Splendor··on USPS Informed Delivery – Digital Images of Front of Mailpieces
You are not. The USPS already images all mail for all persons[0]. Not to mention their use of license plate scanners[1] if you're picking up your mail at a post office.

Splendor··on Breaks Observed in Rover Wheel Treads
I would love to see a write-up of everything we've learned about wheel engineering from the Mars rovers. What would the team(s) responsible for Curiousity's wheels do different now? (I don't mean to imply that their design is not successful -- just that I'm sure they've learned from this iteration)
Splendor··on Hitting Absolute Zero Has Been Declared Mathematically Impossible
Thank you!
Splendor··on Hitting Absolute Zero Has Been Declared Mathematically Impossible
> "It's the speed of cooling."

Maybe I missed it but did the article actually define this "speed of cooling"?

Splendor··on Cold email tips I used to get 60K signups
If you do it it's 'cold mailing'. If someone else does it it's 'spamming'.
Splendor··on Google Splits Hangouts into Chat and Meet
Google+ Communities overlap with group chat in some ways.
Splendor··on System76 launching ARM Pro server with 96 cores up to 1TB ECC RAM and 32TB storage
Slightly off-topic; the "FakeHtop" element on the page is mesmerizing.
Splendor··on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Review
Many reviewers have had the game for over a week at this point so they may well be 40 hours into the game.
Splendor··on Microsoft Launching $10/month Xbox Game Pass
Do we have any information about how game developers are compensated for including their games in this new subscription option?
Splendor··on Our company’s remote work system failed
Same here. I kept re-reading trying to find the part I missed where they explain what they actually tried.
Splendor··on Introducing Keybase Chat
So how does this compare to Slack's free tier? Is there a user limit, channel limit, message history limit, etc.?
Splendor··on Writing a cron job microservice with Serverless and AWS Lambda
This seems fine for a single job but if you have dozens to manage it would become unwieldy. I'm excited to see the ins and outs of AWS Glue[0]. Hopefully that will make projects like this more manageable.

Splendor··on KDE Slimbook
Very nice. I would buy this over a MacBook Air assuming two things:

* The trackpad isn't terrible

* The battery life is decent (6+ hours)

Splendor··on Five big mysteries about CRISPR’s origins
IIRC it was on Bill Gates' book list last year.

From the text of the law:

Splendor··on Show HN: Zazu App – An OSS app launcher, similar to Alfred
I was able to install without warning now. However, the alt+space command doesn't seem to work. That instead opens the context menu in the app that has focus. I can use Zazu by clicking the menu bar icon and choosing 'Toggle Zazu' though.

I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 in case that's helpful.

I love that this is cross platform.

When I tried to install the debian package through the Ubuntu Software Center I received this warning:

The package is of bad quality
The installation of a package which violates the quality standards isn't allowed. This could cause serious problems on your computer. Please contact the person or organisation who provided this package file and include the details beneath.

Has this been shared now?

Splendor··on Building Jarvis
Would you mind elaborating? What makes OpenHAB more robust?
Splendor··on Ask HN: Great online forums?
I think there are still a few good forums out there but they're specific to a hobby or interest.
Splendor··on Arduboy – A game system the size of a credit card
Isn't gaming the use-case?
Splendor··on Show HN: Nando – Team Meetings Done Well

Splendor··on Trigger Happy: An opensource clone of IFTTT
I'm not sure but I'm not happy with the change. I thought they did a great job of making conditional logic easy for the masses through their 'recipes'. The new applets hide what little complexity the service previously had and now its just confusing to me.
Splendor··on Instapaper Premium is now free for everyone
Would you mind elaborating on how Pinterest derives value from your "aggregate information about links on the web"? What types of data do you/they glean through Instapaper?
Splendor··on How I Became HackerRank 1 in Two Hours
From the article:

> Motivations For Getting The Ranking. Recently I saw a Bloomberg story linked on Hacker News where it said that Wall Street is frantically looking for programmers.

Splendor··on Italy’s rarest pasta
Whether that's true or not I don't think your observation adds much to the conversation.
Splendor··on Google Noto Fonts
> "Google’s open-source Noto font family provides a beautiful and consistent digital type for every symbol in the Unicode standard, covering more than 800 languages and 110,000 characters."

Wow. That's a lot of work.

Splendor··on Robinhood Gold
I love Robinhood. The idea of trading on credit gives me the heebie jeebies though.
Splendor··on Oct. 4
I'm not saying you're wrong, but you didn't really counter anything in the previous post.
