JayXon··on Xmas.c (1988)
The leaderboard is public but the actual code is private, that hello world is just an example c program.
JayXon··on Xmas.c (1988)
The current world record for the shortest C program that prints 12 Days of Christmas lyrics is 431 bytes: https://code.golf/12-days-of-christmas#c
JayXon··on Google Imagen 2
The prompt is a quote from a book, and it mentions "opened his beak and sang a loud, lovely trill", and the Imagen 2 robin does exactly that, but both SD ignored it completely, and SD1.5 isn't even on top of the wall.
JayXon··on Expanding Fuchsia's open source model
generate_204 is used to check if a network has internet connection or need to login at captive portal, not sure about Fuchsia but on Android if you don't want to use google server for that, you can disable the feature or change it to use a different url https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/186993/captive-p...

Apple and Microsoft both have something similar but with their own website, and AFAIK there's no way to change the url on iOS.

JayXon··on Google search takes 7 seconds on certain queries

> Powered by is a footprint that black hats/hackers and spammers use to find targets.

So maybe Google isn't being slow, it's just sleeping intentionally to avoid abuse?

JayXon··on China is blocking all language editions of Wikipedia
I think they were talking about wikimedia.org also being blocked due to CNAME to wikipedia.org which is now blocked, and they fixed it by CNAME to dyna.wikimedia.org instead, but wikipedia.org is still blocked: https://en.greatfire.org/https/en.wikipedia.org
JayXon··on Global, U.S. Growth in Smartphone Growth Starts to Decline
If you care about camera so much, especially in low-light, you probably want to upgrade to a Pixel, the night sight feature is like magic.
JayXon··on JPEG image of Shakespeare which is also a zip file containing his complete works

JayXon··on iPhones are hard to use
> This article reminds me of the time when the iOS alarm clock app had a bug that caused the alarm to go off one hour later on some random Sunday and it made headlines in all the tech press.

Android alarm going off one hour earlier in Brazil also got some press attention today. https://androidcommunity.com/brazils-dst-change-inadvertentl...

JayXon··on iPhone crashing bug likely caused by code added to appease Chinese government
I meant that because iMessage fallback to SMS and you don't know if sending an iMessage to someone will go through iMessage or SMS which might cost you money, that's why nobody uses iMessage.

iMessage isn't iCloud, but iMessages are stored in iCloud, Apple also stores iCloud encryption keys in China. See https://techcrunch.com/2018/02/25/apple-moves-icloud-encrypt...

JayXon··on iPhone crashing bug likely caused by code added to appease Chinese government
Nobody uses iMessage in China because SMS is expensive. iCloud data in China is stored in a datacenter in China where the Chinese government can access any data any time they want with no warrant whatsoever.
JayXon··on Windows Is Bloated, Thanks to Adobe’s Extensible Metadata Platform
shameless plug: you can throw a windows pe file (exe, dll, etc.) at leanify and it will remove all the garbage in pngs in that pe file (even those embedded pngs in high res ico file in pe file), and it will also optimize png compression with zopfli. But don't use it on windows system files because modifying those pe files will definitely break the digital signature.
JayXon··on Chess: Who will win in this riveting game of Math.random() vs. Math.random()?
It's impossible, I watched it for several minutes, then it stopped moving, not sure why.
JayXon··on Show HN: Compare different JS minifiers’ output online
Very nice, could you display the best output result? So that we don't need to compress again ourselves.
JayXon··on Show HN: Lightweight lossless file minifier/optimizer
Nevermind, just realised you are talking about that TV show Silicon Valley.
JayXon··on Show HN: Lightweight lossless file minifier/optimizer
This is not a new format, the result is still the same format as before.

If there were any benchmarks, they should compare this to other minifier/optimizer, not other format.

JayXon··on Show HN: Lightweight lossless file minifier/optimizer
It doesn't support any video files, at least for now.

Thanks for being the first one to comment. I understand EXIF is important to photographers.

The initial goal of this tool is to reduce software release size. Most of the formats it supported for now are likely to be part of a software. Software don't need comments, only human needs them.

Maybe I'll add an option to keep EXIF and comments later.
