Scarbutt··on Ask HN: What do you run on a $5 VPS that's worth keeping online 24/7?
How does wireguard helps you with NAT traversal? Reliable NAT traversal on top of wireguard is their moat.
Scarbutt··on DeepSeek Harness
You can run it in server mode according to the docs.

Scarbutt··on Rails World 2026 Opening Keynote [video]
Promoting his rails services where the creator and biggest defender of rails replaced rails with an AI generated rust version without writing a single line of code.

His comment is just damage control and biased, it did not state he's heavily invested financially in rails. Not everyone knows who he is, I didn't.

Scarbutt··on Rails World 2026 Opening Keynote [video]
It doesn't matter if Rails is well suited for AI or not. Now, there's less incentive and reasons to use it.

From your profile: CEO/Founder of Planet Argon...

Looking it up: Planet Argon is a Ruby on Rails development agency.

Scarbutt··on Every invoice in Brazil's economy runs on SOAP 1.2
What programming languages have the best ecosystems to interact with SOAP 1.2 ? What's your stack/libs to interact with it?
Scarbutt··on JetKVM Mini
You missed the IP part. Which is what makes these product useful to many.
Scarbutt··on This Month in Ladybird – August 2026
Not even Firefox can keep up chasing down the chromium universe.
Scarbutt··on Run OpenBSD on DigitalOcean for $4/month
Crazy that after so many years of cloud compute a 8GB VM is $48/mo.

Scarbutt··on Show HN: I spent 2 years designing a mechanical Magic Keyboard
This looks great. Never liked the idea of having to add wrist rests to all these tall bulky mechanical keyboards.

Does it support the globe key without having to use karabiner?

Scarbutt··on Superlogical
We're a team that has spent our entire careers building some of the most widely used developer tooling, infrastructure software, and AI systems.

Not being snarky. What AI systems have they built?

Scarbutt··on The startup's Postgres survival guide
If you can afford to lose the data created between backups, sure.
Scarbutt··on TypeScript 7
Because it’s easier to work with one main language if you can get away with it.
Scarbutt··on Show HN: Boo – Screen-style terminal multiplexer built on libghostty
One window per session

This no good ;)

Old busted screen can do multiple windows per session.

Scarbutt··on macOS Container Machines
The katas container kernel by default.
Scarbutt··on It's hard to justify buying a Framework 12
You can replace Framework with Dell, HP, Lenovo in the title. Why pick on Framework?
Scarbutt··on DeepSeek makes the V4 Pro price discount permanent
Surprised Anthropic hasn't done anything to restrict Claude Code from using other providers.
Scarbutt··on The vi family
The comments about LLM contributed code seems like a specific axe to grind that otherwise detracts from a nice history lesson.

Seems like an interesting fact for those who don't follow the development of vim/neovim.

Scarbutt··on I switched from Mac to a Lenovo Chromebook
Do you use x64 emulation with UTM? If so, how's the performance?
Scarbutt··on From Supabase to Clerk to Better Auth
What framework offers all those auth features OOTB?
Scarbutt··on I am worried about Bun
That's assuming Google can outpace Nvidia, which may or never will. Nvidia is not just going to sleep on it.
Scarbutt··on VS Code inserting 'Co-Authored-by Copilot' into commits regardless of usage
Unfortunately, Zed is years behind VSCode in terms of polish, Microsoft supported LSPs just work better in VSCode, they are better integrated, and Zed can't do anything about LSPs memory or peformance.
Scarbutt··on VS Code inserting 'Co-Authored-by Copilot' into commits regardless of usage
"chat.disableAIFeatures": true
Scarbutt··on OpenWarp
A personal Mac terminal emulator built for terminal-based AI work.

How exactly does it help with "terminal-based AI work"?

Scarbutt··on Claude.ai unavailable and elevated errors on the API
Is the $200k just development or are the products being developed require AI?
Scarbutt··on I Forgot to Code
We can tell. Scrolling on that website feels heavy and lags.
Scarbutt··on Localsend: An open-source cross-platform alternative to AirDrop
Silly apple. They should remove airdrop and tell users they have to rely on an internet connection and use whatsapp or email for quick, one-off file transfers between their iphones and macbooks.
Scarbutt··on Anthropic: Developing a Claude Code competitor using Claude Code is banned
a local ai workstation

Peak HN comment

Scarbutt··on Zedless: Zed fork focused on privacy and being local-first
A code editor with a lot of rough edges. If they don't start polishing the turd I doubt the'll make it.
