Opocio··on Every AI model has the same "controversial" take on humans
There are whole university degrees about "physics of complex systems". "Emergent properties" is a lens you use when looking at something. For example magnetism is seen as an emergent property of particles interacting and aligning. Thermodynamics can be seen as emergent properties of statistical mechanics (pressure, temperature etc). Agency is another example of lenses used to interpret something. Does a toaster have agency because it's trying to toast bread? Yes or no depending on the lenses you are using to describe its behaviour.
Opocio··on Mark Zuckerberg attacks 'closed' AI rivals as Meta returns to open models
Not if you are worried about the existential threat AI poses. Having easily available AI makes it hardier to regulate, control and limit until we find a way to align AI. Harder to control is a good thing for most technologies, but not for all. A weak analogy is nuclear weapons. if Meta would release and open source some tech that would magically make extremely easy and cheap for everyone to build a nuke, it would not be a positive for society.

I bet you can use a not gated model as intermediary to do the role-playing job for you.
Opocio··on Why is AI so slow to spread?
It's quite easy to switch LLM api, so you can just transition to a competitor. Competition between AI providers is quite fierce, I don't see them setting up a cartel anytime soon. And open source models are not that far beyond commercial ones.

Me neither.

But how I see it is that for solving KC in full generality you'll have to:

- Start with the program that explicitly returns the original string. Let's say it has length N - run all possible programs that are shorter than N (just try all combinations of characters) - look at the results and pick the shortest program that compiles and outputs the original string

The problem there is that you have to wait for all programs to end, and you don't know if they will end or not. So you have a problem that's equivalent to the halting problem (and that's not solvable) (and the halting problem is loosely related to the interesting number problem).

(This is not a proof and I don't have a background in the field btw)
