Steve16384··on Italian chef fired after refusing to put pineapple on pizza
What next, sacking a english worker because they refuse to put the milk in tea first?
Steve16384··on Awesome repositories are no longer awesome
> If a perfectly good piece of software hasn't been updated in years because it hasn't needed to be updated

This. When people say "I wouldn't use this because it hasn't been updated for years", maybe it's because it doesn't need updating?

Steve16384··on AI is forcing us to pay off 40 years of technical debt
I remember stuff like getting an email from a colleague: "Run this exe to get a free CD holder". Innocent times...
Steve16384··on Italian chef fired after refusing to put pineapple on pizza
In what way?
Steve16384··on Italian chef fired after refusing to put pineapple on pizza
"after a meeting with management who had a string of complaints about the chef's behaviour [...] Other concerns were raised about Tamburella using foul language, his communication style and "escalation of frustration in the workplace".

Another case, like the "Arrested for a Facebook post" articles, where there's actually a string of other reasons, but the last straw is the only one that is highlighted.

Steve16384··on Ousted Savannah police officer gave ICE agent husband access to Flock system
Maybe someone should remind them to only shoot illegals.
Steve16384··on Microsoft offers mass buyouts for roughly a quarter of its workforce
The world is full of people wanting to be offended on behalf of other people.
Steve16384··on Roblox downloaded 145GB models from us (including adult content) without asking
Who's "we"?
Steve16384··on Roblox downloaded 145GB models from us (including adult content) without asking
Yeah, I can imagine it being a problem if it was from different IP addresses, but surely putting a limit on requests from a single IP would be a straightforward fix? Although maybe until it happens, you don't think about it.

I don't want to automatically blame Trump, but if the leader of the country ignores laws, why would anyone else think they are that important?
Steve16384··on Writing a Demoscene Intro for the ZX Spectrum
I've got no figures to hand obviously, but I'd be very surprised if the 128 (including +2 and +3) didn't outsell the 48K.
Steve16384··on Do dentists know what they're doing?
If I had toothache again, I'd let a dog with a hammer have a go at it if I thought it would stop the pain.
Steve16384··on Writing a Demoscene Intro for the ZX Spectrum
I couldn't find where it said that?
Steve16384··on Hackers activate automatic defrosting in supermarket fridges across Europe
Obviously to save money, like everything.
Steve16384··on Hackers activate automatic defrosting in supermarket fridges across Europe
Europe is more than one country.
Steve16384··on CFTC Staff Were Told to Retract Analysis of Suspicious Oil Trades
What would be your definition of not running? It's like when someone says "We survived Covid!". Yes, you might have but thousands of others died.
Steve16384··on Deloitte falsified documents to evade tax on Abramovich's wealth
Any kind of charge would make a nice change.
Steve16384··on The top secret URSALA, RAQUEL, and FARRAH satellites (2025)
> it's clearly pointless

That depends what the aim of the war is. Is it to win, or just a distraction?

Steve16384··on US sanctions force The Netherlands off Microsoft and toward alternative NixOS
You're probably right. The wars have served their purpose, i.e. distract voters from domestic issues. Who in power cares if they win or lose if they're still in power?
Steve16384··on Updated Google Maps shows destruction of the city of Rafah
What would qualify as having won? Every Palestinian dead?
Steve16384··on California farmers are struggling to sell grapes as demand for wine drops
I'm not a fan of Morrisons, but they do have a great range of booze.
Steve16384··on Pentagon says overreliance on AI contributed to missile strike on Iran school
Why wouldn't they? There's been very little repercussions for anyone so far. Apart from the Netherlands bracing itself for sanctions from America because the ICC dared to suggest someone might have done something wrong.
Steve16384··on Pentagon says overreliance on AI contributed to missile strike on Iran school
Or any of the other million or so sci-fi stories that predicted this might happen.
Steve16384··on Pentagon says overreliance on AI contributed to missile strike on Iran school
The real advantage of AI is the fact it can be blamed, absolving any humans of responsibility or repercussions.
Steve16384··on Netherlands bracing for potentially devastating US sanctions against the ICC
I think it's something to do with them issueing an arrest warrant in November 2024 for Netanyahu for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity as part of the ICC investigation in Palestine.
Steve16384··on A warning about 'model welfare'
Take your pick from the millions of options already turned into films and books.
Steve16384··on The Google Play app review process now regularly takes longer than a week
> but can be overwhelming

That's an understatement and a half. It's massively over engineered and complicated, especially when compared with (say) the dashboard on Itch.

Steve16384··on Australia 'on the same page' as Canada as it seeks deeper EU alliance
I guess that's what the EU is trying to be.
Steve16384··on US confirms for first time it has deployed space weapons
I feel safer already. What's the worst that could happen? I'm sure no-one will put an AI anywhere near it.
Steve16384··on Spaceships (Reverse Asteroid)
I created a reverse Space Invaders a few months ago, but I struggled to get it to be a fun game as you just move left and right avoiding the players bullets. (I'd post a gif, but it looks exactly like Space Invaders to watch).
