Ulbricht Sentenced to Life in Prison
> I see an issue with treating drug users (esp. recreational drug users) as somehow "less than human" because of their choices.

The justice system only sees them as "less than human" until they can conveniently be used to create an emotional scene which can be used as ammo against someone the government doesn't like.

See: the poor defenseless kid who would still be alive today if it weren't for the silk road forcing him to buy drugs and take them

FlaceBook··on Ross Ulbricht Sentenced to Life in Prison
After reading comments here and on arstechnica, I'm terrified by the number of people who still seem to blindly trust our government and support the drug war.

Another scary thing is how many people have "convicted" this guy of things that he was never convicted of, and used those things as a point from which to justify his sentence here.

FlaceBook··on “We are only collecting the list of applications you have installed.”
It amazes me that people are still dumb enough to install apps from any of the social networks.
FlaceBook··on “We are only collecting the list of applications you have installed.”
I have around 10 gmail accounts, each of which only receives random junk from various sites and mailing lists. I create compressed, encrypted archives that contain only random data, and use them to fill my "drive".

Google is welcome to analyze as much of that as they want.
