Wtf?
I'm not from the US, so please bear with me, but does this mean that, if I were to study there, I wouldn't be able to enter the campus without being tracked by a private company?

Then they dumbed down the phone app and soon enough they did a similar thing with the website. Tips & Notes section was gone (or they kept it but removed a lot of information? can't remember), the tree-style courses were gone and replaced with some kind of a Path, the exercises became too easy and they'd make you translate from Spanish to English most of the time, which is much easier than the other way around. Then they removed the ability to type with your keyboard, added the "match the word pairs" exercise (which sucks if you use a keyboard and yes, I know you can try to use the numbers on your keyboard), all of which made the whole experience even worse and less effective.
I lost my streak somewhere in the middle of this enshittification process and I've never really gotten back to using the site, other than maybe checking once a year whether it's still shitty (and it always is).
In my opinion, back in 2014 Doulingo used to be a learning website with some gamification aspect that made the learning process a bit easier and more entertaining. Now it's just a gaming app which tries to give you a false sense of learning a language but in reality you aren't learning anything. Just a waste of time.

What I miss is not being able to set the priority of WiFi networks
I have an almost identical looking switch in my Mustang (which I imported from America) and it does exactly that - turns the fog lights on and off :)
As someone who is from Europe and tracks their calories, I find it appalling and it makes calorie tracking more inconvenient
As far as I know, in the US you can politely decline a phone search if you are a US citizen. If you're a foreign tourist your only choice is either to allow the search or be denied entry to the Land of Freedom™
How does it work in Australia?
Accessibility aside, their website is an unusable, resource-hogging mess which doesn't even use proper cursor pointers for <a> tags and tries to mess with my scroll.
I have never had autocorrect on. My guess is that iOS is somehow trying to be more clever than me and slightly shifts the keys' hitboxes in a poor attempt to overcompensate for what it thinks is my fingers' clumsiness.
It seems that it only takes into account current traffic jams and not the ones which will occur 30mins into the trip.
For instance, there's this spot in my city where I know there is a traffic jam at around 3:20 PM every day. I usually set off from home around 2:50 PM, which means I'll hit that congested area by 3:20 PM. Interestingly, there are a couple of alternative routes I could take to avoid getting stuck. However, Google Maps keeps pushing me towards the route that's bound to get jammed, simply because there's no traffic showing at the exact moment (2:50 PM) when I'm starting. Doesn't it make sense for the app to use past data to predict the traffic jam?
On the other hand, it often insists on taking me through strange shortcuts and weird backroads just to save a minute or two.
EDIT: Also works for lemmy.ca
If I hadn't found this HN post, I wouldn't have been informed about any changes.

What's faster: downloading an uncompressed 5KB file or downloading a compressed 3KB file and decompressing it?
I use Caddy, the files would be precompressed.
