>> "Not all humans are born the same, of course, and the innate character and intelligence of some is more suited to mastery than slavery. For others, it is more suited to slavery. And others still are badly suited to either. These characteristics can be expected to group differently in human populations of different origins. Thus, Spaniards and Englishmen in the Americas in the 17th and earlier centuries, whose sense of political correctness was negligible, found that Africans tended to make good slaves and Indians did not. This broad pattern of observation is most parsimoniously explained by genetic differences."
Just want to point out that I don't share Moldbug's beliefs whatsoever. How does acting like the problem doesn't exist solve the problem? If that's not what you mean, then do you mean we should all just suddenly stop being racist/sexist/bigotted/etc? Just like that? How would that work? How do you get your neighbor to go along with that? Or white middle manager, who means well but is uncomfortable hiring people of certain ethnicities or sexualities because of "culture fit"? It seems that anyone willing to do what you are saying, if I'm understanding it correctly, is probably already of the belief that a world without racism/sexism/etc would be better, and already behaves in the manner you suggest. In which case, we still live in a fucked up world and system where these things are actually still big problems.
That quote sounds like the kind of thing that could easily be an immature employee who doesn't like the idea of a "VP of diversity", or doesn't like the tone of the VP's slides, taking something small and blowing it out of proportion.
Like, they tried to recommend a friend of theirs for an open position and the friend didn't get an interview and suddenly that n=1 case becomes "OMG! They won't let us interview white candidates!!"
Is all this running continuously, or different schedules for each worker? Any of these event based rather than schedule based?
Yes, radius varies, but the OP's solution addresses that, so what's your point?
10/10 would be drenched in smugness again.
But no, your guess makes a lot more sense.
I think people would hate the spouse just the same if it were a man, so I disagree with you on this.
The task list in the notes.txt file is also something I add to as I go. Sometimes if i'm doing something that requires a keeping track of more than i can remember in my head, I'll have little lists within the .txt that keep track. It's basically a stack data structure so I can keep track, and when i pop stuff off the stack, back up to a higher node, i have to add more to the stack to keep track of my progress deeper into another branch of the tree.
The only thing I've read so far is Fowler's "NoSQL Distilled". It's not exactly a hardcore text but it does give a good overview of the different types of databases, and the tradeoffs they make in terms of consistency/availability.
What stuck out to me when reading the various articles about PG's interview that caused the hubbub about gender in tech was actually more his ageist stance than the perceived sexism. I'm glad someone wrote something calling that out.
That is a flat out lie. Maybe it wasn't large scale, but this is exactly what they were doing by asking people to put the links back to their site to try to rank for Bieber lyrics.
