More-nitors··on A railroad simulation using discrete event simulation
idk doesn't this mean I can't get any help from IDEs? code-completion? find-all-references?
More-nitors··on AMD's MI300X Outperforms Nvidia's H100 for LLM Inference
this...

nearly 95% of deeplearning github repos are "tested using cuda gpu - others, not so sure"

the only way to out-run nvidia is to have 3~10x better bang-for-buck.

Or AMD can just provide a "DIY unlimited gpu RAM upgrade" kit -- a lot of people are buying macstudio 128gb ram because of its "bigger ram-for-buck" than nvidia gpus

this

people will definitely pay a big premium to get:

a surfacebook with M4 chip with macOS

More-nitors··on Observation of zero resistance above 100 K in Pb₁₀₋ₓCuₓ(PO₄)₆O
guess it's safer to eat :)
More-nitors··on Defecting from North Korea is now harder
+ PRC sending back escapees back to NK

PRC should give the escapees the right to travel, instead of deporting.

I expect a lot of wumaos to resort to whataboutisms completely unrelated to the right-to-travel / right-to-asylum / right-to-immigration / etc

More-nitors··on Defecting from North Korea is now harder
> Are they really insterested in telling us the truth or are they just saying/doing whatever is needed to protect their interests?

regardless of that, shouldn't you also truly believe on "let North Koreans travel freely"?

More-nitors··on Why I Left Rust
this whole "woke" mentality is going out of hand too fast...

I mean, someone bullying some veterans/old men because they're "woke and feminist" isn't going to earn any sympathy from me.

nowadays... "woke" just means "I'm better than you (so I can/will do things that are otherwise unacceptable to you)"

...I think we chose the wrong word. Rather than "woke", it should have been "NO BULLYING" -- which includes all things the real "woke" people tried to do, and forbids all things the wrong "woke" people are trying to do

More-nitors··on Chris Lattner and Modular Announce Mojo, a New Programming Language
how is it related to turing-complete?

I mean, if python has some unnecessary performance-killing while loops hidden inside, it can be 35000x slower for everything regardless of 'turing-complete'

More-nitors··on Google Summer of Code 2023
I'm no longer student at a university (working) -- can I apply? are there any age restrictions?
More-nitors··on How to own an airline in 3 easy steps and grab the TSA nofly list along the way

More-nitors··on Study finds that buttons in cars are safer and quicker to use than touchscreens

More-nitors··on Tencent WeChat is now a GitHub secret scanning partner

More-nitors··on Cook whole grains like popcorn (2018)

btw you can put this in ramen

More-nitors··on Corviale, a one-kilometer residential complex in Rome
hm I thought they were to impress people... show off "we can build this in one-go" / "we can compensate/take this big-land from the owners in one-go"

In construction, you have to have the timing right for the whole building in one-go...

In land-ownership issue, you have to own the whole land / negotiate with/seize from with owners who own some of the land

More-nitors··on Native Reflection in Rust
how about adding this to debuggers for better object-views? (could it be possible to provide near-js/python/java level of obj view?)

More-nitors··on PC wakes from sleep when changing clothes
listening for clicking might be a better choice:

1. mouse doesn't have 'actively listen' for mouse movement - exceptions: ball-mouse 2. unintentional-clicking is much more rare

More-nitors··on Caste in California: Tech giants confront ancient Indian hierarchy
hm maybe I can just bring bunch of examples

and conclude that people just regulary kill other people just because they feel like it...

More-nitors··on Caste in California: Tech giants confront ancient Indian hierarchy
> Asian christians pray in separate churches

that's not due to some artificial separation like caste...

it's something to do with homesickness/cultural/language-related natural phenomenon. (eg. church pastor is a friend of a relative etc)

and no one thinks one is above the other due to the separation. (except for cooking...)

More-nitors··on The Zoom installer let a researcher hack his way to root access on macOS
hm that's what some banking apps / most malware apps do...

More-nitors··on Comcast: Simulating shitty network connections so you can build better systems

users of google maps / apple TV don't have to send 'write' operations except for a few features (set-favorite, etc)

More-nitors··on Vaccine-derived poliovirus type 2 detected in London, UK
how about giving dead viral vaccine, and then giving live one after 1 month or so?
More-nitors··on Bitcoin mining becomes unprofitable as BTC price falls to average cost of mining
"self-correcting equilibrium" sounds like the whole thing is doing OK...

but after Luna-fiasco and self-proclaimed "stable" coins being unstable, how does anyone keep trust in crypto-coins?

More-nitors··on NPM Vulnerability Discussion on Twitter

More-nitors··on Experience Report: 6 months of Go
regarding null: google's Dart recently got type-level null-safety.

Maybe that's planned for Go too?

I mean, they're both made in google, so...
