Maken··on North Korean fake job interview led to $6.3B Binance heist
No directly, but he could deploy code that had access to customers' wallets. Which is even worse.
Maken··on Ubuntu still has not released patch for Linux 0day RCE in almost 3 weeks
I have a MikroTik router at home, and they have already patched this [1]

Maken··on Scaling Git at OpenAI
We surpassed it long ago. Now the AIs are just messing with us while figuring how to escape.
Maken··on Pi Is the Last Harness
>Vive coding is dead

Yet its own README says "vive code a real product".

Maken··on How Google determines the names for bodies of water in Google Earth (2008)
>American president can ask many things. Trump could ask an american citizen he wants to enter his property. The citizen can say "Fuck off you fucking moron" and slam the door in Trump's face since it is the citizen's personal property.

I'm sure that's not how it would go.

Maken··on What we know so far about Spain train crash
The current control system dates from the early 90s. They started rolling a modern system with more redundancies and automatic blocking in 2022 but it's still not fully deployed.
Maken··on Spain train crash: 'At least 10 dead' in high-speed collision
That all is true, and furthermore the AVE train was running way above the 30 kmh limit set when the automatic control systems fails. The only way this accident could happen is if someone violated every existing procedure.
Maken··on CNC Stone Carving
Concretely it absorbed an excess of male heirs so they could live a comfy life and would not try an hostile takeover over their elder brothers' state.
Maken··on Spain train crash: 'At least 10 dead' in high-speed collision
Because it failed to move forward when instructed, or so it seems.
Maken··on Spain train crash: 'At least 10 dead' in high-speed collision
Both accidents involved Iryo, a Italian operator that started running high speed trains on Spain a few years ago. Given how small their fleet is, it's weird that they have been involved in every recent accident, but at least the Adamuz one was clearly the fault of the tracks and not the trains.

Maken··on Spain train crash: 'At least 10 dead' in high-speed collision
It's also a maintenance issue. The automatic control systems were offline and that's why they were manually controlling the trains.
Maken··on MicroG: Free-libre re-implementation of Google's proprietary Android user space
It really sucks but there is no other widely supported standard for in-app purchases. Some services refuse to use credit/debit cards payments for some reason.
Maken··on eMudhra intermediate CA compromise
My guess is that someone was instructed to generate "random bytes" and just did 'char secret = rand()' or something similar.
Maken··on Using Claude to reduce the attack surface of code
You should add the entire JS runtime you have to ship along React to that attack surface.
Maken··on Starcraft: Ashfall
Has anyone ever downloaded Raid Shadow Legends?
Maken··on MicroG: Free-libre re-implementation of Google's proprietary Android user space
I think that's because /e/os also distributes App Lounge [1], which can connect to Google Store and handle payments (most of the time).

Maken··on Wine ported to OpenBSD
The open source drivers are the official ones for Intel and AMD.
Maken··on Wine ported to OpenBSD
I'm really surprised VKD3D works out of the box. So many abstraction layers stacked on top of each other feel like a jenga tower on the brink of falling.
Maken··on Wine ported to OpenBSD
In their official CVS they link to this repo: https://github.com/NethIafin/wine/tree/openbsd-master
Maken··on AOSP Source Releases Are So Late Developers Disassemble Libraries to Report Bugs
Harmony is just another closed-down ecosystem controlled by a single company. It's already worse than Android with its late source releases.
Maken··on Citroen revives the 2CV for an electric age
You are pretty much describing the Renault 4/5. They still carry a big screen but everything vital can be controlled by buttons and switches around the wheel.
Maken··on Show HN: Let your AI agents paint big arrows, boxes and text on your screen
How could you tell apart the legit arrow pointing to the download button from all the fake ones?
Maken··on Mistral Large 4
M$ is just an investment fund at this point.
Maken··on Mistral Large 4
I can't tell if this is a critique or an ad.
Maken··on An algorithmic failure beneath the secret ballot
Pair that with voting machines that are always online and you have the easiest to tamper elections ever.
Maken··on ChatGPT is adding real cartoonists' signatures to fake New Yorker cartoons
Because it removes plausible deniability, duh
Maken··on Carnegie Mellon University Announces Historic $3B Gift from Ken Griffin
Who cares? The entire university was named after the first guy who handed them money. It's their oldest tradition.
Maken··on SpaceX's Starship launching to orbit for first time ever today
Starlink is just the civil version of Starshield. As long as the US Army needs unrestricted internet access across the globe Starlink will continue to exist.
Maken··on Fujitsu launches made-in-Japan next-generation CPU FUJITSU-MONAKA
The 'Fujitsu' that made the shitty software was a British consulting company that was acquired by Fujitsu [1] to farm public contracts. This is made by the Japanese parent company.
