how do you enforce the 8 max requests? :-D
KellyCriterion··on Oldest GUI application that still runs on Windows 11
But with Web 2.0 we got rounded corners for popups etc.
KellyCriterion··on How to grow a cacao tree at home (2024)
Ive heard of this method over here in Europe some years ago, though do not know if these process gained any traction regarding regular bought food brands?
KellyCriterion··on The Mythical Man-Month in the Age of AI
The thing is, AI is generating sooo fast so many outputs, its hard to review and evaluate all of them: Very often I encounter in design/architecture questions a situation where the model suggests 2 - 3 alternatives approaches, then asking a little bit and there you are with 30+ pages of content etc.
KellyCriterion··on Anthropic S-1
...exactly this were my thoughts when reading the response:

Maybe Apple is just waiting on the line until someone can be sucked up at a penny if the house is on fire - and pretty sure, this will happen. Not in 2027, but I expect MA activites & consoliation before 2030

Im developing at home a fairly large data app on a 4x3GHz Athlon with 16GB RAM and a SSD disk with VS.NET + full Microsoft backend tooling.

The machine was bought in 2011 and it runs Windows Server.

I can do whatever I need with the device, apart from Gaming. Even YT works in 4k.

So, tell me now please why my 15 year old computer is not useful here?

KellyCriterion··on No Signs of AI Payoff Outside the Tech Sector
...and global usage/reach was practically zero...
KellyCriterion··on Ask HN: If the models are so good, why doesn't OpenAI just start 100 companies?
ClaudeOS - thats actually a very good idea! I have not thought that far yet, they could easily build a good one as a lot of Apple employees are inserting their thoughts for free into Claude :-)
KellyCriterion··on Ask HN: If the models are so good, why doesn't OpenAI just start 100 companies?
How have these two been killed by AI?
KellyCriterion··on Local Wikipedia: Wikipedia, but only for things a half hour walk from you
It works great, cool project!

I discovered something rightout near me that I wasnt aware of!:)

Yeah, according to the downvote-count, I guess you are right :-D
KellyCriterion··on Anthropic disclosed an $80.7B net loss for the first half of 2026
THe thing is, Copilot is by far not as good as Claude (-:
KellyCriterion··on 'I've applied for 300 jobs. My 25 years' experience is worthless'
Ive lately experienced that asking for 100% office onsite time is rising eye brows with many people: I hate remote work since Covid, I want an office, leave my appartment, meet colleagues.

But it looks like Im by far the minority, if I remember recent discussions?

> approaching 50% voters above age of 50).

IIRC,this is already true for some?

KellyCriterion··on The 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement is no longer viable
Mh, while Ive met a lot of these guys by coincidence over the last 20 years, Ive never heard of one claiming that "migration is cause for climate change"
KellyCriterion··on The 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement is no longer viable
True! Maybe its just a slowdown or the first clear signs of incoming collapse of these ressources? Though, domestic land is already accelerating again over the last year, so it will be on par again with its previous high.

And this ensemble is only a collection of some KPI, there are additional ones I guess which will show similar upwards-trend.

If you would start to re-rollout nuclear, Uranium will be consumed within 10-20 years by all participants. In most countries, nuclear supplied usually a small but stable fragment of the overall energysupply.
KellyCriterion··on Anthropic disclosed an $80.7B net loss for the first half of 2026
Companies are building entire internal workflows on Claude & its tooling. One day, these companies will be superdependent on Anthropic, then they can call whatever price they want (until a theoretical maximum)
KellyCriterion··on The 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement is no longer viable
do you know of any politician in charge who is doing anything/whatever-at-least-one-thing right?
KellyCriterion··on Anthropic recorded a staggering $80B net loss in the first half of 2026
OT: Is this the official Polymarket account? :-D

So they are attracting people who want to bet on losses & profits of companies before IPO? How could society get here? :-D

KellyCriterion··on Computer Chips Are the Most Magnificent Things Humanity Has Ever Made
Impressive video, thanks for sharing

In the long run, there will be two AI winners:

- Google will win the retail/free AI space and they can afford to offer Gemini for free for ever

- Anthropic will win Enterprise AI, but at very high costs and based on the dependency of their customers onto them, after the trap snaps: I expect a Claude seat for 1000+/month

2 degree global warming means 5-6 degree more in new york (as the average mean temperature is meassured also above oceans/mountaints etc.) - and you can now ask yourself if you still want to live in NY when its 5-6 degree warmer than today?

The paradigm was:

Renewables will be that fast in roll-out and much cheaper and then other countries will follow the path.

(which is funny, since China installed more solar in 2024/2025 than US+EU combined - so for them its working, in the beginning they were adptors, now they became shapers; same for africa: now a real option to get cheap energy, the only region where solar is more expensive than it should be, is actually EU + US)

KellyCriterion··on The 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement is no longer viable
Nuclear is not an option, esp most countries with nuclear do import their uranium primarily from one country...
KellyCriterion··on The 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement is no longer viable
with fusion you would have enough energy to do it?

I highly recommend this graphic to everyone:

https://globaia.org/_astro/GA_1750-2024_DARK2.CKx3duw8_ZQd9m...

It lists 24 socio-ecological KPI across the planet since industrialisation beginning - as you can see:

There is not a single KPI where the curve shows even the slightest sign of recovery - and you can expect other graphs of adjacent KPI to show similar development.

In one sentence: There is no chance that humanity will ever come back to any pre-industry levels within the next 500 years. And by overusing our environment, our civilisation wont last 500 years. (sure, some hotspots will survive, but they wont have ASML Twin:Exe machines or cheap flight travel anymore etc.)
