MrCoffee7··on Show HN: HN Atlas – Discover tools to better engage with Hacker News
How about adding a category for the most useful HN web browser extensions such as HNRelevant? How about a category for the most useful HN lexical analysis tools, eg. https://hackernewstrends.com ? There are a lot of HN readers missing from your list like https://hackerer.news, https://hackernewstimes.com , https://thefrontpage.dev ? How about HN embeddings or visualizations, eg. https://tomthe.github.io/hackmap/?x=1499.5619140625001&y=-50... ?
MrCoffee7··on A Defense Contractor Gave Their AI Agent Access to a Secure Pentagon System
Accenture has been named as a defendant in over 90 lawsuits and federal court cases https://docketnexus.com/party/accenture-llp/?activity=meanin...
MrCoffee7··on Survival LLM: AI assistant and emergency library that runs on your own computer
I would suggest Hammunition, https://github.com/Renegade-Penguin/Hammunition with install docs at https://renegade-penguin.github.io/Hammunition/ . Hammunition offers much more info than Nomad for SHTF type emergencies. Hammunition uses KIWIX tools instead of an LLM to search the reference sources that you downloaded (eg. Wikipedia, etc.). You can install it on a Linux distro on a 500 GB external SSD drive that you can pick up for $100 at Microcenter. It is geared toward people interested in ham radio, but you can listen only on the ham radio bands without a ham license.
MrCoffee7··on Show HN: I made new search engine with DeepSeek's search API
The search engine is nice but it has a very short maximum query length and complexity allowance.
MrCoffee7··on Opus 5.5 built a 3D film explaining how LLM works
The video looks nice but it has quite a few significant technical inaccuracies which you can easily verify for yourself by asking your favorite AI chatbot about it.
MrCoffee7··on Ask HN: Resources for best practices in software development with AI?

MrCoffee7··on Open-sourcing AstaBrief, the fast report-generation model in Asta
I had AstaBrief produce a report on the query: Compare the pros and cons of various methods of batch normalization in AI applications? The report was terrible with numerous errors in reasoning and in the way that numbers were reported - way too many errors to take the time to enumerate and argue about here. Just run your own experiment with a sufficiently difficult question that does not just require some simple fact lookup and you will see what I mean.
MrCoffee7··on Free site for reading and comparing religious texts
There is no weblink to review your Terms of Service when signing in - are there any fees associated with using this app?
MrCoffee7··on Airnet – Radio on Air
I don't get this app - I entered US in the search bar and it only found 1 radio station?
MrCoffee7··on Is there word or term for $Trillion valued companies not having perfect UI?
"Organizational Diseconomies of scale" - see the paper https://econpapers.repec.org/article/blajemstr/v_3a4_3ay_3a1...
MrCoffee7··on Show HN: Collected every single "What are you working on" project into a website
This is great! It looks like projects can only be searched one month at a time - it would be nice to be able to search over all time in one search?
MrCoffee7··on Ask HN: Is there an emerging pattern for NEGATIVESKILLS.md files?
This paper wasn't for SKILLS per se, but for LLMs, and suggests that LLMs can't follow too many constraints at one time very well https://arxiv.org/abs/2608.12426 . Other papers suggest that LLMs show more information sparsity in the results with negative constraints.
MrCoffee7··on Ask HN: What is the average number of hops in your social network to 9-11 death?
From a couple cursory convos with AI chatbots without stratifying by age group of the first node, it looks like the average number of hops in the social network would be around 1.7 to 2 hops (just counting those who knew someone killed immediately on 9-11). But the average number of hops probably has a bimodal distribution depending on whether the first person has a lot of people in their social newtwork from either NYC or Washington, DC area.
MrCoffee7··on Ask HN: What is the average number of hops in your social network to 9-11 death?
It would be interesting to see the numerical results both ways to see the effects with and without 9-11 induced fatal diseases.
MrCoffee7··on Ask HN: What is the average number of hops in your social network to 9-11 death?
About one in five of the people who were alive on 9-11 would have died by now. But my original question is about the average number of hops in the social network of everyone alive today (in the U.S.), which would include people born after 9-11. I would have made my original title longer but HN seems to have a limit on the number of characters in the title.
MrCoffee7··on 2026 Hugo Awards
This is such a crappy article - why didn't it include any images of the book covers, etc.? It seems that writing and journalism have become so bad.
MrCoffee7··on Sam Altman tells TIME that OpenAI will achieve AGI by the end of this year
It is fairly meaningless for him to say this as there is not even a generally accepted definition of AGI, so anyone can make any type of statement that is not falsifiable.
MrCoffee7··on Show HN: Chrome extension that gives you the TlDR from YouTube without the watch
I don't understand why the Chrome store says that your extension collects the following data - this seems like it would be a security problem to anyone using your app?

Authentication information

For example: passwords, credentials, security question, or personal identification number (PIN)

MrCoffee7··on Inference Engineering: A free book on the systems behind AI inference
The roofline chart on page 63 has some problems. The X and Y axis are not labeled with units such as "FLOP/byte." Also, proper roofline charts don't have the dashed line that the chart on page 63 has - they have a only flat line on the right part of the graph and that is why they are called a "roofline chart" - see the examples in the paper: https://arxiv.org/pdf/2506.05871 . I'm a bit confused also about why that roofline chart does not show the effects of different levels of quantization on the roofline max thruput, which would successively climb the performance axis to higher levels as you went from FP16 to INT8 to INT4. Also, I don't really follow the discussion on page 64 and following pages as it doesn't discuss the affects of quantization on max thruput as it appears that the paper cited on page 64 was before the use of quantization really took off?
MrCoffee7··on Ask HN: Any Curated Forum Directories?
The general directories I have found are mostly just compilations of forums rather than curated lists listing just the best ones. You best bet to search for them would be looking for "awesome"-type resource compilations for the particular niche you are interested in, and then seeing if that list has an entry for "Forums" under its resources.
MrCoffee7··on Show HN: Millennium – Steam Homebrew
What makes this better than the vanilla Steam client? Does it offer any features that improve search and search filters?
MrCoffee7··on Ask HN: AI rollout for 100 employees, mostly non-technical – what worked?
You need to identify your use cases first to see if it even makes any economic sense to bring in some kind of mass AI and also have your legal dept. look over any issues that arise with AI use, especially if you work in a regulated industry of some kind like healthcare or finance.
MrCoffee7··on Paged Out – Issue #9
This zine is great! Are you going to post previous issues of it on your Discord server?
MrCoffee7··on Show HN: Infinite Jigsaw Game
The game does not work - I do not see any puzzle pieces
MrCoffee7··on Flowers for Algernon
Two very different movies were made about this book: "Charly" starring Cliff Robertson and "Flowers for Algernon" starring Matthew Modine. The movies were made years apart and have very different vibes for the way that Charlie Gordon was portrayed reflecting different philosophies of acting at the times they were made. Cliff Robertson won an Oscar for his portrayal of Charlie Gordon.

MrCoffee7··on Ask HN: What is happening with the current AI startup ecosystem?

MrCoffee7··on Built Uber aggregator that tracks top AI researchers and leaders
This looks very useful - thanks. I have an idea. What about making your tags clickable topics that can act as search filters and be explored. For example, in the Pulse section what if you made "professor" listed after a person's name a clickable weblink that would filter the Pulse section to just show entries for people who fit the "professor" tag, etc.?
