Fable 5.1 is good for better knowledge and tasks that require a more meticulous output, and it's objectively better at design and mockups IMO, but I rarely resort to it outside of that.

I generally use Fable for high-level blueprinting, architecture, and technical planning, and I tell it to write most of its documentation in a way Opus 5.5 will understand and maximally benefit from; with the added prompt for Opus to concede when a task would be better off to bring Fable back in. I've had ZERO problems.

HaZeust··on DOJ says presidents should be able to sell secrets on eBay
I admire the optimism; but unfortunately it benefits ANY party in power, so there's little incentive to ignore or overrule. The gauntlet is thrown.
HaZeust··on DOJ says presidents should be able to sell secrets on eBay
I mean, read the decision. Any evidence that proves whether a contested event or action was "official" or not is inadmissible in court. The Courts cannot investigate the President's motives when deciding whether an action was official or unofficial, and prosecutors cannot use evidence of immune official presidential acts to establish criminal liability, even when prosecuting separate, unofficial conduct.

We simply HAVE to take the Executive's word for whether an action was official or not.

HaZeust··on Tesla cancels Cybertruck in Australia and NZ after 7 years of deposits
This comment makes apology for grifting, and a good case for bad-faith dialogue - whether to troll, to be unreasonably contrarian, or otherwise.

They gave their money for a Cybertruck, and the liquidity from those reservations was most likely use to posture company assets/P&L, earn interest in a treasury, and whatever other financial weasel techniques that the lawyers and financiers of the world's first trillionaire - Elon - have in mind to use.

Customers didn't get that, and instead had a hold on their money for reasons and means BEYOND receiving the particular commodity that they offered their money for. Forget the pro-regulation and antitrust crowds being discussed in this comment section, you'd be hard-pressed to find even a Laissez-Faire economically-right individual that sleeps well to that notion.

HaZeust··on Today, we hacked what we'd set out to hack: the iPhone
I think they wouldn't have cracked down on it so much if there wasn't in-app purchase crackers (IAPCracker, IAPFree) that directly threatened their revenue bottom-line, and forced developers to deal with in-app piracy.

I think, if a deal was struck with Saurik/Cydia Team and Apple to explicitly not do that, there was a much better chance the jailbreaking community would have held.

I'm not seeing this.

"Up arrow, Up arrow, Down arrow, Down arrow, Left arrow, Right arrow, Left arrow, Right arrow, 'b', 'a'", inside or outside of the input field, does nothing.

Confirmation bias of what? Project 2025 and the Heritage Foundation's effort as a think-tank is pretty much a baby-stepped blueprint.
HaZeust··on When did Google get so weird?
Christ, thank you! I’ve been saying this for years and no one I’ve spoken to, even engineers, could acknowledge the level of “chunking” that’s been engrained in them over the years for turning inquiries into keyword/phrase shorthand, and that this is NOT something most people want to do, and is the killer app of Google AI. This time around, you CAN type in an input box what you would say to a human in everyday conversation, AND expect a reasonable response. That’s invaluable to a casual user.

Cheers. Take it to heart heavier.

You're also writing erratically in the blog since I've logged back in, and it looks like you're admist a manic episode. You'll vehemently deny so - no fault of your own, that's a core tenet of a manic episode in the first place. But I have close experience with it from those close to me, and more than anything - I suggest you take care. Don't be hard on yourself during the post-reflection and introspection period, doing so is often far more debilitating than the episode itself. Be well.

You'd do well to listen to the song Vienna a few times, lol.

Intellect and prestige will only get you so far; but being an egotistical, passive-aggressive antagonist will stunt your development professionally and personally. Quoting egotistical tech titans doesn't justify it, and using cutesy internet-speak cadence doesn't mask it.

Just my $0.02.

>"Consider a user in the Apple ecosystem"

Already you're off-base. Of course it works when your devices are homogenized, but very little folks work that way. Some people have a Windows computer using Brave, an iPhone using Safari, an Android device using Chrome, and a work computer with its own hardware/software limitations and partitions.

Of course it works when your ecosystems are not diversified. Problem is, most people are.

HaZeust··on New US homeownership measure puts people first
>"On top of it, we experienced UBI-lite during pandemic, and saw the inflationary result."

I sympathize with this take because it's the one I had, until I saw the data. On top of genuinely appealing to the fact it wasn't perfect UBI - which doesn't make it an invalid take just because you pre-emptively pointed it out - our inflation during COVID-era relief was overwhelmingly from abuse of PPP loan applications and payouts, disaster relief funds - and a healthy chunk to the federal subsidizing of state/local governments [1]:

"Congress has obligated approximately $5 trillion in response to the COVID pandemic although significant portions of this money remain unspent. For reference, in fiscal 2020, the total state spending for all 50 states was $2.28 trillion, or less than half of the pandemic relief spending. Of the obligated relief funds, approximately $1.8 trillion went to individuals and families through $844 billion in stimulus check payments and $666 billion in enhanced unemployment compensation.

Additionally, businesses received approximately $1.7 trillion, much of which came from the $835 billion Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and $349 billion Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) Program. State and local governments received $745 billion, the health care industry received approximately $482 billion, and other remaining industries received approximately $288 billion."

To add, there's also the case that one of the industries most hurt from COVID, which was automobile sales, was impacted by the stimulus checks - but by less than 20% [2]:

"Despite this substantial demand response, fiscal transfers account for less than 20% of the surge in auto prices"

HaZeust··on New US homeownership measure puts people first
I've always wondered if UBI can replace the category of "viable asset class" that homes are now, wherein UBI offers upward mobility now AND generational wealthy in the future - the same way owning a house does. Wouldn't that be a valid populist play, an actual policy rooted in pragmatic, and all-around a winning strategy?

HaZeust··on SpaceX wants to launch 100k more Starlink satellites for 100x the bandwidth
Can you source a citation referring to people that had "no proper grounding in multi day off road adventuring", and were thus "encouraged" to " go and die through lack of prior experience and skills" via Starlink?

Whether you like it or not, Starlink being an easily-accesible internet service has likely saved dozens of noobs from certain death by offering emergency eSIM services, GPS navigation, or communciation systems that they wouldn't otherwise have. Can I prove it objectively? Likely not (outside of forum anecdotes), but I wasn't the first to make a claim with the burden to do so.

HaZeust··on How Fear and Social Pressure Are 'Overarming' the U.S.
The world first becomes civilized when groups and bodies of people have tensioned, proportional leverage against one another - lest there's low incentive for the naturally more leveraging group to engage in virtuous action. Of course, we see it time and time again where both governments AND people use the leverages vested upon them in functionally incorrect or anti-social ways, but it is the closest to an equilibrium between two perpetually-unwieldy groups (governments, the governed)

In a nutshell, the tension of existential leverage that the government has on you through their monopoly on violence is thereby "equally" leveraged by your right to own firearms - and the implicit extralegal right to use it against them - in an unjust event. And a government SHOULD be perpetually worried for when you'd eventually consider something "unjust" enough for you to exercise that right - as it creates a chilling effect for them to even attempt it.

HaZeust··on How Fear and Social Pressure Are 'Overarming' the U.S.
>"Is this theory working in the US?"

Yes. It's the country with the most gun ownership metrics from almost every dataset, and there's not nearly as much gun violence as you'd THINK despite that.
