Splendor··on A Beginner’s Guide to Kerning Like a Designer
It's hard to see their design advice through all of the clutter.

Splendor··on Chrome Cleanup Tool
Further evidence that the browser is becoming the new OS.
Splendor··on Google Pixel C Review
I would suggest either changing the link to the beginning of the review[0] or updating the title to something like 'The Google Pixel C Software Review'.

Splendor··on Dear GitHub
Do you feel like your usage is typical?
Splendor··on Paribus (YC S15) saves you money when items you purchased online drop in price
It's effectively free since their obtaining refunds on your behalf that you otherwise might not have, but it's not technically free since they take a cut of the refunds.
Splendor··on Planetary Defense
This is a very exciting mission.

Does anyone have a sense of how many potential near-Earth objects have a rocky surface with large boulders as required by this mission?

Splendor··on Why I love Snapchat
I also grew to love Snapchat over the last few months. But then I got a Nexus 5X and the Snapchat app performs so poorly on this device that I rarely open it any more.
Splendor··on Surgery Performed with Google Cardboard Saved a Baby's Life
That's how I read it too. It sounds like Cardboard was used to prepare for the surgery or maybe just to confirm whether or not surgery was a viable option.
Splendor··on Jet.com’s Strategy: Low Prices, Fast Delivery, Happy Workers
I don't know what to make of Jet.com. I was interested in their initial model of trying to be an online, membership-funded retailer in the vein of Costco. Now that they've signalled a move away from memberships I don't know what their advantage is.

My anecdotal experience is that they have a smaller selection, worse fulfillment, and worse customer service than their obvious competitor, Amazon. Their site and product description pages leave a lot to be desired so even if they can undercut Amazon by a small amount, I'm going to order from Amazon instead because I have more confidence that I'll receive what I ordered, on-time, and have a better experience if I need to return anything.

Jet.com has a very large hill to climb here but I wish them well.

Splendor··on Mozilla Will Stop Developing and Selling Firefox OS Smartphones
I agree that my link isn't useful in light this clarification. I do appreciate you taking the time to expand on your opinion.
Splendor··on Twitter is monkeying with the order of tweets in timelines
This convinced me to sell my remaining stock in Twitter. I've been holding out hope that we'd see a return-to-roots focus on what made Twitter great in the early days (an open platform that embraced user-driven innovation). The willingness to experiment with this change indicates to me that they've lost that thread.
Splendor··on Mozilla Will Stop Developing and Selling Firefox OS Smartphones
I'm not sure if you're serious or not. If you are, here's a good place to start: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/about/
Splendor··on Announcing Our $3.5M Philanthropic Growth Round
Hey there. I see you've added an edit but I still thought I might be able to add something.

I'm currently a Universal Fund[0] member on Watsi and I've found it to be a very positive experience. Instead of feeling like I'm making a hard decision between treatments for many sick people I just give a set monthly amount and then each month I receive an upbeat email letting me know which patient received my funding.

I also like that my Watsi profile page shows me how many different countries my donations have reached.

Splendor··on Hearts on Twitter
When I first joined twitter I assumed that "favorites" were bookmarks and didn't realize that twitter notified users when you favorited a tweet.

Splendor··on YouTube Will Remove Videos of Creators Who Don’t Sign Its Red Subscription Deal
Okay. That makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
Splendor··on Paul Tudor Jones to Staff: Learn to Write or I'll Rip Up Your Memo
> "Jones says writing as a newspaper journalist does can help someone become a better problem-solver..."
Splendor··on Show HN: Staffjoy – Automated Workforce Scheduling
I'd like to see pricing information before I look at anything else.
Splendor··on YouTube Will Remove Videos of Creators Who Don’t Sign Its Red Subscription Deal
So YouTube Red is an opt-out for creators? Not an opt-in?
Splendor··on YouTube Will Remove Videos of Creators Who Don’t Sign Its Red Subscription Deal
That's unfortunate because not all partners are able to agree to the new terms. Some of them have passed away. It saddens me to think that their videos will now be hidden because of a change in policy.
Splendor··on Earliest Known Draft of King James Bible Is Found, Scholar Says
Slightly off topic, do you have a favorite translation?
Splendor··on Data Infrastructure at IFTTT
Things might be different now that Kinesis Firehose has been announced. But Kinesis alone is not easier to manage than Kafka.
Splendor··on Off the Grid, but Still Online
Those wide-angle photos gave me a mild vertigo feeling.
Splendor··on Apple CEO Tim Cook: 'Privacy Is a Fundamental Human Right'
Apple also attempts to push back.

"Apple only disclosed content in response to 27% of the total U.S. account requests we received during the period from July 1st, 2014 to June 30th, 2015"

Splendor··on College Choice
That was my thought too. It would be interesting if there was some measure of salary increase upon graduation.
Splendor··on OptiKey – Full computer control and speech with your eyes
Those aren't necessarily mutually exclusive options. Something can be "open source" and still have only one contributor.
Splendor··on Show HN: Generate React forms from JSON form schemas
I would assume by using ISO 8601 dates which is the closest thing there is to a standard date format in JSON.
Splendor··on G is for Google
Sorry you're being downvoted. I wasn't sure who Susan was either and came to the comments for clarification.
Splendor··on Federal Judge Strikes Down Idaho ‘Ag-Gag Law’
I found it interesting that Judge Winmill grew up on a dairy farm.

Splendor··on Ronda Rousey fights like a statistical outlier
She's undoubtedly an outlier but I think that has more to do with the lack of parity in women's MMA. Men's MMA has had decades to reach it's current level of competition so it seems unfair to plot the performance of Ronda against all of MMA.
