Above graph is only about Bitcoin, people have made a shit ton more on Alt..

HackyGeeky··on Ask HN: What do you use to take notes?
One Note : I'm an "avoid mouse" person & one note is the only application that provides all the features. Plus sharing is a breeze - especially in a company.
HackyGeeky··on LogMeIn acquires Lastpass
Congrats to LastPass team for a successful exit :)

I understand why the users might have concerns with "LogMeIn", but well one should've expected (at least on this forum) that this is going to happen.

I know this isn't the most popular comment. But, what the heck, be happy for the LastPass team, they've worked their ass off. That's what this forum is for, isn't it ? We(hackers) are all in the same boat.

HackyGeeky··on Python's Web Framework Benchmarks
sad to see no web2py here :|
HackyGeeky··on Google's XSS game
As "sbd" said, the "html +=" statement is using the "num" parameter as it is.

The real problem is the substring(1) function which passes the "num", instead of making sure the length is 1 it is allowing everything.

HackyGeeky··on How to Create a Bestselling Novel (2000)
Great !!! Great collection. English isn't my mother tongue, hence this helps me for sure.
HackyGeeky··on Richard Lynch, an awesome PHP community guy and former colleague needs our help
True - I missed the donation button the right on the first pass as well. Sent. Take care bud..
HackyGeeky··on Ask HN: Alternatives to Evernote?
I'm hooked to OneNote, started using it a year back. From what I've seen it's extremely intuitive. Creating a table is a breeze and so is the indenting.
HackyGeeky··on Ask HN: Those making $1,000+/month on side projects - what did you make?
This is interesting, just requested a book I'd like.
HackyGeeky··on Ask HN: What Podcasts Do You Listen To?
These are the one's I listen regularly to.

1.) Manager-tools - For management. No fluff and actionable info. 2.) Stanford Entrepreneurship thought leaders - For Startups 3.) 99% invisible - For design 4.) Ted Talks - For knowing brilliant people 5.) Security Now - IT Security

HackyGeeky··on Forgotten Employee (2002)
!!! This person can change his life ! He could learn something from scratch & become a master at it given the spare time he has.

I think he lacks the motivation and doesn't have a good friend circle..

Sad to see that someone with so much potential is now slowly withering away..

Not too late ! Rather - never too late.

HackyGeeky··on An Open Letter to Craig Newmark
hmm.. so this guy - Craig - works his ass off all these years and builds a site that makes him money. HIS hard work paying HIM money. Now someone else comes along and wants to build a site that has the potential to hurt Craig's work..

Wonder why Craig doesn't like it..

Before pointing a finger at Craig, how about you build something from grounds up, get to Craig's level and then allow anyone else to just take stuff away from you, piece by piece.

He is still providing value to people by letting people post and use it. Of-course he is making money, but anything worth charging will be charged.

He is just as passionate about his site and what he has built as you are. Maybe he just doesn't want you to build a building on his island. So be it, there is a whole world out there waiting for you.

Bottom line : Stop wasting time, build something else. You are smart enough to work on a completely unique idea of your own. Why spend your energy on sipping from someone else's ocean when you have an ocean inside you.

LOL. Couldn't stop laughing after reading this.
HackyGeeky··on Older Is Wiser: Study Shows Software Developers’ Skills Improve Over Time
LOL, yes that's what I said too. This should be the case in any industry.
HackyGeeky··on Older Is Wiser: Study Shows Software Developers’ Skills Improve Over Time
Shouldn't this be true for any industry ?
HackyGeeky··on Ask HN: What skills $100/hour - $200k/year

Thanks gte910h - What entails "embedded work in general" ? Can you be a bit specific ?
HackyGeeky··on How To Land a Job at Google
Great advise, unique perspective. Gives me an idea for interview questions as well. Thanks.
HackyGeeky··on Stuff I've learned at Microsoft
I agree with these - 1.) Lone wolf syndrome 2.) Look for the line at your door Have experienced these - 1.) Ask for forgiveness, not for permission 2.) (Most) Screw ups are OK Couldn't agree more - 1.) Code is king 2.) Don’t be an asshole

I see your point, on the below, but kinda disagree - 1.) New team? Pick people over products - Would be difficult for me to be passionate about something if I don't like what I'm working on. And product would most likely bring out the passion. If the people in that team are not what I'd like, well, so what, dive in, lets see if it can be cleaned on the way.

HackyGeeky··on Ask HN: Why is Everyone Leaving Google?
Soon there will be another facebook and we will have "Why people are leaving "NEW-Facebook". The point is attrition rate gets higher as the company matures, because they are hiring at a higher rate. Its no "fault" of any company. There will definitely be cases where a company screws up and doesn't treat the employees right, but I highly doubt Google is that kind of company.
HackyGeeky··on Digg brings back the bury button
I wonder if its too late.. It might have driven away a lot of good people. I see digg going down in popularity -

HackyGeeky··on Ask HN: Why Don't HN stories open up in a new tab?
Use middle-click. Many users don't like things opening in new windows.
HackyGeeky··on [dead]
From what I've seen in the last 6 months, a lame submission just gets quickly overlooked and lost in the new ones that are coming. Now there might be good ones which roll of the page due to the flood of submissions, but many HN users RSS and read them anyways. Hence it seems to be working.

But I agree, more fluff coming in.

HackyGeeky··on Ask HN: Searching for jobs sucks.
That is the most unique way of finding jobs I've seen in a long time.

HackyGeeky··on Ask HN: When you have production issues, what chat application do you use?
No access from office, have stored for reading later. I also found some great XMPP/jabber bases services I'm going to explore.
