Kiro··on Ask HN: If the models are so good, why doesn't OpenAI just start 100 companies?
Go to Show HN and a few years back and you will see that most products fail. It has never been about the software unless you're creating something truly novel. Good luck letting an LLM manage the sales pipeline and keeping that first big customer that your whole company relies on happy. Even if it could do it, that customer will demand full personal attention.
Kiro··on AI was great until it was not
I was mainly referring to comments on Hacker News.
Kiro··on AI was great until it was not
I'm surprised by this sudden "I love interacting with humans" surge. It's not something I associate with hackers.
Kiro··on Why is every rationalist blog post way too long?
I'm the opposite and even your example triggered my curiosity. Very few articles capture me like that.
Kiro··on Where is all the new, good software?
Dealing with third-party overlays (I presume that's the main menu bug you're talking about) is one of the most annoying things in game development due to how it hooks into the rendering pipeline and not an easy fix.
Kiro··on GLM-Legal
In countries with modern laws and open records you seldom need a lawyer. I've dealt with many legal issues requiring preliminary decisions and the lawyers added absolutely nothing I didn't already know by simply reading the law.
Kiro··on Attack of the Vibe Coded Photoshop Clones
The person is literally that meme. Quotes from their other posts:

> They are pretending to be angry at big companies because they think it will make them look heroic and noble.

> So when the angry mobs online tell us that we must irrationally hate a race, nation, party or corporation - well I am not joining that movement.

Kiro··on Attack of the Vibe Coded Photoshop Clones
I think it's a sign that their reality distortion field is starting to break down and their coping mechanism is to resort to more and more aggressive personal attacks and slander.
Kiro··on Attack of the Vibe Coded Photoshop Clones
> especially when those two guys are hunting for underage children to speak to on Discord (yes, I have seen what vibe coders do)

Come on. Is this really necessary?

Kiro··on Artificial Insanity
Funny how these articles always use the same aggressive language and bombastic style, to the point where they are more similar than the output of said "sterilized parrot regurgitation".
Kiro··on I paid people to try and follow my README
It was popular before LLMs. Probably popularized by Notion.
Kiro··on Vibe coded browser ports of Halo, The Simpsons: Hit And Run, GTA work well
If the decomp scene is about the art of decompiling I would agree, but looking at r/decomps it seems the audience is gamers who just want to play the games. Do they also think it's terrible? Considering how anti Kotaku is it sounds like they are actually working well.
Kiro··on There's little that's "inevitable" about AI
> commenters are some combination of bots and underpaid astroturfers

Always these baseless accusations. I've been here almost as long as you have and find it extremely offensive, just because I'm rebuking a flawed argument with basic facts. There's no conspiracy and you're breaking the HN rules by insinuating it.

Kiro··on LLMs Aren't Inevitable
Oops, fixed but I think you're onto something!
Kiro··on LLMs Aren't Inevitable
I keep seeing it and it's really bipolar. Boosters think it's the best thing ever and downplays all the issues while antis think it's completely useless and a disaster environmentally and morally.

Good luck saying LLMs are useful but still a net negative in the filter bubble this author is in. No, you also need to think it has zero utility or you're the enemy.

Kiro··on There's little that's "inevitable" about AI
We need to start talking about anti-AI psychosis. That people actually think their delusions fueled by these echo chambers are real is almost as worrying as the AI booster bubbles.
Kiro··on There's little that's "inevitable" about AI
The fact that the author is using PowerBI as the example makes me think they are completely oblivious of the actual impact and utility LLMs have in other fields such as programming. Claiming it's useless and that anything it outputs is "markedly inferior to that of a human doing the same task" is an absurd basis to use for their argument.
Kiro··on OpenAI fires three safety researchers for "mishandling research information"
You're derailing it by handwaving away the risk of rogue AIs. In fact, I would say the constant smirking about things being marketing stunts much worse.
Kiro··on Reasons to Dislike AI Coding
Whether or not LLMs are deterministic is irrelevant to this discussion. It doesn't make what the parent poster say less true.
Kiro··on Reasons to Dislike AI Coding
I don't think your example is any better or more common. You're the first person I've heard who does math on paper to stay sharp.
Kiro··on Livenerf: Has Opus 5.5 been nerfed yet?
Dishonest representation. The links provided do not show this at all, but very clearly that it has been isolated incidents that people extrapolate into false evidence.
Kiro··on Livenerf: Has Opus 5.5 been nerfed yet?
Where is the evidence? HN is no better than the "I've done my own research" on Facebook.
Kiro··on Unsealed Briefs in Authors’ Case v. Microsoft/OpenAI
Sad to see hackers become copyright zealots.
Kiro··on Plan mode is dead
Doesn't matter and it has changed. To most devs vibe coding is when you let AI write your code.
Kiro··on How to keep enjoying programming in a world of LLMs
Yeah, I've come to this realization as well. It's like the inverse of that classic interruption comic. The waiting makes me lose the context.
Kiro··on Plan mode is dead
Coding with plan mode is still vibe coding. No-one outside HN calls it things like "agentic engineering" or whatever. Everyone just says they are vibe coding regardless of how hands on they are.
Kiro··on One Month Without AI
While I've definitely experienced it I don't think this is as much of a problem anymore. It's very easy to add an instruction to projects where you want every error to lead to a top-level throw rather than be handled. I also find that when it does try to mitigate it does so gracefully with a path you would actually make if you had infinite time, but your instinct tells you it's overkill.
Kiro··on One Month Without AI
> included guards for tons of edge cases that weren’t possible

It's not possible until it is. This is the justification lazy developers like we all are have been using leading to bugs down the road. This glorification of hand-made code is strange, like we weren't writing dirty code full of shortcuts and hacks all the time.

Kiro··on One Month Without AI
I trust a modern model implementing a standard feature like this much more than 99% of the people I've worked with.

People bash LLMs for overengineering but for this it's what you want. Taking extreme edge-cases into account that a human would never bother with and obsessing over security.

Kiro··on Enjoy Every Sandwich
What cultures are you referring to? Mayonnaise and mustard are staples in for example French cuisine, which many consider to be the best food in the world.
