Years ago like 2010, 11 Microsoft had demo touchscreen computers running an art application in the Kids Room at the MOMA museum in NYC. It was responsive to actual brushes and was quite an interesting interface. As far as I knew it was a beta.
It is more a nice extra than truly useful. Especially if trackpad or keyboard are starting to have issues. On occasion it can be easy to just fat-finger an onscreen button or on a long read just gently scroll. On videos they can be paused by tapping the play window. This is probably a step in their grand scheme to further merge Mac and ios together.
A fun aside is a New York Times reporter pulled up some drawing app on his phone at a holiday party to show my kid and was visibly shocked when my kid just started creating using the on screen icons before the guy could even start tutoring him. I don't recall if the Microsoft thing had any intro or demo that guided him on the tools a little or if he just absorbed it.
Computers were supposed to reduce paper flow in business. For quite awhile the amount of printed paper was increased. This will follow that path and it will take some time if ever to stabilize.
My all time favorite was Beat the Clock. It was in the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ. Instead of three or five balls you got an allotment of time. The hook was you could pause the clock and until it restart you had extended time.
I liked several others too, I'm old enough I recall the time before video games being born in 1968. Pinball has the visceral feel once you master the gentle nudge and flipper skills.
I doubt they modeled the net outflows of capital from the retirement zones each year as estates get settled. Though I did see a claim of increasing GDPs in those inbound states.
The timing of dose reductions increase as one does down. And the amounts one can drop each time decrease a lot. Separately that lack of inhibition is the secret sauce for high power executives to deliver deceptive or outright false speeches and do horrible things like lie under oath or do mass firings.
MacOS 26 Has lots of annoying and worse changes. At least there is a possibility to revert to 25 if the device ever supported it but phones and tablets are more trapped. My wife is having a miserable time with iMessages on ios26 they are not always hitting the phone and even after applecare fixes they revert to only hitting her laptop. I think Apple has peaked if they can't right their software ship. It will be a loss as they are more secure.
In New York state half of property taxes is for county contributions to the state medicaid fund. This excludes the seperate schools tax which is property based. Health care costs drive up many costs in the US including all libality insurances. The second part of this tax mess comes from the excessive military budgets since the late 1970s most of our national debt as of the mid 1990s was from that waste of resources. I understand we shouldn't just cut abruptly but our spend on weapons needs to slowly decline while we fund the transfer of workers out of the military industrial complex. And there are a lot of structural accounting problems like how personal credit card and automobile financing isn't tax deductbable but leveraged buyout interest is. The tax exemption for share buybacks is another budget drain. My instinct is we need a universal national income tax along with a land tax that in some ways exempts housing up to some middle or upper middleclass level.
I lost a disc we bought from a busking vocal group of Mongolians in Amsterdam back in May of 1999. Also from same year from southern Mexico we got a bootleg NBA rap disc with different tracks than any official release. Burned disc that slowly failed but that we still have liner notes.
These were big in the late 90s going into the early 00s. And there were also SVCDs which were MPEG2 video insead of MPEG1. There were a few brands of DVD players that supported them, APEX was the 90s one form China and then Phillips had some models that played lots of formats including avi files. The avi files often used a testing mpg4 video codec in the microsoft video player that got extracted and became the standard and grew into Divx and later Xvid.
This is depressing, I just got this x13s hoping to give this arm craze a try as supposedly it has fairly full Linux support. I will just ignore any claims about Qualcomm until Dell or Lenovo release models with Linux pre-installed and they get real world reports over time.
Whew, thank you for this summary. I just got this laptop as it seemed to have "good" Linux potential, but I've been stuck so far. And as further caution to others, hibernate doesn't work on Linux, and audio is glitchy. Even on windows 11 pro the shutdown menu is missing. It seems to sleep on windows but not sure about battery drain, which is reported to be 1-2%/hr in Linux.
We as a planet were approaching Peak Oil consumption and this mishap has just acclerated that slightly. In all likelyhood annual oil consumtion will slowly decline or maybe quickly.
Philips Warm Glow A19 Medium Dimmable LED Light Bulb 479428, is something I've found. Phillips has been making more lights in the amber range. I really can't stand lights with higher kelvin ratings.
The cathedral movement started in 1006 with a quiet goal to redirect resources away from the crusades. It was also from a sort of cultural vacuum after the world didn't end at the turn of the millennium.
Personally I prefer aisle seats. I am 6'2" and the slightly curved space on the window isn't as comfortable for me, same with some trains and busses. Yes the aisle has its own negatives but that's the devil I prefer.
40 years ago we just wrote as much as we could down. The teacher usually hand wrote on the chalkboard. Some courses had slides, a precursor to PowerPoint. There is some reasearch that writing down on paper or with a stylus puts the stuff in extra places in our head.
