_ink_··on Alphabet Announces Third Quarter 2026 Results [pdf]
> Youtube meh, like always (weird that it doesn't kill it)

It's a huuuge training set, why would they kill that?

_ink_··on SS United States to be sunk as largest artificial reef
There are plenty of comments complaining about paywalls, I never saw a comment like yours below one. But it's the same thing. Buy ft, nyt, bloomberg, youtube, whatever and spend $500 month to read a single article or watch a single video per month on that specific site. It's ridiculous and broken and it's ok to complain about it.
_ink_··on Hunger beats tenure: Advice for junior engineers
"work on the weekend for free" aka move the risk (of wasted resources) to the employee. Excellent advice.

How about fostering a working culture were employees get a chance of trying out new things during office hours? Especially since AI is rising productivity so much.

_ink_··on SS United States to be sunk as largest artificial reef
Probably interesting, but unwatchable with ads every two sentences.
_ink_··on Show HN: Specification First Agentic Development Plugin and Prove
What is the difference between having the agent create a spec and having the agent create a plan?
_ink_··on Is my data used for model training?
I think it's still a shitty move and I feel deceived. I opted out of training and it's impossible to see for me (in any practical sense, sure it's somewhere in the ToS) that this simple question leads to my data being stored for 5 years and potentially read by human reviewers.

If I opted out, then don't ask me this deceiving question or make it very obvious that answering it has these consequences.

_ink_··on Is my data used for model training?
Is this also the case when you answer that how is Claude doing question in Claude Code?
_ink_··on The Exponential Time Hypothesis Is False [pdf]
If AI really scales indefinitely is an increase in efficiency even bearish for Nvidia? Wouldn't they still build more and more compute as fast as they can, because these things get smarter and better with more compute?
_ink_··on Meta employees say Lula’s accounts restricted in Brazil election: Report
I would go further and make them liable for what they show. Sure it's user created content. But the feed is entirely curated by them. They decide what to show and what not and they should be liable as such.
_ink_··on Getting ready to operate GNU Taler in Germany
It might be an advantage actually. Wero is a clusterfuck in Germany because it is backed by banks. In Germany there is not a single Wero App, but every bank wanted to implement it in their own app. Now you have the situation that a) some people cannot use it, because their bank decided to not implement at all b) each bank decides what features they implement as well as the timeframe. Some can pay online others cannot, yet, some won't at all. Some can pay in stores, others cannot, yet, some won't at all.

It's essentially dead before it has started. This is something Taler could do better. The real danger for Taker is the digital Euro, which I hope they really implement.

_ink_··on AfD Leak: What 421,179 Hacked Emails Show about the German Far Right
The same question goes the other way as well. If a constitution does not have a slavery clause and now people want to add it, should they be allowed to do that?

I read into your question, that they should be allowed to do that. The question is, why should they?

_ink_··on AfD Leak: What 421,179 Hacked Emails Show about the German Far Right
Ok, there might narrower and wider definitions of Democracy: "Under a narrow definition of democracy, rulers are elected through competitive elections, while broader definitions also link democracy to guarantees of civil liberties and human rights" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democracy)

But Germany has a constitution and it allows to ban parties, that act against it. Would you say, that makes Germany not democratic?

_ink_··on AfD Leak: What 421,179 Hacked Emails Show about the German Far Right
Democracy is not only rule of majority. It is also protection of the constitution and minorities. The AfD clearly is against hates both, is not democratic and should be banned.
_ink_··on AfD Leak: What 421,179 Hacked Emails Show about the German Far Right
My personal belief is, that a big share of AfD voters don't know what they vote for. We saw it in the US, where Hispanic people were surprised that they are targeted by ICE. They are manipulated by propaganda. And this can be stopped by destroying the propaganda infrastructure and defund the people behind it.
_ink_··on AfD Leak: What 421,179 Hacked Emails Show about the German Far Right
Democracy is not only rule of majority. It is also protection of the constitution and minorities. The AfD clearly is against both and thus is not democratic and should be banned.
_ink_··on AfD Leak: What 421,179 Hacked Emails Show about the German Far Right
Democracy is not only rule of majority. It is also protection of the constitution and minorities. So that everybody can live their life as they please. The AfD clearly is against all of that. Our constitution offers a way to defend against these forces and it is time that the process is started.
_ink_··on AfD Leak: What 421,179 Hacked Emails Show about the German Far Right
Just start the process to ban this party already. There is enough evidence that they are enemies of our constitution.

_ink_··on Google is silently linking your phone number across all signed-in accounts
It's super annoying, because it's normally also a path for account recovery. So if you need to change your number, good luck remembering where you have signed up with it.
_ink_··on Switzerland proposes banning profiling-based ads to minors
This would be awesome. Imagine you would need to build excellent products, that advertise through word of mouth. And all that slot machines that only exist to force ads onto you would actually need to provide real value that people want to pay for.
_ink_··on I let an AI run my startup for a week

But I can also invest in companies? If the population keeps growing, because less people die, the economy might just keep growing. Also if you can get 500 you might want to get more kids. So it will be exponential growth. What could go possible wrong?
_ink_··on Why aren't AI companies being charged for hacking?
Or, maybe, it's because they actually care and take their responsibility serious. The next generations will grow up using these tools. It's ok to say, we don't teach them that talking like a dick is acceptable, even towards machines. Use grok if you want to raise personalities like Musk or Trump.
_ink_··on Lobbying Is Corruption
The German left party has the stand that billionaires shouldn't exist. At first I thought this is a bit far fetched. But nowadays I think the sentence should go billionaires shouldn't exist in a democracy. Because obviously money is power, for example through lobbying. And these people accumulated a lot of power, which is completely undemocratic.
_ink_··on US man given prison sentence for bot-farming music streams
The true definition of AGI: when bots are accepted as consumers and their clicks on ads are as valuable as human clicks.
_ink_··on US man given prison sentence for bot-farming music streams
Because you as a user don't distribute your $15. It's not like if you listen to one artist only, that artist gets your $15. Instead they throw it all into one pot and distribute it in accordance to the total plays. This is why Taylor Swift gets most of your money even when you didn't listen to her. I wish it was different.
