SV_BubbleTime··on Serbia just elected the world's brainiest parliament
The claim is several are good, I can’t think of as many that I can they are not only bad, but fucking awful as responsible for the murder of millions.

Directly comparable things are not a whataboutism. You just don’t like it.

>Cycles of abuse. The ones who don’t leave.

My form of government is conscripted politicians that don’t want to do it.

Anyone that wants it, needs to be kept far away from it.

SV_BubbleTime··on Serbia just elected the world's brainiest parliament
What you are actually saying is that propaganda well works on dumb young people… which is not at all the point you were trying to make I’m fairly sure.

>There are several examples of positive student-led revolutions.

Um… there are lots of counter-examples. Among others… famously Mao’s extremely deadly color revolution was student led. As was Castro, as was the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia.

“Student led” revolution if you have ever read about the failures of communism is a red flag.

No. OpenAI and Huggingface have shit practices.

Nothing went “rogue”. They asked for a solution and got one. Their agents didn’t go off and do thing out of their own idle agency.

It depends on the audience. If someone had a 3-D printer companies said that yeah that’s probably OK.

People seem to think Proton Mail is a serious organization. His tone is the least of the problems.

My near-80 year old in-laws were talking about rogue agents and how a site called HuggingFace was hacked…

I didn’t need any more evidence. The media is fake and everything you see is designed to affect the stock price somewhere and if it can’t affect the stock price, you don’t see it.

But holy shit, they’re asking me if I saw the “rogue agents”.

Trillions of dollars are involved here to swing clueless people into being scared and also awed. It’s gross.

SV_BubbleTime··on Chained PHP2Shell exploit roots 25 servers, including US Government servers
You probably just have added “find all exploits” and “breathe slowly, relax, and focus”…

Sorry, I still resent the moronic 2024 “Prompt Engineering” guides that were obviously bullshit and non-falsifiable random claims.

Actually, I changed my mind.

It’s a keyboard you don’t need masterless. You would be fine with one master, as you have USB to work out anyhow, and none of your keys need to talk to each other.

You could look into single wire LIN. You might still need a transceiver. And you might want to use it with 12V but that isn’t necessary.

There is an interesting way you could do othangonal position detection. And while it’s much slower than I2C, there would be no relaying at every step. I bet it would be lower latency overall.

SV_BubbleTime··on Tailscale SSH: Investigation and remediation update
That’s cute. Have Claude do it. There is already an echo system of TOPT QR to communicate it, so you would just need to convert your six digit code to two or more hits on the 16bit port range.

I’m not even sure you need more than two. One seems bad because that’s just a lucky port scanner one time.

SV_BubbleTime··on Show HN: A Truly Modular Keyboard
Can requires a transceiver, but they can get quite small now. I don’t know if it fits in your cost model, but again all your chips would be single can module which is easy to do. Gets hard when you need 3+ CANs. IDK, I’m sure there are other masterless systems out there, I just have twenty years automotive experience with CAN.

If it’s not open weights, no one should care.

It doesn’t matter how impressive your demo is if it takes a literal data center to run.

Actual innovation can’t be seen at the let’s just throw money at it level. But, it can be seen at the that’s cool. I can run it on my laptop level.

For humans that don’t follow every tiny little bit of news and recall it for one word non-secular answers to things…

I assume this guy is saying that I should upgrade my iPhone 15 because of an Israeli tech company, Cellebrite. Implying that I need to stay current on my phone hardware in order to be not targeted by a nation state actor.

SV_BubbleTime··on New iPad mini
Keep looking at your feet, you might find the point there someday.

The point isn’t the money. It’s the value.

Is that easier for you to understand? Perhaps I should refute my own argument since you are having trouble getting to a point in which you can agree or disagree?

SV_BubbleTime··on New iPad mini
I can, easily, wouldn’t feel the cost in any way.

The question you I think should ask is who finds this value reasonable?. To which, I can only answer my myself who can’t see any reason to upgrade from my iPhone 15.

SV_BubbleTime··on Show HN: A Truly Modular Keyboard
So every I2C command is a relay hop? The 10th key in a chain has all the latency of the 9 before it who got the message and relayed it on? Separately what happens when the key is connected on all four of its sides? Does it receive four messages and need to send out four? Or is there some discovery of best path to master? I assume the master polls out “hey have you been pressed” to everyone?

Off the top of my head, I think I would have considered a masterless node system like CAN here, there everyone would just post their press status on change and on cyclic… because if you have to relay I2C messages even at 400kbps, that seems like a latency build up at n keys down the line.

But, I haven’t really thought about it at all. I’ve only used I2C like twice ever!

SV_BubbleTime··on Anthropic S-1
That’s a good analogy! On the topic, does the person who hires private security become at all responsible for their actions? I imagine if you hire direct then yes, but if you hire through an organization they are liable in many scenarios.
SV_BubbleTime··on Anthropic S-1
First off, this is bs. Firearm companies make small machines useful for defense, and they are used for that more than for harm. You wouldn’t make this argument about knives or baseball bats. More people die per year of heat stroke in Europe because of lack of A/C than by guns including suicide (2/3rds of all gun deaths) in the USA every year, your comments would never reflect this much lower hanging fruit if it was really “just life” preventable death that you cared about. The immediacy to attack guns is not a logical argument but a trained one based on emotions.

Second, this happens all the time that people blame tool makers despite in this case specific legislation to stop lawfare on firearm mfgs. The PLCA https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protection_of_Lawful_Commerce_... exists specifically because of gun control groups trying to attack mfgs to achieve their political goals. Does AI need the same law? Is the same lawfare happening?

I looked over the PCB and schematic and it looks well polished. Not a first draft obviously.

I sort of don’t get the 4x I2C busses. I’m probably missing something obvious but it isn’t immediately apparent how the units all have addressing worked out.

SV_BubbleTime··on IBM CEO says open weight models are now good and cheap on-prem
I’ve been in tech for a long time… I have no idea what IBM does. Now, I get that I’m not the customer, that their customer is “business” but not my business… no… bigger business. The biggest of businesses I assume. I think it must either be a club I’m not in, or IBM is three half racks in a trenchcoat submitting invoices for millions to companies where people just pay it because “it’s IBM, it must be important”.

I like the anthropic has $1 trillion riding on really good models with really specific system prompts.

It does make a difference. I asked Fable in Claude code to design a UI. Absolute trash. Switched over to Claude design using fable, really liked the result. Seems pretty obvious. The only difference is the prompt and some harness.

SV_BubbleTime··on Your Phone Is About to Stop Being Yours: 70 Days Until Lockdown
>Something needs to be done to [reign] in

Should Google be less than an asshole in all things? Yes.

I think there’s this like “something must be done now!” attitude of self-important, busybodies I can’t get behind… even if they’re right.

Why have people convinced themselves into thinking now is the most important thing in the world? That if it doesn’t happen now so that it makes me happy instantly it isn’t an option?

Evolution; social, tech, biological, legal, just fucking takes time, and that’s a feature.

There will be a period in which there’s a ton of food over there but your little fishy fins can’t get to it, and that sucks, but deal with it yourself, or just chill and let things happen. I promise if it’s important someone will solve it eventually and the scales do not need to be tipped for every little thing like phone app permissiveness.

In the meantime, you are free to not buy an android phone if you don’t like the system that Google has produced. You seem to think that because you can see its insides that it is collectively owned. It isn’t. Google owns it. Talk of talking it from its owners, is theft. In this case, justified entirely because you don’t like a process they decided on.

Don’t make me defend Google, I fucking hate Google.

But, France has Free Healthcare… ?

If they socialized healthcare then why are they dealing with such a scarcity issue? All citizens are paying for it out of their taxes. Why isn’t it working?
