HtmlProgrammer··on How Europe is killing makers and micro-entrepreneurs
This will directly stop Irish based people shopping on Amazon as the Irish Amazon is useless and everyone buys from Amazon UK. These fees are going to change that big time so it’s not all in favor of Amazon
HtmlProgrammer··on The Sloppification of Peptides
“stay strapped” is a fantastic sign off.
HtmlProgrammer··on The other Sean Byrne doesn't exist
I assure you there are several Sean Byrnes in Sligo, and at least one in Drumcliff
HtmlProgrammer··on Oxide Computer raises $445M (SEC Form D)
perhaps they like their work
HtmlProgrammer··on Show HN: I'm a 15 Year Old Wannabe Engineer, This Is a Cycloidal Gearbox I Built
I feel the age here helps I’ve context for the feedback. like you aren’t going to recommend they go get a 5k worth piece of machinery or say this is absolutely amateur and is a simple concept and doesn’t deserve discussion
HtmlProgrammer··on Czechia moves to ban mobile phones in schools from September 2027
We were told no phones in schools. I used my phone. They confiscated it for 2 weeks. I was like yeah fair enough.

I don’t understand why this isn’t done now?

HtmlProgrammer··on Gleam Is Now on Tangled
Flink has acquired Cajoo
HtmlProgrammer··on Irish datacenters now guzzle 23% of the country's electricity
Actually as of July 1st it is now 38 cents. This is very much the norm

HtmlProgrammer··on Irish datacenters now guzzle 23% of the country's electricity
My electricity costs 34 cent per Kw/h and I can’t afford solar panels or a renovation to air to water heating while the government insists we shouldn’t use oil / coal anymore nor logs or turf to heat our homes

edit: I live in Ireland

HtmlProgrammer··on A World of First Drafts
I too have grown weary
HtmlProgrammer··on Salesforce to Acquire Fin (formerly Intercom) for $3.6B
Solving 80% of menial support tickets automatically through agents trained on your help center, freeing up your actual support agents to focus better on meaningful tasks seems a tiny bit more than a grift.

I’m not sure where you’re getting this from but their customers find Fin to be a hugely impactful tool

HtmlProgrammer··on PwC Report: AI Making Medical Bills Higher
Just wait until we deploy the AI to optimise healthcare so that people die right at retirement age to maximise tax extraction and minimise healthcare usage
HtmlProgrammer··on The Cognitive Dark Forest
> meat doesn’t scale

great oneliner

HtmlProgrammer··on Sky Wins Irish Court Order to Unmask 300 Pirate IPTV Users via Revolut Bank
People refer to them as “dodgy boxes”. They know it’s illegal and no one cares.

Everyone in the country knows this and either has one or a family member has one

HtmlProgrammer··on White House alters arrest photo of ICE protester, says "the memes will continue"
This is very upsetting to see.

I am more and more concerned for my American based friends by the day

HtmlProgrammer··on Which programming languages are most token-efficient?
> I then told Claude Code to suggest a selection of the most popular programming languages

If you’re going to write an article atleast do the base research yourself man

HtmlProgrammer··on I wasted years of my life in crypto
I think the key difference is the inability to be (easily) deplatformed / locked out which can happen in traditional banking
HtmlProgrammer··on The Free Software Foundation Europe deleted its account on X
We want X to exist to contain these people.

The same situation applies to League of Legends and their wonderfully toxic player base

HtmlProgrammer··on The Free Software Foundation Europe deleted its account on X
There are plenty of people who love FOSS and terminally on X. Yes they are crazy, paranoid and racist but thats cutting off one of your key markets lol
HtmlProgrammer··on I hacked Monster Energy
This feels a bit over the line from disclosure to sharing corporate documents… feels a lil bit crimey
HtmlProgrammer··on User reports metallic taste in mouth when using laptop
Just posted a comment saying the exact same myself lmao
HtmlProgrammer··on User reports metallic taste in mouth when using laptop
My M2 pro tries to ground itself through my arm on occasion when using it while it is charging so I wouldn’t put it passed apple
HtmlProgrammer··on My streaming fatigue got so bad I started collecting DVDs
All businesses wanting recurring revenue now is a shame, subscription fatigue is definitely setting in and slowly draining my wallet.

With my “adult” schedule, I find now that I often don’t even watch more than 2 or 3 movies in the month, for which I could easily just purchase a “forever” physical copy second hand.

My concern is now for the video games industry where if we go all digital, we will be locked into these services with no option to only buy that one game you player for a one off fee.

HtmlProgrammer··on Avast ordered to stop selling browsing data from its browsing privacy apps
To think I used to recommend Avast to people over paying for Norton or Mcafee (RIP)
HtmlProgrammer··on Endgame: A dashboard exploit for the original Xbox
6
HtmlProgrammer··on OpenFPGA
I’m not even a real person so good luck catching me
HtmlProgrammer··on Magika: AI powered fast and efficient file type identification
Minecraft mods 14 years ago used to tell you to open the JAR and delete the META-INF when installing them so can’t rely on that one…
HtmlProgrammer··on OpenFPGA
I purchased the Analogue Pocket and it’s a great little device. Got an archive of all GB and GBC games and can play them off an SD card using some of the FPGA cores available. while expensive, it’s great to have that tactile feel just like an original gameboy with modern quality of life features
HtmlProgrammer··on This page knows your battery charge level (unless you're using Firefox)
While I admire your dedication to privacy by disabling JavaScript, personally I’ve gone crazy and given up due to all the people around me in my life forcing me to live in a privacy nightmare
HtmlProgrammer··on The feds' vehicle 'kill switch' mandate is a gross violation of privacy
This already exists and has stopped people I know personally from driving like idiots.
