_mikz··on Show HN: Spec27 – Spec-driven validation for AI agents
Hey! Michal from the engineering team behind here. There are some painful experiences from the journey - async in Django, background processing in Python, scaling agent workflows with growing codebase. Happy to talk!

I have my private keys in Secure Enclave. Why the machine would not have own private keys there?
_mikz··on How to install TrueNAS on a Raspberry Pi
That TrueNAS ARM fork is great. I've set it up in VMWare Fusion on Mac mini M4 and it runs!

With Thunderbolt 4 M.2 NVMe enclosure, you can plug in M.2 SATA adapter to connect 8 SATA III drives. Little Pico PSU to power the HDDs and it makes a really low powered NAS.

My plan is to give TrueNAS a spin with two drives and if it is stable, move everything into it.

_mikz··on Czech Republic proposes the highest digital tax rate in Europe
It is important to know, that our ruling party is a populist left wing all the time promising one. So whatever might be proposed might not have enough push to be implemented.

_mikz··on Niffy: Perceptual Diffing to Catch Invisible Bugs
We are using Percy [1] for this and are extremely happy with this. Almost zero effort to set up, just some time to get random data out of our tests to have stable visual output.

_mikz··on Red Hat releases Ansible 2.3 with network automation capabilities
Just out of curiosity, how is that module tested? It is one new file without a single test. How people know it works and change it knowing it still works?
_mikz··on Nginx 1.12.0 stable
There is lua-resty-auto-ssl [1] providing exactly that. Sure, it is not plain Nginx, but OpenResty.

_mikz··on Nginx 1.12.0 stable
This can be done with lua-nginx-module [1] and its 'balancer_by_lua' directive [2].

There are projects like the one I'm working on [3] that implement dynamic proxies using OpenResty.

_mikz··on Spain Runs Out of Workers with Almost 5M Unemployed
But you actually get cool place to work, meet people and maybe even make friends.

Might not be for everyone, but sometimes money is not everything. Personal interaction can be strong motivator.

We are in the same building as MobileJazz and both of our offices have a big terrace and BBQ which we put to fair use!

_mikz··on Spain Runs Out of Workers with Almost 5M Unemployed
Maybe because working remote is not for everyone. I actually really enjoy working with people in our office. They are awesome. I relocated there few years ago and we are not only colleagues but also friends. Some people don't speak Spanish at all. Everyone has to speak English. That is official language of the company.
_mikz··on Spain Runs Out of Workers with Almost 5M Unemployed
We are on Ruby, Sinatra, Rails, Nginx, Lua & not afraid of new technologies.

Our open positions are on https://www.3scale.net/about/jobs/ We're based in Barcelona, but had remote workers in the past and still might be opened to that after some warmup time. On some hiring sites we were publically posting 50k EUR for Senior Backend Developer.

Being here for 5 years I can say there is plenty of growth space for good developers. Cheers.

A year later, there is dumb-init[1].

Released as statically linked binary, it is simple ADD + chmod +x to get running simple init without any dependencies.

Really? Why not just a notepad? It is on per user basis. So you can't even have different reply per repo. Or have some variable like user name or repo name. I mean. This really is the same as having a text file opened and copy paste something.

_mikz··on How to choose an in-memory NoSQL solution: Performance measuring
> Tarantool is an open-source NoSQL database management system and Lua application server developed in my.com. The first version of Tarantool was released in 2008 and the newest version is 1.6.7.

and later

> Through all tests we executed, Tarantool showed the best result for the count requests per second and for many of tests latency values on any type of examined workloads. Therefore, we can decide that for most of typical projects Tarantool suits them more that popular solutions such as Redis, CouchBase or Memcached. This is the basis of our decision to use Tarantool for our projects here at my.com.

So yeah. Obviously.

_mikz··on Gallery as an API
I'm gathering feedback for new project. I was so disapponted by current state of APIs for accessing Dropbox, Flickr and others that I decided to roll an aggregator.

You can't expose Dropbox/Flickr gallery on your static website, as you'd have to expose your private API key.

UPSTA would do that for you and just provide publicly consumable endpoint.

Would you consider paying for this service ?
