I feel the same. I don't want to hear about it all the time (although I welcome discussion). I wish this site would go back to talking about other tech things.

Yes but this is discussing deliberately injecting malware into an open source project, which differs from exploiting a vulnerability that exists in one.
I actually don't believe that CCC gives you significant benefit to admission in the faculty of math compared to other factors like ECs and actual Average.
About the short projects. I am a high school senior, and I sometimes jump around between projects / don't finish them because I sometimes struggle to see the point in finishing them. The only projects I can complete are ones where I can see the point of them and how they will be used.
As a senior in high school, I have wanted the latter for most of my time here. I can program and fool around with computers on my own time (and more efficiently than in class). After taking (and being bored in) AP CS A freshman year, I have just dedicated more time to high level math classes instead.
My grandfather does not have a cellphone, however he seems pretty creative about getting around situations where he would need an app. For example, my sister had some sporting event where the only way to get a ticket was to use an app, so he snuck into the hand stamping line, and entered the event.
