What are you talking about?

TedDoesntTalk··on Northflank Breached
If you have to hack 1,000,000 custom setups to get the same results as one hyperscaler, would you bother?
TedDoesntTalk··on Northflank Breached
My company just did this. Still using AWS S3 but everything else is on-prem with kubernetes.

TedDoesntTalk··on Securing our frontier model training environment
Can’t they physically air gap the frontier model training environment? I don’t see that mentioned in the post, but I didn’t read all of it.

If not, why?

TedDoesntTalk··on Air Purifiers as White Noise Machines
Which PM2.5 meter do you have? I’ve been looking to buy one and AirThings keeps coming up.
TedDoesntTalk··on Air Purifiers as White Noise Machines
The Austin Air HealthMate is great as a noise machine. Very loud. It’s a HEPA filter and lasts 5 years. Never seen any other that lasts that long, but you pay for it upfront. after-market replacements are $250-300 for another 5 years.
TedDoesntTalk··on Jailbreaking the Switch 2
The Belgian WeMo like a wall switch. What do you use it for? Powering the device on/off?

TedDoesntTalk··on Google Cloud outage affects almost all banking and other operations in Europe
Thank you, this is great insider info. I only wish they had free checking accounts; they have all sorts of requirements in order to waive their monthly fee. Then I’d switch in a heartbeat because of your post.

This. If the LLM has access to the outside world through its harness, then it can do real damage - data exfiltration, etc.
TedDoesntTalk··on Claude reveals ECDSA curve origins
I gave Open 5.5 high your hint. This was the most interesting output:

'Side curiosity: many of the SECG/X9.62 seeds contain the ASCII text 4D696E6768756151 75 = "MinghuaQu" (a Certicom researcher), sometimes shifted by half a byte.'

I don't see any mention of that in the article.

You can buy gun parts on ebay in the US. Here's one example, a trigger for a 9mm Browning Hi-Power:

TedDoesntTalk··on I know why the mathematicians weep
> a finite number of neurons in a finite number of configurations

Neurons and synapses change, especially synapses (the connections between neurons). Some neurons have a few connections to other neurons. Others have hundreds of thousands of connections to other neurons. These grow and change. "Estimates are between 100 trillion and 1,000 trillion neural connections" Is it finite? Depends on your definition of finite. If anything countable is finite, then it is finite but the number may be practically uncountable. Is it fixed? No.

TedDoesntTalk··on Blood cells from 80-year-old donor become stem cells with molecular age under 20
> don't know about immortality, but I'd definitely like more than 80 years

You’re changing the subject; this is about immortality. I’d also like to live more than 80 years, and no book can convince me otherwise. But forever? No thanks.

TedDoesntTalk··on Blood cells from 80-year-old donor become stem cells with molecular age under 20
Yes, you used your imagination. But only 45/12 =3.75 times. That puts our projectiok at approximately 100*3.75=375 years. That’s quite different than living several million years or indefinitely.
TedDoesntTalk··on Blood cells from 80-year-old donor become stem cells with molecular age under 20
> if there exist a scientific principle which would prevent modulating them successfully, you didn't name it.

Why does such a “ scientific principle “ need to exist? So that you could finally point to a clear reason that it’s impossible?

Did Newton’s laws of motion exist before they were described by Newton?
