Grum9··on US President says he will ban the term 'artificial intelligence'
He likes to rename things, who cares, it will changed the moment hes out of office. But rename schools and streets because it was named after a historical figure belonging to a countries history that needs to be erased, now we're talking.

Grum9··on DHS removes all members of cyber security advisory boards, halts investigations
The "U.S. Coast Guard was formed by a merger of the U.S. Revenue Cutter Service and the U.S. Life-Saving Service on 28 January 1915" (wiki).

The US Department of Homeland Security "began operations on March 1, 2003, after being formed as a result of the Homeland Security Act of 2002, enacted in response to the September 11 attacks" (wiki).

So are you saying that for 78 years of its existence, the USCG had no "plan for when large fishing vessels get into trouble, and indeed a plan to stop them getting into trouble" until the DHS assembled a (assuming this is a thing) "National Commercial Fishing Safety Advisory Committee"? You dont think theres any redundancy? That just maybe bureaucracy cant help but to expand forever every time someone with a title has a question that cant be answered immediately by someone standing in the room, they have to create a committee so they can have someone on speed dial? If the coast guard doesnt have plans for this, one wonders what the coast guard does all day.

Grum9··on Losing Trust in Google
He likely did not and would not. A quick search using America as an example says that prompting CEO and getting a white male would make it 94.1% correct, if the number of 5.9% of CEOs are black is to believed. And of the approx. 3 million nurses 86.0% are woman, which makes those prompts very accurate. The same cant be said when a prompt including the word white with male or family returns anything but 95% of the time.

But they are the messengers, yet cant be bothered with any of this themselves, the only suggestions they ever have are what the rest of us can do to offset their life styles. Next Davos meeting online? Haha, oh you (adjusts monocle)... practice what you preach.

Or you can pretend some investor or politician somewhere doesnt rub elbows directly or indirectly with the companies that do the shit in the article. They control everything on the planet, business and politics, stuff like this article is just what comes to light. It could be fixed with a fucking phone call, but they might have to pay some overtime, which hits the bottom line, and they wont lose a nickel to back up their bullshit because their 14th bathroom needs a new gold shitter and those things are expensive.

Its more cost effective for me to chip my tooth on a metal straw or stop eating altogether.

I dont dismiss environmentalists, only their ineffective ideas, I happen to like clean water and air and think environmentalists are necessary check against corporate carelessness. Most people trying to solve a problem would focus their efforts on the low hanging fruit, in an attempt to have the largest impact in the shortest amount of time. But instead the focus is on petty targets that are simply annoying or unsightly, we ban plastic straws and bags, gas stoves and lawn mowers, loud engines, run farmers out business for using fertilizer to feed ourselves and a growing population, only to find out theres an extra UKs worth methane being pumped into the air because someone cant be bothered to find a crescent wrench and tighten some pipes. If the world ends it wont be because living creatures fart too much, it will because of idiocy (low yield ideas), laziness (this oil field), hypocrisy (the rich on their jets eating steak), and being more concerned with trying to appear to be accomplishing something rather than actually accomplishing it.
Grum9··on Unity builds lurked into the Firefox Build System
Been using unity builds forever. The trick is to also have a standard build and try to compile it every week or so to catch anything that might have been missed, like a source file that is missing a header and wont compile alone because it got the header through the unity build ordering.

... Florida House Bill 1467. It requires all schoolbooks to be reviewed by a district employee holding an educational media specialist certificate, to ensure the books are grade level appropriate and free of pornography.

how books with porn got into a childs library I dont know, makes sense you would want to be thorough in reviewing everything.

Grum9··on Motion Canvas – Visualize complex ideas programmatically
Do people not understand how big a difference a single image on the main page can make? I see visual in the title (or it reads as something visual), I click, I see a wall of text, I close and move on. Grum9··on Microsoft announces new Bing and Edge browser powered by upgraded ChatGPT AI
I recently setup a new laptop for someone with windows 11 and was surprised how easy it was to get around the online account stuff. The wifi was on when I hit the account setup part, I didnt want to make an account for someone else (name an email and password for someone else, what a mess, no thanks), so I powered the router down. The account screen didnt seem to give any options at all to work around it and make a local, but after the router was off, I got in without an online account, I dont even think the local had a password given, I could get in by just clicking a "Sign In" button.
