It was interesting that there was a preference for the higher priced cables. It is too bad that I did not save my votes to see if my poorly trained ears matched what the others preferred. It is hard to say if there is justifiable benefit in spending big money for cables but I would say it is worth spending a little bit more than the cost of lamp cord based on this test.
With the digital cables to me it seems like a high data rate, low error rate and decent buffering system is all that is necessary for good sound. Given the data rates required for audio (even SACD is in the low MiB/s range) a cheap USB cable should do the trick.
My 2014 goal is 10K pages read not including technical or maths. This year I will keep accurate records and keep a burn down chart to make sure I reach my goal. Last year I had quickly fallen behind and keep poor records (a read stack pushed around by a young child.)

I also think it was silly to offer pensions in the first place since it is not possible to predict the future. People working for cities and other organizations offering pensions should be very concerned by recent events.
Not sure who would want this... the pricing seems high but still cheaper than a real girlfriend from what I remember.

With incandescent bulbs I was also concerned with electric shock from broken bulb, cuts and burns... though I wonder if the LED bulb would be a fire hazard if it were to rest on something.

It looks like they will be in a difficult position 30-40 years out once the proportion of elderly grows.
