That's not how business taxes work. You are taxed on profits.
aetherane··on US police are selling seized phones with personal data still on them
I don't get why police would be able to seized phones in the first place.

Sometimes the problem isn't actually temporary though

Can OpenAI even be acquired? It is a subsidiary of a nonprofit
aetherane··on GitHub code search is generally available
I was in the beta, which im assuming was the same. I find it sometimes misses references in the same folder as the file I'm look at when I do reference search.
aetherane··on GitHub code search is generally available
I don't get the praise over GitHub code search. I find it very inaccurate and often missing references etc. Maybe it depends on the language you are using it with? (Go here)

Unfortunately air tags only work in the Apple ecosystem.
aetherane··on I worked at Google; now I’m an AI researcher. Here’s why slowing AI dev is wise
If the US gives other countries an ample head start to establish the major AI companies and doesn't compete, it is unlikely that it's GDP will support as good a standard of living in the future.
aetherane··on ChatGPT Plugins
I don't like the fact that OpenAI is a private company, meaning that wealth will further concentrate from its growth. It is ironic too because it can't become public due to the pledge of it's non profit parent to restrict the profit potential of the for profit entity.

aetherane··on Apple CEO’s Pay Cut 40% in 2023 After Shareholder Feedback

aetherane··on Apple CEO’s Pay Cut 40% in 2023 After Shareholder Feedback
The company also plans to “position Mr. Cook’s annual target compensation between the 80th and 90th percentiles relative to our primary peer group for future years,”

What is the peer group?

aetherane··on Conc: Better Structured Concurrency for Go
It seems unrealistic to assume that everyone on a reasonably sized team knows all of the subtle edge cases to avoid and never makes mistakes
aetherane··on Conc: Better Structured Concurrency for Go
It is pretty easy to have accidental panics in Go, for instance due to a runtime assertion that unexpectedly failed

Global entry is unavailable to foreigners from many countries, even long term visa holders
aetherane··on ChatGPT no longer displays a clear left-leaning political bias
"Center" here is a set of values and leanings like any other. It is hard to call that a lack of bias.
aetherane··on Wells Fargo to pay $3.7B for mistreating customers
That's a pretty low bar, though. There are many different levels of struggling but I don't think it is productive to deny challenges of someone just because they are better off than some others.
aetherane··on Censoring Naked Yoga
What fraction of non-nude yoga videos are run by 250 lb dudes vs attractive women?
aetherane··on USDD/Tron near collapse: USDD stablecoin below $0.97, reserve collateral drained
It seems equally helpful as USD then.

I think happiness with remote work depends a lot on whether you live with a family / roommates who you see regularly.
aetherane··on Mastering Stratego
A strategy can involve probability, like bluff 30% of time.

Oddly the analogous change isn't applied to filipino/filipina

Mosh might help with that
