I think you are right on the money here, friend. Whenever I'm purchasing something online, I'm always curious how that transaction will take place... sometimes so much as just "test purchasing" the item to see what will occur if I actually decide to buy.
I am right there with you. I am a little over half way through my 30th year of life. I have "wasted" a lot by having a ton of fun and enjoying myself, while also getting plenty done professionally. I am excited about the future, and also intrigued with this concept of another 30-50 years of productivity, but like you, sometimes I can accept a fate of being 'finished'. It's weird, but not in a morbid way, more like a, "I'm so blessed to have been able to do all this amazing stuff" kind of way.
Now this is brilliant. I was thinking the same thing, "Man I'd like to play as a real person, before I build a bot." I feel silly now that I didn't think of building a software controller like you did. Also thanks for sharing the code. I'm gonna have to try it out.
I am about to jump from safety of the regular salary, and do something similar. I'll be 30 in a few months and have always wanted to do this. Just curious how did your journey into biz-owner begin, and what was the biggest shock?
I'm really digging this information. Thanks for gathering/writing it. I know you didn't solicit requests for the design of your website, but man that right hand side bar is crazy unorthodox and gave me a difficult time with focusing on content. Not trying to cramp your style, just trying to give you some constructive criticism.
The Imp seems cool, but it's price point (when combined with the breakout board) is higher than a Raspberry Pi and Usb Wifi dongle. Not only is the price higher, the hardware isn't nearly as capable.
Betteridge's law of headlines is an adage that states: "Any headline which ends in a question mark can be answered by the word no." It is named after Ian Betteridge, a British technology journalist,[1] although the general concept is much older.[2] The observation has also been called "Davis' law"[3][4] or just the "journalistic principle".[5]
While I find this fascinating, it does seem a bit curious to post this in a hacker forum. I was half way expecting to read that the farmer had been "bio-hacking" trying to come up with a healthy hybrid.
I can't seem to justify writing tests. It is time consuming and cumbersome. I figure as long as I document reasonably well, and the design is straight forward there is no sense is wasting my time to write tests. I'd prefer to get something done instead of supposedly helping my future self(or my employers).
I think this is a pretty fun little quiz engine. I don't speak c++ very often, and was pleased to pass the medium difficulty with reasonable confidence. I looked for a difficult problem, but it looked too hard for me to care about thinking about it right now, but maybe one day.
