SemiNormal··on Dum: An NPM scripts runner written in Rust
> was there a point in time where “written in C++” was a similar “selling point”?

Notepad++ maybe?

SemiNormal··on Dum: An NPM scripts runner written in Rust
Go is more of an alternative for python/ruby than it is for C/C++.
SemiNormal··on Twitter acquires Quill
So it was basically a message board?
SemiNormal··on Twitter acquires Quill
Well not letting people export and purging all Quill DMs is not a good start.
SemiNormal··on Ubuntu to Make Firefox Snap Default in 21.10
Mobile is such a huge percent of market share so I doubt if one desktop distro changing the default browser moves Firefox more than 0.5%.
SemiNormal··on The Linux Distributions of 1992
My first was Slackware. Back when they would mail you a CD of the distro for free.
SemiNormal··on Why Valve Is Switching from Debian to Arch for Steam Deck's Linux OS
That's kind of the point of CentOS (or was). Sacrificing newer packages for stability.

SemiNormal··on Firefox to regularly nag users to change their default browser
Why did you include the Mozilla Foundation as an awful decision?
SemiNormal··on GitHub was down
Because they likely get a large number of users doing git pull first thing Monday morning.
SemiNormal··on Show HN: Dumbdown – A dumb alternative to Markdown
Then someone else would say "I really hate people" and add <blink>
SemiNormal··on Show HN: Dumbdown – A dumb alternative to Markdown
They can just use a word processor then. I am not really seeing the target audience for this.
SemiNormal··on Somerset cattle grid mistaken for wall by car sensors
It seems it isn't just auto drive. Cars with object collision detection are slamming on the brakes when they come near this cattle grid. Signs wouldn't help in that case.
SemiNormal··on Symbian Won
Whitesmiths style is for sadists.
SemiNormal··on Show HN: Learn Regular Expressions with simple, interactive exercises
https://regexr.com/ is another good site for testing your RegEx.

SemiNormal··on .NET Standard 2.1
".NET Standard" is the specification that defines the available features. .NET Framework 4.7 (windows) and .NET Core 2.1 (cross-platform) both implement .NET Standard 2.0, meaning they have a shared feature set.
SemiNormal··on .NET Standard 2.1
It is. The WPF library is just a separate package that includes a lot of Windows API calls to allow .NET Core to talk to WPF.
SemiNormal··on ChuChu TV is responsible for widely-viewed toddler content on YouTube
> "In the very first episode, Gordon takes a little girl's hand who he's just met on the street, befriends her and takes her into his home to give her ice cream"

With this kind of normalization of hanging out with strangers on TV, I am not really surprised that children were more likely to be abducted in the 70's and 80's.

SemiNormal··on AWS icon quiz
It is almost like the auto generated gravatar icons.
SemiNormal··on Remember broken Nexus telephony? This is how Google treats it's customers
Good luck with your iOS 8 bluetooth connectivity issues. (other than that, everything seems to work fine)
