Can someone answer a basic question for me?

I have an old iPhone SE (2016). It has a headphone jack. Does this mean my old iPhone can play lossless music but the latest iPhones can't?

Bluetooth technology doesn't have the bandwidth capacity to stream lossless audio, sorry. You will be listening to a compressed stream. The only way to listen lossless is wired.

Lossless is MEANINGLESS because Bluetooth audio itself is a lossy compressed stream. How are Apple going to market lossless streaming to Airpods, when such a thing is technically impossible?

They are archiving the "wrong" thing. There have been similar "archive this!" movements this year, generally focussed on online communities targetting their political opponents.

In 50 years what is going to be "hard to find" and unarchived? The things that NOBODY is talking about now! You need to be coldly unemotional and consider what your community DOES NOT CARE ABOUT. This will often be things that are politically awkward for you and your community. There will be 1000s of people archiving this event and NONE archiving events which do not suit the political narrative. Accepting this is difficult!

What is happening here is the equivalent of your parents keeping a newspaper of man first landing on the moon, which is now the most common vintage newspaper that exists.

Al Jazeera is a clownish propoganada mouthpiece for the Qatar regime. You can read here:

This is free broadband? How is that sustainable?

Blaming the US for the endless violence in Honduras is typical internet nonsense.

Please don't post blogspam, especially from a source such as aljazeera. The actual article is here:

"Our European visitors are important to us" blah blah blah

Made in China, not Tokyo.

I feel the same. Nice analogy, going to use it.

Humanity does do not live in your idealised competitive global market. There is a very limited subset of US engineers who would relocate to China.

I've been using Croc recently and it's been rock solid, and exactly what I'd been looking for. Thanks to the author.

It works on Windows, which means I can connect with most people in the world.

Source here is Craig Murray who is possibly the most extreme-biased source one could imagine. Nevertheless it's good to get primary source information from the hearing.

Individuals have more rights in the USA than almost every country on earth. EU is maybe stronger.

Just wait until you hear about every other country on earth...

I thought that cop was charged with murder? I must have got confused, thanks for updating me.

This would be a serious offence which would get you banned from the US for life, after serving a jail sentence.

It's a serious offence to present a fake identity to US Border Patrol.

The law works by judging intent, not by "actualllly technically i am correct here".

Just in case any readers are taking the above comment seriously, there is no modern legal system anywhere that allows exceptions based on the above. It is absurd nonsense.

This is HackerNews, so you're going to get called out on such nonsense. There is no technical capability to "spy on the entire internet". If you truly believe this, then you are probably consuming propaganda.

Nonsense that Apple would buy DuckDuckGo. DGG is just a wrapper around Bing Search. Therefore Apple could recreate DGG from scratch in a month.

The situation is far more nuanced than that. The UK government were not ignoring experts, they took advice from their own scientists. For instance Sweden too remained fully open.

Yes agreed, UK is a problem group. Unfortunately the thrust of the arguments above yours is that the UK is uniquely terrible. This is not because of the data, but because many people strongly despise the current rightwing government. This is why the quality of discussion here will be limited.

By your definition, Sweden, which has remained open, is the sickest man in Europe.

Turkey is not currently negotiating its way into the EU, not using any credible definition of the word.

Just to balance your comment slightly, the UK death rate is not out of proportion to other countries in Europe.

Note that politics in the UK are VERY polarised at the moment, therefore the quality of the discussion here will inevitably be one-sided and of low-value.
