Hrundi··on Chicken products recalled in five states due to “false marks of inspection”
13 tons out of the expected 100k didn't get reinspected due to an administrative error with the importing company. You'll be fine, enjoy the quality meat.
Hrundi··on How to embrace asynchronous communication for remote work
A properly worded slack message is indistinguishable from an email, and can pretty much be treated as such
Hrundi··on JetBrains' unremovable AI assistant meets irresistible outcry
> The "AI" service consumes real resources

My disk space is a real resource as well

Hrundi··on Thanksgiving 2023 security incident
I don't remember any companies that ended thanks to cloudbleed, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong
Hrundi··on Build your own BitTorrent
This links to the product's application, the main website clears things up: https://codecrafters.io/
Hrundi··on MS-DOS v1.25 and v2.0 is now open-source (2014)
6.22's source code was readily shared by some russians back in 2002 or so, and it was the real deal
Hrundi··on ChatGPT Enterprise
It can, until the extension developer receives a tempting offer for it, as has happened countless times
Hrundi··on NativePHP: A framework for building desktop apps using PHP
Many people enjoy working with it, it's perfectly fine for almost everything and it's fast enough? I mean, why not?

Other apps bundle entire runtimes for other languages, I don't see how PHP would be any different

Hrundi··on Show HN: Hacker News user blogroll
Analysis paralysis is very cruel. Many of my side projects died because of this, or just got stuck in development hell, even while interest was high.

Looking back, some would have made good money if I had just released them

Hrundi··on Protect your privacy and your phone number with Firefox Relay
Google Voice is US & Canada only, I believe.
Hrundi··on Google Search Results Plagued with spam “.it” domains
The fact that this has been going on for several years makes me believe Google either doesn't care or the problem is particularly hard to fix (less believable)
Hrundi··on AS13335 doing SSH scanning
Who's trying to dox those users?
Hrundi··on Valve Steam Deck
Those are terrible prices.
Hrundi··on Rethinking Triplebyte
You'd be surprised
Hrundi··on Ask HN: What are some “10x” software product innovations you have experienced?
I managed to snag my (very common) italian last name. I get a flood of messages every day. I both love and hate my account.

I don't even speak italian!

Hrundi··on Biography of Christopher “moot” Poole: The Hacker Known as “4chan”
Sleep sort came out of 4chan.

Hrundi··on Ask HN: Which abandoned proprietary software would you resurrect?
Not only this is not recent, it has nothing to do with politics or ideology, at all.

No-go zones have been used all over the world for decades.

Hrundi··on Ask HN: Is any of Dave Cutler's code open source?
Quick warning to people wanting to take a look: This code is part of a famous code leak that happened 12 years ago, in which large portions (a 200mb rar file) of the Windows NT/2000 source code found its way to the internet thanks to a company named Mainsoft being hacked. You'll notice that there's a bunch of .eml files.

There's actual kernel code in here, reading this code could most likely prevent from working on WINE or ReactOS and who knows what else could apply under your jurisdiction.

It's funny that his code is right there for us to see, but we shouldn't see it!

Hrundi··on Godot game engine reaches 2.0
Looks like it is going to happen next.

From the post:

> Godot community keeps growing and users keep producing more assets, scripts, modules, etc. we are in need of an unified platform for sharing them. As such, we will be working towards having an asset sharing platform (website + REST API + Godot integration) for 2.1. The built-in platform will be free (it will be integrated with GitHub), but we will make sure that the REST API is well defined so anyone can make a commercial asset sharing platform and integrate it with Godot.

Hrundi··on Ask HN: Freelancer? Seeking freelancer? (October 2014)
SEEKING WORK - Argentina

My name is Victor, a 31 year old developer living in Argentina.

I'm a generalist developer and has been for over 13+ years now, officially (career-wise) working as a frontend and backend developer with PHP, MySQL, HTML, JS, etc.

Unofficially, but decent: Android apps (native and web based), C#, Python, PostgreSQL, GIS and a bit of 3D development (Unity and WebGL). I also enjoy setting up and managing servers.

My timezone is beautifully aligned with most of the US and my starting rates would make patio11 cringe.

I'm looking for small gigs at the moment. I can whip up small prototypes and MVP's and I can do quick experiments with ease.

You may contact me at ar_freelancer AT yahoo.com

Thanks for the opportunity!

Hrundi··on MIT Students Battle State's Demand for Their Bitcoin Miner's Source Code
> The state’s attorney general claims Rubin and his classmates violated New Jersey computer crime laws and demanded they hand over source code for their creation and any documentation related to the tool.
Hrundi··on Show HN: Automatically convert a website to Android and iOS
The only reason you are being bitten by those two points is because the developer is being lazy and neglectful of user experience.

Making those two issues dissappear takes about 6 hours of developer time.

Hrundi··on Ask HN: Who wants to be hired? (June 2014)
Buenos Aires, Argentina. Looking to freelance with clients all over the world, or an on-site job in the city.

Stack: I'm a generalist developer for over 13+ years, officially (career-wise) working as a frontend and backend developer with PHP, MySQL, HTML, Javascript. Unofficially but decent: C#, Python, PostgreSQL, Android, GIS and a bit of 3D development (Unity and WebGL). I also enjoy setting up and manage servers.

Resume: Upon request. Previous employers include my country's government, a large mobile gaming company, high-traffic websites and credit report providers with reasonably large databases.

Contact: ar_freelancer@yahoo.com

My timezone is beautifully aligned with most of the US and I'm offering attractive rates that would make patio11 cringe. They start from $15/h for HN'ers, depending on commitment.

Thanks!

Microsoft provides free* virtual machines, each with a specific version of IE. Not quite the same thing though, but they are actually pretty cool.

* not sure if an enterprise can use them though.

Hrundi··on Airpnp: Like Airbnb, but for toilets
A starbucks in Madrid has a scanner that validates your purchase ticket in order to access the bathroom.

Lucky for me, the door was half open already.

Hrundi··on Ask HN: Freelancer? Seeking freelancer? (November 2013)
I'd love to give it a shot, how may I contact you?
Hrundi··on Half-Life 3 on Steam: Available Fall 2013
The magic of font kerning. Or keming.
Hrundi··on Is Google using depressing CSS with IE?
This comes from a company that puts #FFF7ED as a background color on the SERP ads so that people with flat screens will not see it from certain angles and believe they are search results.

They most certainly possess the capability of doing a lot of A/B testing due to their immense volume, but I wouldn't go as far as to call it an attempt to psychologically manipulate people.

Hrundi··on Show HN: ICEcoder v3.0 released (browser code editor)
Really cool project! I always wanted this but never got around to actually develop anything or find a good match.

I must say I'm a bit conflicted about the interface of the demo, I feel some of these icons are really old. Not a big issue though.

I'd be glad to test it out and send you some feedback or a pull request.

Hrundi··on Goodbye Google Analytics. Hello Piwik
I just want to mention that Cron archiving really does wonders for performance.

I've got a site that is receiving nearly 10,000 daily uniques since Google's last [panda|penguin|whatever] update in May, and while Piwik's performance was not terrible, setting up the cron a few weeks ago made the whole experience very snappy.

Thank you for your work halfdan!
