SurfingAlpaca··on RAM-Altman: a bash script that emails Sam Altman about your unused RAM
The opening comment is an essay which no one writing shell scripts has the patience to do. So many things like euo pipefail are so “production ready”. The most dead giveaway imo is test cases (and a brag comment about how many test cases which is something AI loooves to do). No one writing a throwaway joke script would ever do this much production readiness. Plus the readme and website are so flashy and verbose
SurfingAlpaca··on Goodbye Claude, Hello Pi
Claude now supports AGENTS.md fully but the rest of what you said holds
SurfingAlpaca··on Show HN: High-quality duck audio synthesizer
Batak is duck in Hindi. The word comes from Persian. In Sanskrit the word for bird is pakshi
SurfingAlpaca··on Refuseless: Open and Abliterated LLMs
I think your page is down my friend. Too bad I actually wanted to see the list
SurfingAlpaca··on Show HN: An Open Source Aircraft
Vibe coded plane about to make Boeing look sturdy lmao
SurfingAlpaca··on Privacy Badger for Safari on macOS
I wish this makes it to iOS
SurfingAlpaca··on Pixel: Build Graphical Applications in the Terminal
It’s pretty cool but also kind of a bummer. I thought it was doing some kind of magic trick to show me some kind of ASCII rendering of the apps in the terminal, kinda like how VLC lets you play video in terminal. Only working in terminal emulators with image support makes sense I guess

That said it’s a creative idea. I like it

SurfingAlpaca··on Ask HN: What's your SSH terminal workflow like?
Back in the day I used to do ssh, tmux, vim for most of my work on the server and sshfs for stuff where I needed my IDE. In the last 10 years I think the only thing thats changed is adding agents to the mix (and no longer needing sshfs). Some files kinda open slow on vim or screw up the syntax highlighting so I switch to nvim/helix (still evaluating both. Don’t know what to pick)
SurfingAlpaca··on How the Elizabeth Holmes documentary “You Can See Everything” is deceiving
Ye but I was saying more along the lines of I’ve already been spoiled on the plotline of what happened to Holmes. Idk if seeing the movie will be any different. Might be who knows
SurfingAlpaca··on I Became a Citizen of Japan
Wdym? When you say ideals, a stereotype, for better or worse, seems to be they’re neat people. Something like that?
SurfingAlpaca··on I Became a Citizen of Japan
Ok I know a ton of people move to the west and so many move to other countries within the west as well. I moved to America too but I never got why people here talk so much about Japan. Like I have white/American friends who plan yearly or bi-yearly trips, learn the language, etc

I have nothing against the country or anything I’m just curious why Japan is so popular. Was it historical or something?

SurfingAlpaca··on I Became a Citizen of Japan
I want to understand something. Why are westerners so obsessed with Japan? I’m not trying to be offensive I’m just curious
