Mistletoe··on Gemini 4 Carbon
“Let there be light.”
Mistletoe··on The Grid, a factory-scale robot in Massachusetts that builds PCBs on demand
Pray it doesn’t need RAM.
Mistletoe··on What Happened to the Neanderthals?
Can anyone summarize for us troglodytes without NY Times subscriptions?
Mistletoe··on Early progress on accelerating drug development with Claude
I’d love to read Derek Lowe from In The Pipeline eviscerate this.
Mistletoe··on Anthropic S-1
This is always the intent for all recent IPOs I can remember.
Mistletoe··on Show HN: I put employees inside S&P 500 market-cap bubbles
Can someone please explain why 2030?
Mistletoe··on Xbox wants you to pay 24 to 40 cents per hour to stream games you bought
When did owning a physical console become a hassle and require maintenance? I feel like I'm on crazy pills reading the comments in this thread. They can't be real.
Mistletoe··on Sixteen years after Deepwater Horizon, deep sea life shows few signs of recovery
Didn’t you hear? They (gasp) had to suspend the dividend.
Mistletoe··on Butlerian Jihad
This will seem like prophecy and not fiction someday.
Mistletoe··on The baffling intelligence of a single cell (2024)
Isn’t intelligence a fully automatic mechanism? You go down that rabbit hole enough and I always find it hard to find the differences. Same thing with LLMs, people say it’s just a word predictor. But that’s how I wrote this comment and how I think.
Mistletoe··on I think we might lose public key cryptography
Markets are down today over nonsense stargazing like this. If we lose cryptography, we lose everything in a sort of blackout level event like on Blade Runner 2049. It won’t matter what you buy or sell to. I see no signs we are even close to that.
Mistletoe··on Shipping JPEG XL in Chrome
Can the human eye even tell the difference? This feels like 8k vs 4k tv.
Mistletoe··on GPT-6 Astra plays World of Warcraft for the first time with agent-wow
I wanted AI to do my taxes and my work and me to play WoW.
Mistletoe··on Virus Stole a Human Gene and Won't Let Go of It
I’d actually love to, can I swap out many of mine with LeBron and Albert Einstein? Anyone got the torrent link?
Mistletoe··on Virus Stole a Human Gene and Won't Let Go of It
I’m just always amazed that this many HN readers pay for the NY Times or any of the other publications constantly posted here with paywalls.
Mistletoe··on GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price
I’m lost when I read these sort of comment chains. Free Gemini works just fine for me. Maybe it’s because I don’t use it for programming? How many programmers really exist out there? Surely it can’t support the weight of investment that exists in AI already. It’s just such a small pool of the human race.
Mistletoe··on A Privacy Analysis of Web and Mobile Conversational AI Agents [pdf]
That’s not fair, we are also more free training and refining of their models.
Mistletoe··on Every Household in This Rural Town Receives $10k If a Data Center Gets Built
Not enough to even buy them a decent side-by-side anymore.
Mistletoe··on Video CDs Break Windows Explorer
>[0] - Although, they did get seized in a raid apparently <_<

Go on…

Mistletoe··on Show HN: TinyAIArena watch AI agents battle it out
So that I can see the future we shall all enjoy, can you do this with the superpowers of earth and their known nuclear weapons and armies?
Mistletoe··on The Copilot+ PC brand is dead
This would be really cool and I’m afraid, like my iPhone 13 Mini and numerous other things I like, bought by a small amount of people compared to the masses. But that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t exist.
Mistletoe··on Fifteen years later, the Apple Cards origin story
Sheer force of stupid, no one cares if a bar code is on the envelope.
Mistletoe··on The Mafia may be keeping fentanyl out of Italy
Maybe the mafia saw the population curves and realized how precious each customer is now and will be in the future. Something tech companies would be wise to think about...

https://www.macrotrends.net/global-metrics/countries/ita/ita...

And the curve is the same across almost all the world. Italy is 1.3, you need 2.1 to even tread water and keep the population you have. Who buys the stocks and fentanyl when each year you have less and less buyers?

Mistletoe··on Meta VR Glasses
Yes but why do you need to verify your age to use computer hardware?
Mistletoe··on Meta VR Glasses
How do they explain why they need your ID to use VR glasses?
Mistletoe··on Claude discovers a novel enzyme system with CRISPR-like repeats
Wow it’s just as cringe as when it says stuff to me.
Mistletoe··on What Sun got wrong
They should reexamine that wish.

Mistletoe··on I am often wrong
What LinkedIn post did this blow in from?
Mistletoe··on The Millennium Problems for Biology
I’m going to be honest, I don’t know if improving Rubsico is possible. Nature has had every reason to and billions of years. It’s optimized as far as it can go and you either lose speed or specificity, I don’t think having both is possible.
Mistletoe··on New evidence for hidden chambers beyond Tutankhamun's tomb
Absolutely. Extremely formative to my early years.
